Voting for this round is officially over. Below is the updated bracket, as well as the current standings in the Bracket Pool to win Degrassi DVDs.
ROUND 1 FINAL RESULTS
As predicted, almost all of the matchups in the 1st Round were blowouts. For those wondering why that happened or why some of the matchups seemed unfair, this all goes back to the voting fans did during preliminary round. The bracket was assembled based off those results. The characters who received the most votes during that round are basically rewarded with an easier schedule (that’s how all tournaments work). If your favorite character got destroyed in this first round, just remember that the preliminary round (which lasted for 5 days last week) allowed you UNLIMITED voting for any character(s) you wanted.
Cam and Spinner had the largest margins of victory in this first round. There were no upsets (aka a lower seed beating a higher seed). Zig vs Zane was the closest matchup in the round…they kept going back and forth for quite some time until Zig started pulling away in the final hours.
The second round is a tad bit more difficult, featuring two ship battles (Jatie and Sparcy). A few matches that will be good ones to keep an eye on are of course the Jatie matchup, as well as Simpson vs. Bianca and KC vs Sean.

Why are MOST of the polls such no-brainers! Give my queen Marisol a FAIR CHANCE against someone else. Also, Eli vs. Bruce, really? Wow…..

It’s because of the preliminary voting. It prevents things like Eli vs Maya from happening first round. Both characters are extremely popular and deserving of a top spot, so it would be unfair to eliminate either of them right off the bat.

Lol at emma and drew. Nothing beats the original tng. :D Although I love the freshmen…. but cam is gone :'( and I was a hardcore eclare shipper but now they are the most annoying part of the show because of them breaking up every 5 minutes/episodes. I still like Eli. Clare can’t get anymore irritating. #stuffclaresays. flipping hilarious. I also like that Jake and Eli are friends.

I’m pleasantly surprised that Toby has gotten 31% of the vote. I expected him to get about 2%, LOL. Too bad he doesn’t have a chance.

I’m also surprised that Simpson is beating Liberty by such a huge margin. I thought that she might have a chance.
