Degrassi: Showdown Episode Descriptions
As reported by The-Kyle from CableTVTalk (WARNING: IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IN DEGRASSI: SHOWDOWN, DON’T READ THE DESCRIPTIONS BELOW). Stephen Stohn has confirmed that Degrassi: Showdown will be 20 episodes, not 16. That means the finale will be on Thursday, August 16th.

The interview says:
“The summer months are Degrassi’s bread and butter, stuffing 20 of its 40 new episodes into just four weeks of nightly drama. This year’s sprint, entitled Showdown, starts on July 16th and doesn’t let go, and while show creator Stephen Stohn wasn’t spilling specifics, we talked to him about how the events of last season will transition into Showdown, and where the show’s most notorious couples go from here.”
The first sentence doesn’t make sense… 20 episodes in 4 weeks? That’d mean Monday through Friday for 4 weeks, but TeenNick’s promo said Monday through Thursday, so it must be 5 weeks, right?

Some intereting plots here for the summer.
K.C’s dad getting out of jail is cool, but can we just give him a gang storyline already?
The Tristian stuff I’m sure will be amazing. Pretty cool for a freshmen to get a big part in a storyline like this.
I’m looking foward to the Cam/Maya stuff.

Btw, Adam’s name is barely mentioned at all. I really thought he might be centered in the episodes “Rusty Cage” since “My Body is a Cage” was mainly about him before. But I think “Never Ever” will be interesting with him and Becky.

The Degrassi writers said that the Seniors graduate at the end of season 12. I hope they don’t hold Eli back because of the Eclare fanbase Eli is smart and all the time something bad happen he was on vacation. I can see them holding Drew back and maybe Katie because she missed so much school due to rehab.

I like that Zig is finally getting a plot and some development because we know nothing about this Kid. I like KC’s upcoming plot.. everything seems to be pretty good and not too much focus is on relationships so.. what happened to those leaked plots? because some of those sounded good too.

Wow, actually sounds like this won’t be relationship heavy. Looking a lot like an old school Degrassi line up of episodes. Hopefully this mentality carries over to the fall episodes.

This half-season looks quite promising actually. I’ve been waiting for a plot about KC’s dad or his old “buddies” for like 2 seasons.
and Degrassi might actually follow through with a suicide plot!? (well probably not, but that’s what it’s sounding like), interesting.

It seems to me like Tristan is getting the suicide plot. That should be interesting. Also, I am so excited for this season! It looks to be VERY good in that old school Degrassi way.

K.C. and Bianca interacting again.
Tristan’s plot.
Zig finally getting some character growth.
Cam and Maya,
Clare’s harassment storyline.
Becky and Luke’s interaction with Adam and Jenna.
Clare and Mike’s rivalry.
Katie’s revenge on Drew,
Imogen’s plot.
Plots I could care less about:
All of Drew’s. Seriously. He does the same thing in a different light every season. When is his life not falling apart? I wish they would just get rid of his character.
This is going to be a very exciting season. More about character growth than love and relationship issues. FINALLY!

I’m glad we’re finally getting to see K.C.’s father. I’d like to know about other absentee parents of characters: Jenna’s dad, and Adam and Drew’s other parents, assuming they’re still alive. It’s too bad that Jenna’s mom was re-written as having passed away, though. It would have been interesting to see Jenna trying to re-connect with a parent who was too busy out chasing fame to bond with her.
It would be nice to see Adam actually get the girl for once, though…

the clare/eli plot in Sabotage isnt the A plot. in the pictures of the script, the niners are on the first page and im thinking they will get the main plot. other than that, holy fucking shit this sounds like its seriously going to be the best season in YEARS. shoplifting, a sholarship to MIT, baptism, sexual harassment… holy fucking shit. and i CANT WAIT for imogen’s episode. im calling her dad having schizophrenia or Alzheimer

I have a horrible feeling that Drew is going to have drunk sex with Katie, ugh.
It’s kinda funny that Clare is actually questioning Eli’s feelings for her. I mean, REALLY? He was only chasing after her for half of S11, haha. I liked Stohn’s insight into Eclare, but I still hope they talk out their shit and slowly come back together. This was a couple built on development, so it’d be doing them a disservice to slap them back together.
Speaking of the Ology interview, I look forward to seeing Imogen’s self-discovery. It’s about time we know more about her. The family stuff sounds intriguing.
Zig is having an A-plot? I’m excited to learn more about him, but at the same time… I wonder if he can actually carry a plot. At this point, I feel like the only niners that are capable of doing that are Maya and Tristan.
I’m so excited for Say It Ain’t So, purely because it’s very school-based, and we don’t get enough of those plot lines. Also you can never have enough Jake.
YES TO K.C.’S PLOT. I have been waiting for the K.C.’s dad to make an appearance. I wanna see how Mama Guthrie deals with this as well. And even though I don’t want Clare to deal with sexual harassment, YES to the amazing potential of her plot line. I just hope this doesn’t spiral into a Darcy-esque situation. :/

