PLOT A SUMMARY: Drew is one of the volunteers for grade 9 orientation, and wonders why Bianca is a volunteer as well.  She tells him that Vince hurts her and is making her sell drugs, and she’s doing it so that Vince doesn’t come back and kill him.  Drew wants to fight Vince, but Katie talks him into going a more peaceful route.  Drew then gives Bianca a prom ticket so she can spend the night away from Vince.  Drew then secretly meets with Vince and tells him that his days of controlling him and Bianca are over.  Drew also taunts Vince by talking on the phone to Bianca about prom in front of him.

Katie is upset that Drew invited Bianca to prom because she feels like it’s ruined their night.  However, Drew tries to smooth things over by dancing with Katie, and Bianca starts having fun by dancing with Adam.  However, Vince shows up and Drew confronts him.  They fight and Drew wins, but Vince then pulls out a gun and shoots into the crowd…one of the bullets hit Adam in the shoulder.  Vince drops the gun and runs off

While Adam’s taken to the hospital, Drew and Katie search for Bianca, who has the gun and plans to kill Vince.  They find her standing outside of Vince’s hideout, and convince her to call the cops instead.  Adam is okay, and Drew promises to help Bianca get a lawyer so they can put Vince and his thugs away for a long time.

So here’s the dilemma I have with this plot…I was sitting here on the edge of my seat enjoying the episode, then the climax hit (aka the shooting).  After that, it felt like someone had deflated my balloon of excitement.  And suddenly that excitement was replaced by a sense of “I don’t care what happens because it’s all going to wrap up in a neat little bow.”

The exact moment of disappointment was when they revealed Adam had been shot…in the shoulder. No I wasn’t expecting anyone to die, and anyone who thought someone was gonna die in this episode was clearly not paying attention when this season’s death happened earlier in the season.  But this is television, and someone being shot in the shoulder (BY A GANG MEMBER) is an instant cue that they’re going to be ok.  There was no reason for me to worry at that point, and it sucked the life out of what was supposed to be an emotional moment.  A shot to the middle of the body would’ve provided far more uncertainty, and would’ve at least milked the worry of not knowing Adam’s status until the hospital scene.

Before the shooting I‘d say it was a solid “B” plot, with the potential to reach “A“ level depending on Part 2.  I keep thinking about to Season 10 when I talked about how pointless Drianca was because they had no chemistry.  Now Drew and Bianca are at the point where they show more and more chemistry with each episode, and they put Krew to shame.

I enjoyed Part 1 tremendously and was it was a fantastic setup for Part 2, even if it was caused by Drew’s dumb ass taunting Vince.  I thoroughly enjoyed that scene and the ridiculousness of them drinking tea together.  The scene in Part 2 where Bianca stood outside of Vince’s hideout was also great.  It’s definitely Alicia Josipovic’s standout moment on this show.

But here I am still, analyzing a plot that did a lot of good things, but managed to screw up the episode’s most critical moment. A moment that will forever define this episode (the first thing that will come to mind when you mention Dead And Gone is the shooting)…one minor tweak is the difference between this being stellar as opposed to forgettable.

*****************************

PLOT B SUMMARY: Clare and Jake are getting ready for prom when Clare’s mom says she wants them to hang around for a dinner with her and Glen.  At the dinner, Helen and Glen announce that they’re getting married.  Jake’s fine with it, but Clare is stunned and reveals that she and Jake are dating.  Upset, Clare walks all the way to the prom.  She tells Jake they need to stop their parents wedding because Clare thinks her mom isn’t ready for another relationship, but Jake is just glad to see his dad is happy.  Clare also can’t believe that Jake is so calm about the situation…then Jake breaks up with Clare because he’d rather it happen now than later when they’re living together.

Cake plots are one of the few that make my eyes roll to the point I have a headache.  This has just been one of those storylines over the course of Season 11 that’s made no sense on so many levels. And the fact that Clare’s character has deteriorated makes it difficult to watch.  You can compare the emotional breakdowns of two female characters because of relationships, Fiona and Clare, and Clare’s is so infinitely inferior…and I was incredibly high on both characters coming into Season 11.  In this episode instead of coming off as someone who is genuinely concerned about her mom’s well being (thank Jake actually accomplished this with his dad), she just came off as whiny.

The only upside to this plot was that it broke up yet another pointless couple, and it allowed us to get a little peak at Jake outside of Clare’s shadow.

PLOT C SUMMARY: Sav wants to go out on a date with Ms. Oh, but their schedules just won’t allow it.  Because prom is the last chance they’ll ever have to see each other, Mo gives Sav the idea to plan a date at Degrassi since prom is off campus.  On prom night Sav tricks Ms Oh into going to Degrassi to “get the prom king and queen crowns,” and unveils a romantic setting where they slow dance and kiss. However, their night is interrupted when they learn of the shooting at prom, and when they return to the prom venue Ms. Oh says them leaving prom was a mistake. The next day Ms. Oh apologizes, and says she was having a great time on their date before the shooting.  She also says if things had been different they would’ve gotten together, and they say goodbye.

