It looks like MuchMusic is already working on its plans for Degrassi this summer…as they prepare to rack up ad clients who want in on the ratings boost Degrassi’s telenovela block will generate, Much has currently set the timeline for Degrassi Season 12 to premiere on Monday, July 9th:
As you can see the 2012 telenovela will only be 20 episodes over the course of 5 weeks, instead of the 29 eps/7 weeks we had last year. A shorter summer block that starts a couple of weeks earlier than usual is a VERY good thing…from the end of Now or Never until February 24th of this year, you might as well say it’s a 6-month hiatus that we’re going to have suffered through (even with Nowhere To Run, which came and left in the blink of an eye).
This schedule makes it look like they’re going to bring back the fall block of episodes, which will probably start in October. THANK GOD. The breaks in between blocks shouldn’t feel as brutal if that’s the case.
It turns out that I accurately broke the news about Degrassi 11.5 return date to Much almost two months before anyone with official power actually confirmed it, but I’m still airing on the side of caution with this since Season 12 is still five months away. Many things could change between now and then, so treat this info as tentative. Besides, it’s way too early for me to get excited over anything related to Season 12 since we haven’t even started 11.5 yet.

I liked seven weeks, but i think near the last two weeks, they ran out of ideas. and the last week, they sorta just wrapped up the main storylines: gang and eclaire. I think six weeks would have been great, since they made boiling point AND fall episodes in 2010. but now, probably since theyre sharing the lot with the LA Complex, well just have to live with five weeks! Still great news, considering Degrassi Writers posted on Tumblr season 12 is 40 episodes, well still have 20 more episodes after summer! woop woop.

I’m just hoping this is a simultaneous schedule… Taking the good with a small bit of bad here. While I’ll admit that Now Or Never left me a bit spoiled, it would be screwed up if they took 40 episodes and increased the run yet again by making an 8-week telenovela with 32 episodes. This way there’s the same amount of episodes left over that we had after The Boiling Point. The wait between both Seasons 11/12 and the 3 blocks of season 12 will be much shorter. So basically, it’ll be on the same schedule it was in Season 10. The airing schedule would go something like this: Those 20 episodes from July 9th-August 9th, 8 Fall episodes from October 12th-November 30th, followed by 12 Spring episodes from February 8th- either April 12th or 19th, depending on whether they stick with the hour-long finale.

Hey Kary I was just wondering if you know if they will do casting for the second part of season 12 a little later like in March because i have an agent and meet all the requirements but i probally would only get an audition later. Thanks ! and also from past knowledge if the will probally only add more freshman in the second part of season 12.Thanks again and I LOVE your blog i check it everyday!

Thank you so much!! Yesterday (Friday) was the first day of casting for the season, and I think it’s normally just an ongoing process up until a certain point. There’s no guarantee that they’ll add a new group of characters to the second half of Season 12, it all depends on when they’ll let the senior graduate.

Thanks and your right i think their going to keep these seniors for w while cause of munro , luke and katies pretty new. it also took them along time to get new grade 9s but also the brought jenna and dave in the second half. Thanks for your help and hopefully i can get an adition!!!!

does it mean anything that when degrassi started casting for season 11 only 4 names were released does that mean they auditioned all the other new cast members later ?!?