You’re right. But i would be upset that was all her story lines held, kinda like im pissed adam can’t have a storyline that isnt about his sex. Yes it’s a huge part of who he is, and in any conflict people who know would aim there first. But how about a story line like he fails a test, or something most students deal with. Anyways, I think it would be good to see how these two very different christian girls interact. Darcy was always the christian girl, very much unlike clare who has and accepts a trans as a friend. becky seems like she’s also going to be a judgmental bitch who believes heavily in her religion but omits the love thee neighbor part. So im really interested in see how these two kids interact.

The new season sounds interesting. I’m disappointed at the lack of follow up to Dave’s plotline from 11.5 though. Other than that lots of exciting things going on and I’m happy they toned down the relationship stuff a bit to make room for more issue based stories :)

I reckon you’re right, i mean it’s in the perfect position in the series for that to be true.
I think Eli and Clare are just going to be friends, but Clare goes through this stuff and becomes depressed, which Eli detects.
I cannot wait for the whole Becky trying to save Adam plot. It’s going to be soo good, I just wish Adam would have more major plot lines, romantic or not, he just always ends up being a side-kick and it annoys me so much.
I really like the fact that it looks like they aren’t going to make Jenna and Jake a couple, I just hope they keep them as friends, coz if they do, for once in forever Degrassi will make a boy and girl be friends and stay that way from start to end.
I can tell already that Drew’s going to have sex with Katie at the party and then dump her, which is the stupidist thing he could do to her right now. I just really hope Drew gets it for that.
I’m looking forward to the niner plots, but I really hope Zig can show us he is not a boring up-himself guy who has nothing else to offer, because I don’t think I could deal with that. Hopefully his plot makes him more rounded as a character, but it probably wont.
I’m looking forward to people thinking about what they want to do in terms of college and I’m looking forward to Alli’s plot, coz I like it when Degrassi acknowledges that she’s a bloody genius.
But I’m really confused about one thing. Why is Dave going out for Romeo, since when is he into acting? Don’t get it at all, but i suppose it’s going to have something to do with the fact that the play is a homosexual version of Romeo and Juliet (hence the name Romeo and Jules).
I reckon the last episode will have a suicide plot, but there’ll be a chance of it being either Tristan, Clare or possibly Adam and no-one will know who it is and whats going on. If that is true, I reckon that would be really awesome and interesting, even though I don’t really want any of those characters to die.
Anyway, my predicting is done :)

Am I the only one who is excited for Becky? I really don’t even like those super religious people like at all but she just seems interesting to watch cause you can bet she’s not going to have a relationship plot anytime soon. Alli and Jakes episode doesn’t sound to entertaining only cause it reminds me of actual school lol. I can’t wait for this season.

I have a feeling Becky is going to purposely derail the play due to her ego. Mess with ticket sales, parents are upset and Tristan missing. I think she have someone lock Tristan in a closet somewhere. And add bonding with Adam and saving him will set Eli off. Im not a Eclare shipper but I don’t think anything romantic is going to happen between Becky and Eli. I think they’re going to be at odds for a long time coming.

Well the reason I assumed there would be a suicide is because Scream sounds extremely similar to Showtime from Degrassi High, in which Simpson found Claude dead in the bathroom. He probably won’t die though unless they’re not done filming this episode, because Lyle is still on set. Also Spencer wasn’t at any of the readthroughs, so I think it’s safe to say Wes is gone :/