There’s not much more I can say about this plot than I’ve already said before…that it’s bland filler material.  We knew where it was going (because there’s only one direction it could go aka them not getting together), and there was still zero chemistry between them despite them finally being in a romantic setting.  The only notable thing about this has nothing to do with them as a ship, but the final episodes with Sav walking away from Degrassi was endearing.

  3. FINAL ”NOW OR NEVER” THOUGHTS

I absolutley HATED the graduation scene. I know Kary ad already pointed this out but it went by way too fast for us to have a chance to have emotions or feel sad about it. I Hated how they did that. I think the one scene with Riley and his mom was okay, but that could’ve been done in last years ”In too deep” episode where his mom found him kissing zane, the writters didn’t have to wait all the way until he gradtuated for that to happen. Sav and miss Oh was just a filler plot for sav so he could have one last storyline for the show. Zane did have potiental but it wasnt used. SO in the end The graduation scene didn’t affect me as much as the season 7 one with Liberity, emma, manny, toby, spinner, jimmy, etc.

  4. (Even though I said I’ll stay away from the site I just wanted to add some feedback) So anyway, I feel for Clare, as I knok what that’s like /:

As for Drew he’s never been too book smart & we can see he’s not too street smart either. Driana FTW <3 just saying, lol. This storyline has easily been my personal favorite throughout the series, tbh. Gang violence is something that needs to be showen more on shows like degrassi that teens watch and not fricking documentries on channels teens unlikely cross by. The Sav/Anya/Holly J scene melted my heart :) especially since we haven't seen them interact at once since last year. Here's to a Declean cameo and a huge between him and HJ, pretty please? Beyond stoked for tonight & can't wait for the promo afterwards. Question for everyone (& Kary) in your opinion which is better: Now or Never/The Boiling Point? Personally its a dead-ass tie for me, but if I was forced to choose one it'd be Now or Nver. I didn't expect much for it, but it VERY much exceeded my expectations.

  22. I’ll start with my disappointments.

While it was nice to get a brief shot of Holly J via iPad, I can’t believe they spent the entire episode around Drew and Cake. There should have been a lot more senior interaction, especially in the final scene.

I thought the Sav/Alli scene was nice, but they should have all met up in Holly J’s room. How hard would it have been to pan from Adam’s room to HJ’s? There’s no reason why the class of 2011 shouldn’t have gotten the final shot. They were basically glorified extras. Speaking of extras, NO CHANTAY?! How rude.

Adam getting shot was so lame. Stop hyping episodes like this unless you plan to make it truly SHOCKING. Adam getting shot IN THE SHOULDER is not shocking at all. We all knew he was going to live.

Onto the good, as I said above I loved the Ziley scene at prom and thought the Bianca/Adam dance was fantastic. Bianca has really turned around as a character, still keeping her a little rough around the edges. She still looked so much like Mia tonight, I kept doing double takes.

I’m not sure what the point of Sav/Miss Oh if they weren’t planning on bringing this up in the future, but I shouldn’t complain because at least Sav got some closure on his storyline.

I definitely feel they should have done one more wrap-up episode over the summer with the seniors getting ready for university.

i’m pretty convinced that the new promo in the woods MUST be some sort of mini, because at least for me i makes absolutely NO SENSE for all of them to be in a cabin together like that. i mean, there were no teachers there and it didn’t look school sponsored. i mean i understand that grades hang out with each other all the time but bianca, eli, jake, drew, and marisol all in the same cabin? and clare and bianca are hanging out with each other? this either has to be some mini special or else they have some explaining to do.

but then, jake and alli kissed at the end. jake and alli kissing actually makes sense. it could still be a mini, but maybe a foreshadowing of a future relationship? alli did thing that jake was really hot at the beginning of the season, and it would make great drama. maybe alli and jake are harboring broken feelings with dave and clare.

  27. ok thoughts:

    1) Where is the senior send off? The seniors were some of the strongest cast members who we’ve grown to love over the past few seasons and what do they get? Barely 2 speaking lines each in the finale. How terrible. I’m gonna miss them, especially Anya and Holly J.

    2) Adam getting shot in the shoulder. Didn’t we just see this two seasons ago with Spinner getting shot in the shoulder at the Dot? I mean I understand having to repeat things but still the same place? At least shoot him in the leg to be different.

    3) Anyone else think there’s a chance of Claire and Eli getting back together now that he’s semi sane?

    4) Sav and Ms. Oh? What was the point? Seems like just filler material

    5) Did KC drop off the face of the planet after giving up the kid?

    6) Funny how Drew’s mom can semi forgive Bianca for ruining Drew’s life but couldn’t forgive Alli for doing absolutely nothing.

    7) Also, anyone else notice that Drew is still crazy about Bianca? Poor Katie.

All in all I felt this season had a lot of good plot ideas…. that went absolutely nowhere. Jenna and KC got the easy copout of parenthood. Sav once again gets his heart ripped out. Holly J has major surgery and then she’s just gone. Anya and Owen are finally and good place and now she’s gone. Claire is only one who keeps getting plot lines that go anywhere, meaning she’s always getting her heart ripped out.

    1. KC and Jenna had the strongest storyline of the season if you ask me, but there was no follow up once they gave up Tyson.

They should have at least had a C plot dealing with the loss of their child and how they plan on moving on. Honestly, instead of the Wesley/Hannah plot, we should have seen KC and Jenna again.

      2. They can and still should do it, but an immediate follow up would have been nice.

They can have an episode 6 months after the fact where they run into the family and come upon Tyson again, which would be much more emotional as they debate whether they did the right thing.

The fact that we didn’t get one moment of a follow up was sorely lacking.

  30. Not gonna lie I really enjoyed the finale. Or the first 15 minutes of it anyway. The shooting was very intense (and I think the music choice was yet again perfect for the situation), and it helped that I didn’t have any expectations for something good. Jordan Todosey’s acting was believable although a gun shot wound in the shoulder would most likely produce a lot more blood than that. However it’s a teen show so what can ya do? The remainder of the episode I was hoping for something to really finish the season with a shocking moment (Bianca killing Vince despite Drew’s efforts, Bianca killing herself after believing she had no good life ahead of her, Vince surprise killing Bianca as she had a her back turned to the door, Idk something like that), but I was let down.

    – so Vince is a gang leader, but he’s dumb enough to shoot someone in front of a ton of people and drop the weapon at the scene of the crime? wat?

This episode was lame as hell. Which is a common theme with Degrassi these days.

Everyone knew in Drop the World that Eli wasn’t dying. But this was pure bullshit and is why I’m just about done with this show.

        Obviously, I watched it.

Degrassi had a nice little rebirth with the All Falls down half season. Even if the ending was crap, at least the storylines were decent throughout.

Since then, they’ve regressed and have this half season end with a complete and utter bullshit episode.

I’m expecting more of the same next year and can’t say I’ll even bother to tune in

    3. I thought All Falls Down was leagues better. This episode was bad in pacing because most of the interesting suspense happened within the first half. So the second half was boring. They rushed prom when there should of been more closure for other characters like Ownya and Ziley.
All Falls Down was consistent straight through to the end with suspense and acting.
Seriously if you had watched the first half of this episode, you could of just guessed the ending which was everyone gets away happy.

    4. Nothing drastic happened. Adam got shot in the shoulder. It wasn’t life-threatening or touch-and-go. He was going to be fine, just with a little scaring. If Adam was shot dead (or anyone of mediocre importance), that would have been something exciting and unpredictable, like JT getting stabbed. This will basically end up being like Adam got a hangnail.

The was the prom and the focus was mainly on the Juniors. We’re going to see them all through the second half of the season and next summer, but this was the final chance to see the senior class. Why not focus on them one last time?

      1. Maybe at the beginning of the 2nd half they’ll show each of the seniors’ families watching them go. You know, like they did with Emma/Manny/Liberty at the beginning of Season 8. I know we won’t follow them to college but that would work as a last episode.

  40. This episode was bullshit. The way this was hyped I should of expected someone to get shot in the back of the head or the heart but no we have Adam getting shot… IN THE SHOULDER!

But then I remembered that last year we got so hyped up that someone would get stabbed but instead we get fitz stabbing a locker, so my expectations should have been lower in the beginning.

What really saved the episode was, imo Bianca. Her acting seemed pretty good. When she was at the safe house you could see the bitch shaking and almost crying. Though she kinda looked like a ho at a quinceanera. She seems like a nice girl who got cought up in a REALLY bad crowd.

Yes, we understand that Katie and Drew are the new “power couple” but they were the A B and C plot. She has the most boring personality that I have ever seen, and he looks like a cheep Taylor Lautner who is the stupidest person in the world. Who tells a gang member that you have a restraining order against that you are going to prom with. I understand that Katie told him to, but why would you tell him your going to the prom with his “slave”.

Why didn’t the seniors get a good sending off? We get a Holly shot via iPad but where was Chantay? At least we see Riley and Zane and that there going to the same collage, sexy time here they come! Sav got a semi goodbye with Mrs. O but nothing else. There time got cut short because time stood still while Adam gets shot in the arm.

This finale gets a good C-

    1. Katie has zero redeeming qualities. The actress is terribly boring and fails to connect with the audience on the more emotional scenes. (e.g. the bulimia plot) It seems like Katie would be more emotional with the whole bulimia rumor, but she was rigid and cold. She’s isn’t a very likable character and the actress has a lisp which bothers me a lot. Alicia is one of the strongest actors on the cast. The last few minutes of Bianca and Drew standing outside of the safe house was some of the best acting scenes I’ve watched on the show all summer.

The Boiling Point was the definition of hype with the whole “STRAIGHT TO THE BOILING POINT *BOOM!*” Plus Stephen hyped that on twitter. No one really hyped it at all. Everyone on Twitter just said the time it’s coming on and to watch it. So let’s not abuse the word “hype” when it did not occur. The correct word is ADVERTISING.

    1. If you follow the actors, writers and EP on Twitter, they could no stop hyping the episode for the last couple of days. On top of the TN promo, it was pretty much over-hyped to he point of being played out even before it aired. I guess it’s my fault for following them, but when I read things like “Buckle up! It’s going to be a crazy ride!,” I can’t help but think the episode is going to blow my mind on the same level as “he wants us to move the island.”