Wow, I’ve gotta say I’m REALLY impressed with these. I remember reading one or two of these descriptions for the Boiling Point (and honestly almost all of them for season 11) and being underwhelmed or confused about why a particular story was being covered, but I’m genuinely interested in all of these. In short, I’m incredibly pleased with them giving so many A-plots/plots solely about them to characters who’ve never had them before, and focusing on so many issues opposed to relationships. I like that the C-plots are almost never mentioned and while I’m sure the niners will have a good amount of them, I’m hoping some plots get an emotional follow-up in them too (Jenna’s, Katie’s, Allie’s, Clare’s) opposed to them almost always being comical or romantic.Read on for the very, very long other thoughts…..
(Come As You Are/Walking on Broken Glass) The first two episodes (all four parts) kinda sound like one big episode, and while I’m glad they’re showing the break-up from both perspectives as far as build-up/execution and follow-up AND through Drew and Katie’s eyes, I always wish storylines were spaced out instead of back-to-back to avoid character overload. I’m also really impressed with how they’re incorporating new characters, particularly Becky, into so many plots; it seems like she’ll be interacting quite a bit with Eli, Jenna, and Adam along with the rest of the kids who are in the play.
(Got Your Money/Say It Ain’t So)I’m excited that Zig’s got the first A-plot of the niners because it sounds heavier than the relationship drama they’ve got otherwise, and more deserving of an A-plot. Degrassi hasn’t really tackled poverty as an issue of its own, instead using it as the reason behind the issues of stealing (Spinner, now Zig), gambling (Ellie), stripping (Alex), and prostitution (Marco). Well, I guess Holly J had a plot about getting a job, but even then I wouldn’t have considered her poor, and I’m glad we’re getting more economic diversity in the current cast, right now it seems like most characters aside from KC, Bianca, and Jenna are pretty well-off, if not wealthy. And although it’s a bummer Alli is getting what some could consider a duller plot (especially since she’s a pretty great actress), I think it’s fitting for her overall development; she had her wild storylines early on and has now really matured into a driven and future-focused character, a bit like Holly J’s overall arc. I’m also thrilled that Jake finally has a plot of his own solely about HIM and not any relationship drama, and it plays nicely off of Alli’s.
(Closer to Free/Waterfalls) I LOVE this storyline for Jenna! I really agree with what Stohn said in that Ology interview as far as it making sense in the big picture, especially if they play up the idea of Jenna struggling with the notion of purity. And again, I’m glad they’re implementing Becky and Luke into the storyline’s of people we know, I’m hoping we get a good glimpse at who Luke is in this one. I feel like Bianca has dumped Drew by this point, and I’m a bit worried about Drew overkill, especially since he spent so much time last season wanting to leave Degrassi…for something much more serious and understandable. After deciding to stay with a gang after you, wanting to leave because of a crazy ex and a breakup sounds so lame. Clare’s story feels random because Asher’s so disconnected from the cast, but I guess she deserves a non-romance plot and this sounds heavy. Plus, her wanting to impress him has me thinking her and Eli are still not together, which is probably a good call with him devoting so much time to the play and being able to interact with characters through that. I’m also thrilled to see KC and Bianca together again, I’ve shipped them since The Boiling Point haha.
(Rusty Cage/Never Ever) The promos have played up the hockey team so much, I’m surprised this is the first plot that really gives us a look at them…I’m guessing there’s an unmentioned Tristan B/C-plot involving being bullied by them earlier in the season. Again, I’m really glad we’ve got an A-plot devoted to a new character and it’s semi-related to an issue, that’s gonna help us connect with Cam much earlier than we did with all of S11’s new characters that never got their own stories. KC’s father storyline sounds great too…although it’s essentially the exact same one from Better Off Alone, it’s still gonna give us a chance to understand him better, and the character deserves that. And again, I’m high-fiving the writers for giving Imogen an A-plot that focuses on her and her family, she desperately needed it and it even has a nice backdrop from the introduction of her kooky father last season. The Becky-Adam and Katie-Jake interactions are both interesting too, especially the former.
(Sabotage/Scream) These are pretty vague and there’s no mention of B or C plots for Sabotage. I honestly don’t like any finales too much anymore…they always feel over-hyped and more about plot than character, so we’ll see what happens.

The Boiling Point finale ending was not bad. It had been a long time since anything huge had happened at the school so it didn’t seem too crazy. It was just WAY over hyped. So I swore I wouldn’t buy the hype anymore.
But I did. The In Too Deep finale was not horrible it was really just executed and presented poorly.
The Now or Never finale (believe it or not) was my least favorite yet I loved it secretly. Like I loved the scenes but it was too much. Those whole chapters were too much for one crazy school year. I stand by my thoughts that Now or Never should have ended with Take a Bow.
New Beginnings was actually a pretty good finale for Degrassi. It had that classic Degrassi feel to it almost. No weapons, crashes, or lockdowns. Just a couple of students throwing an end of the summer bash that goes off well and a lot of the students make big choices.
I’m hoping New Beginnings marked a less hectic year for whatever the hell school year they are doing right now. Class of 2013 I suppose. I’m excited for Showdown.

I feel like season 12 is really about character development which is so important because with all the influx of new characters in the last two seasons some of the other characters have been ignored. I also apperciate the idea of incorporating the new characters with the characters already apart of Degrassi. On a another note, I would like to see more parties on Degrassi because it could involve mutiliple characters in one setting and parties are always a part for high school or atleast where I am from. Anyways I’m so excited for Season 12 and I’m not gonna let the hype and media ruin my expectations.