Also you can’t expect TN not to show the promo to the ONLY new show they have that’s having a season finale. I’m glad they did that because they really got the attention of a lot of people and as some of us seen Degrassi took over twitter. Tons of trending topics all over.

  45. Drianca and Eclare will be back together at one point next season. The chemistry between Drew and Bianca was amazing. They have a really special relationship, despite all of the crap they’ve been through. Drew obviously cares for Bianca a lot, and it doesn’t seem like he has that kind of connection (or any connection) with Katie. Plus, Katie going along with Drew to find Vince and Bianca was really stupid. What the hell did she think she was going to do if Vince came out of the house and started shooting?! NADA. If anything, I’m convinced Drew and Bianca will end up together again and it won’t be some random hookup like their first encounter. Bianca’s changed a lot this season and she obviously loves Drew because she risked her life for him and he did the same thing (twice) for her. Katie’s definitely getting replaced next season.

The Cake plot was pointless. If nothing, it served a way to open the lines of communication for Eli and Clare. The lack of a proper senior plot was just horrific. This is the last time we’ll see Holly J, Sav, Riley, Zane, Anya, and Chantay and they were barely on the episode. Overall, I thought this episode was really good. Obivously very predictable, but good.

i called everything that happened to Adam, i knew he was the one shot, and i guess he was shot in the shoulder. i cried, mostly because Adam is my favorite character, and that the reactions, ESPECIALLY Drew’s was very real. the way he was like hugging Adam and stroking his hair, i got so upset, because you got to see how close they were.

Overall: Didn’t wow me already knew what was going to happen before and as the episode went along. I also agree with what everyone is saying NO SENIOR SENDOFF!!!! NO CHANTAY’S FUNKY DANCE MOVES AND FACES!!! Absolutely no justice to characters we seen grow-up for 4seasons now!!!

Thugs Just Want to Have Fun (With Guns)- Alicia Josipovic (Bianca) was amazing tonight! Her acting was so believable and lines well delivered. Drews cage fighting paid off but not so much.

I Now Pronounce You Step-Siblings – I liked Jake in this episode. He really does care for his father and doesn’t want anyone to get hurt or fell awkward. I don’t know why everyone is saying it will be alright if they dated even though their parents got married. While Glen is getting busy upstairs Cake is getting busy down stairs. Clare is selfish and dramatic didn’t like her this season at all AND COULDN’T THEY HAVE GOTTEN HER ALL DOLLED UP FOR PROM.

Special Classes- Sav and Ms.Oh blah. Like the last scene though.

  53. OK so my final thoughts on the mid-season finale.

Unlike most people on here, I thought the midseason finale was well done, emphasis on the word midseason. A lot of people are complaining about Katie and Drew getting too much screen time but we all have to remember that we’re only halfway through season 11.

My thoughts on senior storylines- I’m sure most will disagree with me on here but I don’t think the way the senior storylines wrapped up was that horrible. Naturally, these have been some of our favorite characters for years now but I’m unsure what else the show could have done. To have another entire episode devoted to the seniors after prom would have been pointless and more just a memento/montage for hardcore fans. What would such an episode even be about? Stephen Stohn has made it clear that Degrassi is endgame (sorry couldn’t resist lol) and once you graduate, we won’t see those character again. I remember how excited I was that when Emma, Manny, Liberty, Marco, Ellie and Paige graduated that we still got to see their characters, and I also remember how sad I became that some of my favorite characters became stuck in some of the stupidest storylines (emma getting high in the college dorm anyone?) Degrassi has proven that it only works as high school show, so to show Holly J, Sav, Anya, Riley, Chantay and Zane getting prepared for college would truly be pointless.

Sav and Ms Oh- was consistently boring and perfectly satisfactory filler material. I personally like the ending with Sav and Alli because it’s a way of recognizing the seniors are leaving (especially when he looked at the handprints of Holly J, Anya and Chantay) and passing the torch on to Alli who will now become an upperclassmen herself.

Drew/Bianca/Adam- the best thing about this plot for me was Bianca. I was really drawn in by her character and I felt how sad it must be to not have anyone who cares about you. I really hope to see more of Bianca’s home life next season. Where are her parents that she could be spending so much time with someone like Vince without anyone noticing. To me she’s this generations Alex and I am interested to see where her character ends up. Bianca and Drew have so much chemistry I have no idea why the writers are still even keeping up the farce of him and Katie. I like that Drew tried so hard to protect Bianca, even if his efforts were completely misguided and I would love to see these characters reunite in the future. Of course we all knew that Adam wasn’t going to die! But i’m not sure what everyone is so upset about. I’m unsure if the consensus is that Degrassi should stop attempting to have these dramatic storylines unless it’s really “going to go there” (pun intended) or that they should stop trying to be so dramatic at all (no more guns or knifes please!).

Cake- Thank you sweet baby Jesus that this relationship is over. Part of the reason I didn’t comment on part 1 is because I wanted to better understand Jake’s thoughts about him and Clare’s parents getting married. In part 2 I get the sense that Jake truly wants his father to be happy, also I think he’s wise enough to understand that him and Clare are in a high school relationship that probably won’t outlast a marriage (no matter how rushed). And furthermore the two of them continuing a relationship even though their parents are married would just be too weird (even if they’re not blood related).

Eclare- I knew the writers would sneak in a moment between these two. It was cute, but I’m over them and am ready for them to be nothing more than friends.

Long post but it’s the last one!

  54. Ooo almost forgot about the promo after the season finale:

It is a Halloween special I think Stephen Stohn tweeted about it and I think Kary may have mentioned it on here, and from what I read it’s supposed to air sometime in October. It’s definitely supposed to be less conventional plot wise (i.e. all the characters hanging out in a cabin).

I’m excited that we will have an hour long special to tide us over until the second half of season 11 starts next year!

Also Jake and Alli kiss: YES! This pairing makes sense to me. When Jake was first introduced in Now or Never the scene where he and Ali shared a look was so intense. They had more chemistry in that 15 seconds than the entirety of he and Clare’s relationship. I’m just happy to know that after this kiss the chances of Cake getting back together are slim to none. Also even though I love the Clare/Alli relationship this will make for such an interesting plot between the two of them. Anywho, this is all based on a 10 second promo so really we’ll just have to wait and see.

I’m just not sure I want to go back to Eclare again. They never worked for me on any level.

She was so insensitive to Jake because he wants his dad to be happy. It’s all about Clare ARG!! As for her mom same deal. Helen should have talked to Clare about this one on one. If Clare keeps this up nobdy will want to date her. I think Clare just wants what Clare wants. She did this to Eli too about her parents divorce. Clare does not get what she wants she throws a tizzy. I rather see Eli with Imogen.

I am happy with Bianca appologizing to Adam and had that dance. I also understand why Katie was upset. She was standing by her man. I hope she is OK :)

i think that it should have taken the route to emphasize that jake’s parents have been divorced for a pretty long time and that he can sort of accept it, and clare’s parents just got divorced basically a month ago. i kind of wish they took that approach with clare being angry not much or less that that means she’s his sister, but much more the effects of a kid dealing with divorce and the fact that their parent got over the other so quickly.

It’s barley the same show and yet we continue watching because we remember the good old days in season 1-7. Season 9, 10, and so far 11 are just so bad. We don’t need every finale to end with a play or a dance. Especially when the knife went into the locker, the “morty” was the confirmed death, and Adam only got shot in the arm.

At this rate we’re looking at an upcoming cancellation.

I mean this is the last time they will be regulars. We’ve got plenty of time to see the non-graduates. Not a glimpse of Chantay? She may have gotten on my nerves after being on this show for sooo many years, but she deserved at least to have one tiny scene in the background or being at the table when everyone was talking to Holly J.

Bianca and Drew did an outstanding job as well. Don’t know if I want them back together though so we will have to see what happens in the fall. I kind of like Drew and Katie for now; she has a bit of a soothing effect on him.

Glad that Adam is ok. That actress who plays Imogen she mentiond in a video that she wants Adam and Imogen as a couple. I never thought of it until she mentioned it and I think that it would be a fantastic idea. They are different. Plus Adam needs someone…it seems like he hasn’t had much luck with any girls. Eli and Imogen are just too similar and for some reason she doesn’t seem like herself around him. Almost like it’s forced. I prefered the interaction with Bianca, unlike the crushing over Eli storyline, as it seemed more real and I started to warm up to her a bit after those scenes.

So glad that Cake is done. They were good for a while, but there was never really anything “spectacular” with them. Eclare–you can tell they are so not over. Just the look and the smiles in this eppy said it all

These are just my opinions. Can’t wait for the mid-season premiere!!

Not that I want Drew to get shot, I’m just saying I don’t like when the writers treat us like we’re stupid, like “look at this hardcore gangset who holds his gun SIDEWAYS like an experience shooter and shoots at a person standing 3 feet in front of him and still manages to miss!” Also…Vince shot off multiple shots into the crowd and only hit Adam? Seriously?!

How come when Holly J snuck into Degrassi after hours for a date with Declan (BEFORE the enhanced security), there were security cameras and they got busted, but after the stabbing at the last dance (during which Sav was also making out with someone in an empty classroom at Degrassi), Sav and Ms. Oh can have their private little rendezvous?

    MAJOR PLOTHOLE, DEGRASSI. C’MON.

OMG Degrassi sucks yet I continue to visit this site and post comments! Degrassi is Degrassi people. It’s the same show it was years ago. Characters dealing with high school issues. I don’t see a downfall, I see an improvement. You want bad degrassi? Go back to season 8 and 9. THOSE were bad.

    1. We come here to talk about our feelings toward the episode. It doesn’t matter of those feelings are positive or negative; they are our feelings.

It was lame to me and many other people that Adam was the one to get shit.
      1. It was obvious from the promos
      2. There was no danger, because it was only his arm as opposed to his midsection
      3. Vince fired three shots, and yet somehow Adam was the only victim? I call that very LAME

It’s only the same show in name and location. Keep in mind that the characters are not even the same anymore. After 11 seasons plots get re-used and the show naturally gets worse. Degrassi has been getting worse since season 8.

Degrassi is VERY mich about couples now. Even the gang story goes back to Drew and B being a couple. All Clare does is whine about relationships. The adoption story, while a good story, also was about KC cheating on Jenna. It wasn’t all about Tyson. Marisol and Katie’s fight was about relationships. Even Clare’s mom has gotten into this whole relationship trend. Enough is enough. Give us back slumber parties and just friends hanging out. We don’t need someone always screaming “didtou ever love me at all?”
Wouldn’t degrassi be better without Krew or Cake?

All the emotion I thought I was going to feel during the shooting came out during that scene. So unexpected that I felt that way. And just so Incredible. And now I think I may finally get behind Drianca, now that her and Adam have officially made up. I honestly don’t know why Katie is bothering staying with Drew; it’s pretty clear where his true feelings lie. It’s too bad though, I liked Krew at first but the chemistry is just not there. :/

Second best part of the episode was Sav saying goodbye to school one last time. LOVED that they reused “Young Blood” by The Naked and Famous again, it was perfect.

I don’t think it’s going to hit me that the seniors are gone until the second half of S11 premieres and they’re not there anymore…

  81. Hey guys, the shooting was not the main part of the episode. It was a plot device. Yes, it was the climax of the episode, but the plot was about Drew finding out about Bianca and her “complicated relationship” with Vince and trying to help her.. The fact that Vince came and shot Adam and ditched the gun was simply almost filler.. They didn’t want Adam to die, but they needed something intense to happen, and if you asked me, it was intense. If you don’t think so, then your hopes were up waaaaaay too high. When Adam got shot, I felt emotional because it truly was an amazing scene, and Alicia Josipovic stole the show with her performance in the alleyway. I give the main plot for this episode a solid A+. It pulled me in throughout the whole episode, whether it was Drew trying to get Katie and Bianca to get along or Bianca telling Drew how screwed up her life is because of this mess.

If you think these seasons suck, then just stop watching the show. In your mind, your expectations are too high. A few episodes suck and you’re like “Hey, this finale better be fucking (excuse my french) amazing” and when it doesn’t completely blow you away, the whole show sucks. If that’s your attitude (which it is for the most of you), then the show isn’t going to get any better. I have started watching the show during like Season 3 and I’ve always been intrigued by these episodes and I’m pretty sure I haven’t missed one for a long time.. If this show isn’t working for you anymore, stop watching it, because complaints is the last thing that people want this page’s comments to be filled with. No, stating your opinion isn’t bad, but it’s the people that blatantly say “this finale sucked like Drop the World and All Falls Down but I’m going to keep watching the show because I like coming on here and complaining about how laughable these plots are and these stupid relationships.. herp derp..”

    Main Plot: A+
    Cake: B-
    Sav/Ms. Oh: C+

    1. My problem with the shooting was that it was used as a plot device that went nowhere. They really need to stop hyping up these finales as some huge event. If you look at the earlier seasons, they had big events right smack in the middle of the season (Paige’s rape, Craig going batshit crazy, JT’s death, etc.) I really don’t think they need to have an underlying plot/theme for the summer season leading up to some climactic event. Just tell good stories with interesting characters and fans will keep watching.

  82. Plots we’d like to see for the second half of Season 11:

    – Clare visits a doctor for help with her personality disorder. Clare kisses
the doctor. Doctor flees to Kenya. Clare is anguished and says, “But what
about ME?!” Clare visits another doctor for help with her personality disorder.
    Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

    – Katie’s hidden sexual passions are finally awakened by the sight of the bloody
and injured Adam. A sensitive A Plot then follows concerning the difficulties
encountered by teens who are into BDSM.

    – Marisol, who turns out to have ties to an international anti-Canada terrorist
organization, supplies Wesley with several pounds of uranium 235. But rather than
building an atomic weapon, Wes uses the uranium to become popular by supplying
every student at Degrassi with a nuclear-powered, glow-in-the-dark iPhone.

    – A lonely Ms. Oh visits an art gallery, where she meets a lonely Charlie and asks
Charlie and Mr. Tuxedo Pants to move in with her. The next day, while randomly peeking
through private windows throughout town in a search for violations of School
Regulations, Mr. Simpson spies Ms. Oh and Charlie in flagrante delicto. Mr. Simpson
then schedules a conference with Ms. Oh and her mother, at which time he cautions
Ms. Oh about Degrassi Policy regarding relationships with second-string characters.

    – Eli, Jake, Dave, and Drew go fly fishing together. After discussing how all the girls at
Degrassi are hopelessly, totally fucked up, they decide the only logical course for them
is to flee to Kenya. A Degrassi spin-off series is thus born…Degrassi: The Lost World.

While many have said before, Katie didn’t really need to be there while Drew was going through his issues. I think I have changed my tune IF a love triangle forms with Drew-Katie-Bianca.

Plus, Katie sounds like a five year old boy when she talks. She’ll never be Holly J. No matter if Holly was nice or a huge bitch, you knew she was always in charge by overall person. Katie, not so much.

But then think it’s perfectly ok for her mom to get remarried after dating Jake’s dad for like 5 minutes? I don’t blame her for being upset and wanting to stop the wedding. The ink on the divorce papers isn’t even dry yet! Also, people seem to foget how much this must be messing with her head. She was raised her whole life to believe marriage is a sacred, “til death do us part” bond. Now, she finds out not only was her dad cheating, but her mom is getting remarried. That contradicts everything she’s ever been taught…that’s a HUGE mindfuck! Take a look at Clare’s life so far: sister packs up & leaves never to be heard from again, loses her first boyfriend to her so- called friend, goes through an emotional roller coaster ride with Eli, rebounds with Jake only to get dumped again and now (apparently) she’s going to have to deal with him & her best friend betraying her. With all this baggage, I’m surprised she’s not a drug addict, alcoholic with an eating disorder sleeping with anything that moves. The fact that she hasn’t done anything like this shows that the real Clare is still in there somewhere. I really hope when the show returns they reunite the misfits, toughen Clare up a little and stop dressing her like a soccer mom.

She just jump into a relationship and so did her mother. I can’t blame Clare I blame her parents. Clare parents kind of shut her out of the real world. Now she becoming a woman she is confused about relationships. This was the problem with her and Eli, He wanted more and Clare basically freaked. Clare is not known to have a serious conversation without fighting or getting defensive. Like Eli wanted to take a small trip with her to mend there problems Clare assumed it was about sex. But that is not Eli wanted. He wanted to talk. Sorry about the rant.

First off, I don’t understand how you can build almost two seasons off of Bianca and Drew’s relationship to have it ended by some girl who comes in one season, and we knew nothing of her the season prior. There have been some episodes in the series that I enjoyed, like following Eli’s struggle through the break-up with Clare and his Bi-Polar Disorder. Clare and Jake’s relationship was trying to be put in one freaking season, but I hope to see something better happen with it. With the numerous misses Sav has had, I felt like he shouldn’t have even been a character on the show, and he has been on the show A WHILE. I only hope the writers fix up theses character developments and make something good. A lot of these main characters turned into recurring ones, and we are left wondering what is going to happen with them(nothing). Please, please, please….!!!(Please!) Degrassi writers, when you make characters, we get the intention that they are supposed to be around for a couple of seasons, so do something with them!

I also agree with whoever said that Allie and Jake make sense, as they had their little moment when he was first introduced.

I liked Katie better in the episodes where she was firm with Claire, and a real professional running the paper. This weak, whiny Katie is so pathetic.

On another note, I can’t stand it when people say things like “OMG, the older cast was better! It was so much more realistic! There is too much drama on this show!” Stop watching then, please. I could say a lot of things to bash the old cast and characters and storylines, but I won’t.

  90. Okay, I understand the whole new characters and new storylines and everything else, but since when has this show been so dumb and waaayyyy too unrealistic ? I mean, yes .. Degrassi has always been a little out there , but the new Degrassi episodes have stuff that’s going on that is just too un-relatable . I mean, the topics and subjects that they are exploring are relatable , but just not the way they go about it . I don’t know if it’s the script itself, or maybe just the actors .
But anyway, I have some questions .
    1. It just now dawned on me – Wtf happened to the freaking PDA rule ? I remember when they came back from Vegas Night , people weren’t even allowed to be an arms length close to someone .
2 . Where the hell were the adults when Drew and Vince got into the fight ? I mean, it wouldn’t have stopped the shooting, but it would have made the scene a lot more realistic .
3 . Am I the only one that actually kind of likes Clare ? Bahah. & Am I the only one who is annoyed about the whole Clare and Jake’s parents getting together ? I thought maybe they would develop Clare into a better character with having Jake around instead of Eli . I liked E-Clare, but it got annoying . & I Found it hilarious the few times Jake would look at her like she was a dumb drama-queen when she said certain things that were just really out there . I must admit though, the last scene with Clare and Eli talking, I thought it was a pretty good scene. People probably took that as them getting back together, I thought of it more as a friendship type thing . But whatever . I just hope they don’t get back together .
4 . Since when did Degrassi become a horror flick ? Like , the promos for the next part of season 11 look like there’s some killer on the loose , and Jake has a crowbar or something in his hand . ?
Anyyywaayyy . I really miss how they used to do the old Degrassi’s , but I’m still a fan & I’m not gonna quit watching it . But still .
Oh yeah , I was really sad to see Holly J , Sav , Anya , and Riley graduate . They were the last of the somewhat originals . Chantay ? I didn’t care about her though . xD I feel like she should have graduated five years ago… Lmao .
But yeah, enough typing for me . I’d be surprised if anyone reads this whole thing . Haha .

Snake and Spike show up JUST IN TIME! OH EM GEE, HOW WONDERFUL! Toby and Manny and JT, who were in 7th grade, managed to figure out how to find where Emma was just in the nick of time. YEAH RIGHT. What about the school shooting with Rick? And then JT getting stabbed? Paige getting raped, the love triangles with Manny/Emma/Craig, Manny/Ashley/Craig and then Manny/Paige/Spinner, JT/Liberty/Mia, Peter/Emma/Manny, Darcy/Paige/Spinner. Darcy getting date raped, contracting an STI. Mia getting a modeling contract? I meant, really, the entire show has always been pretty crazy, and that’s the entire point. They can’t just have a bunch of high school kids sitting around at school or home. That would be a failure of a show.

  98. Alright, a lot of people seem to be hard on the Clare/Cake/Eclare mess. Which, to be fair, could have been written better. Overall this season there were two primary issues with the relationship:

    1. In the process of writing it so much screentime was given ‘selling’ the couple, that we saw very little of Clare as back-up cast to Alli or Adam plots. Meaning that it was Cake or nothing for her screentime. Which is painful to do because I would have liked to see more Clare as a supporting role.
    2. They focused so much on Cake as a relationship we got very little focus on the far more interesting Clare dealing with her mother issues. Which if that was the focus would have put the entire Dead and Gone plot in a new light.

Clare’s mom was acting very much like a teenager/college student as far as we see from Clare’s perspective on the entire plot. Getting in late, leaving Clare to fend for herself. They also rushed into a marriage after, what? 2-3 months of dating? Tack on Clare’s faith related issues and her mother kinda pushing her religious beliefs to the side for a guy she’s just met? Clare’s got several good reasons to be pissed at her mom. Especially in that dinner where her mother demanded Cake end so she can get married. Clare’s acting selfish is called ‘being a teenager’ her mother’s being selfish gets to be put in a whole different light.

WHICH WE GOT NEXT TO NOTHING OF IN THE PLOTLINES!

If that were the focus instead of on trying to sell Cake as “Twoo Luv” we would have had a much better season start-off. The plot would have been able to look into Clare’s emotional state AND Jake’s by proxy as he tries to help Clare deal with her parent related angst. Figure out where Jake sits about his dad, and what his dad should have. Which would set-up the ending plot to the half-season mark so much better than what they had.

I get the feeling the writers either expect us to all know how children in a divorce act/think, or they are saving Clare’s parental drama for the second half. Either way they dropped the ball on this one. Hell, they could have just given one scene or so per plot to Clare’s growing irritation at her mother’s antics.

  100. The problem is people need to stop listening to hype. It’s always going to happen (especially in TeenNick promos), but it’s your choice whether or not you should believe it. After the DTW catastrophe, I chose to have no expectations and avoid any and all sneak peeks and social networking sites, and I’ve been coming away from episodes far more satisfied. Also, for the people continuing to complain that this show is just far too removed from TNG, give up now. Degrassi will continue to change, so either learn to embrace the changes or find a different show to watch. Frankly, the comparisons are getting old.

Anyways… I rewatched the finale, and I like it more the second time around. I think what makes this episode good to me are all the little moments. It’s just a shame they couldn’t make this episode go from good to great by executing the climax better. There’s nothing wrong with anyone’s acting in that scene, but the lack of fatality in Adam’s wound makes everyone’s reactions overdramatic as hell.

Also I think I’m the only one that doesn’t mind the lack of senior sendoff in Dead And Gone. Their main sendoff was clearly in Take A Bow, at least the girls anyway. Ziley didn’t need a huge sendoff because they’re so far removed from the rest of the school anyways. Their few moments together was good enough. As for Sav, he was the C-plot of this episode, and the fact that he was the final shot of Now or Never was good enough for me as well. Besides, I feel like they needed to make the finale about the new upperclassmen to give us something to look forward to in the future.

I kinda also love how the Edwards women are paralleling each other. Just please, sweet baby Jesus, keep Clare single for awhile. It’s getting harder and harder to defend her the more stupid shit she pulls because of relationships. I just need Clare to stop trying to bury her feelings about everything, be honest with herself for once, and learn to deal better.

Another thing: If you’re a viewer that really loathes the sight of Eclare THAT much, I suggest you find a different show. This is clearly a couple to stay.

    1. Well I really don’t loath at the sight of Kitty Forman 2.0 (Clare), I just think her behaviors are really ridiculous. Her whole ” WHAT ABOUT MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE?!?” antics are just annoying to see.

Yes your mom did go from a nice christian woman to slutty msslut slut in a matter of episodes, and I do realize that shes not down with ” im dating my moms new hubby’s child”. Since lumberjack Jake is, Kitty Forman 2.0 should suck it up and just go with the flow.

I also like cuckoo bananas Eli better then jake (look up cuckoo bananas if you aren’t familiar with the original cast of D-TNG). Munros acting is way better then the guy who plays Jake (since he is such a terrible actor, im not even looking him up). I actually liked eclare, but the amount of screen time they got was overboard.

      1. Nice bit you’re running there, but if you watched the episode Clare’s objection to the wedding is that her mom isn’t ready to be married again. Jake and Clare broke up because Jake is on board with the wedding as he thinks it’ll make his dad happy, and Clare wasn’t because she’s sure her mother is rushing into something.
