PLOT A SUMMARY: Katie is running for class President.  Meanwhile, she finds out Marisol still has a crush on Drew.  Drew asks Katie out, but she doesn’t want to accept because she doesn’t want to hurt Marisol.  However, Marisol finds out and decides to run against Katie in the election.  Katie tries to apologize, but the only way Marisol will forgive her is if she ends things with Drew.  Katie doesn’t, and they end up mudslinging at an assembly.  Marisol then tells Drew that Katie is bulimic, which Katie denies.

The rumor that Katie has bulimia spreads around the school, and while on Adam and Dave’s radio show she takes a “lie detector test” with an app, and fails when they ask her if she’s ever been bulimic.  She binges on food and almost throws up in the bathroom, but stops herself.  Marisol walks in and Katie tells her that she hates her.  Katie tells Drew the truth and he’s accepting.  At the debate Marisol tells the school that she made up Katie being bulimic.  Katie wins the election and chooses Marisol to be VP, but Drew tells Katie that he doesn’t want to be around Marisol because of what she put Katie through.

In the end, everything comes down to the fact that Katie and Marisol isn’t a friendship I care about.  Before this episode we know they’re best friends only because it’s been stated, and not really seen.  This isn’t like watching say Alli/Clare, or Holly J/Fiona or Emma/Manny fight because there’s no emotion for me when it comes to their friendship.

It also doesn’t help that there’s no chemistry between Krew to begin with, so I don’t care who he ends up with.  The only emotion came in hating Marisol’s actions, which became more deplorable as they went on in Part 1.  And in Part 2, the rumors spreading about Katie and bulimia reached a new level of ridiculous. Really? A lie detector app? And we’re going to confront the girl about a serious issue (rumor or not) on a radio show broadcast to the entire school? No one in the entire school seemed to show any form of concern, and it‘s weird to me that something like bulimia would be treated like it were casual gossip about two people sleeping together or something.

To be honest there were actually some good things about this plot.  I didn’t feel like Katie’s bulimia was “wrapped up” quickly, because she said that she still has the urge to purge.  In hindsight her rigid, controlling behavior in previous episodes now makes a lot of sense.

Also, don’t forget anything and everything Mo in this episode. Fantastic.

The best part hands down was the ending.  I thought it was going to end “happily ever after,” but love how Drew couldn’t forgive Marisol even if Katie could, and has no desire to be around her.  If only I were grading the episode on that final scene it’d be get an “A,” but alas these newbies succumbed to mediocrity.

PLOT B SUMMARY: Sav and Ms. Oh continue to flirt with each other through music.  Ms. Oh plays a song for Sav that she wrote about him, but runs out halfway through it.  Ms. Oh says they shouldn’t see each other outside of class and her feelings for him are wrong, but Sav kisses her.  Sav calms a rowdy class for Ms Oh, but she says she doesn’t need him sticking up for her and apologizes for leading him on.  Mr. Simpson confronts the two about rumors they’ve been together, and Sav lies and says he’s the one that started the rumor to look cool in front of other students.  In the end Ms. Oh tells Sav he’s a great guy, and gives him a cd with her phone number on the back for him to call her after graduation.

There really isn’t much to say about this plot except to point out how boring and disappointing it was.  It could’ve been something fantastic, but it became a ho hum, back-and-forth relationship that never even really happened.

Neither Sav and Ms. Oh nor Ray and Cory showed any level of chemistry.  They couldn’t have gone anywhere anyway because Sav’s graduating, and it’s not like they’re going to run off together or anything.  What makes this annoying is this is the second pointless plot Sav has had with a girl in Season 11.  It’s like they have nothing for him to do, but at the same time they don’t want to give him the Riley/Zane treatement.  I would’ve rather him been in an Adam-type role, and just appear in a ton of episodes as a support character instead of this.  What a shame for Sav Bhandari to exit Degrassi on a lame note.

*************************

PLOT C SUMMARY: Eli is in therapy and has learned he has bipolar disorder.  He returns to school on a mission: to apologize to those he’s hurt.  Fiona accepts his apology, but Jake doesn’t.  Eli then becomes fixated on getting Jake to forgive him.  When he sees Jake and Clare arguing, Eli thinks he can get Jake to forgive him by helping him deal with Clare.  Though annoyed, Jake agrees to work with Eli on building a sweat lodge for a class project, but he also refuses to listen to Eli’s advice on Clare.  Eli then comes up with the idea to trap Clare and Jake in the sweat lodge and have them talk things out…and it works.  Eli then apologizes to Imogen, and offers her to take her to The Dot because he wants to be her friend.

I found myself enjoying Eli’s recovery, as well as the interaction between him and Jake.  It felt realistic that Eli just couldn’t get away with an apology to Jake, and in turn became fixated on receive forgiveness from him because Eli felt like he couldn’t heal until that happened.  I’m not sure what we’re supposed to make of Cake, except that their relationship seemed very exposed in this episode.  They were slapped together like it was nothing and the perception from that point on has been that they’re a happy couple.  But here that’s not the case, and from the way they were arguing this can’t possibly be the first argument they’ve had as an official couple.

Everyone has been wanting Eli to get help, and now he’s doing so.  I’m enjoying it (as well as the break we’ve been given from the romantic side of the Eclare drama for now).

  1. Decent episode but made great by Eli’s plot.

Katie/Marisol/Drew-These girls are way too new to be getting A-plots already and people don’t really care for them yet. Marisol’s behavior was interesting, i don’t think we’ve seen a charecter like her’s besides Holly J S7, even Paige wasn’t that cruel. And yeah Drew/Katie have very little chemistry, so their scenes make me cringe >.<

Sav/Ms. Oh- Just utter filler and that kiss? maybe i'm over reacting but i'd say that was the worest kiss ever in the degrassi series.

Eli-This plot is all sorts of awesomeness. Seeing Elid eal with the aftermath of his actions is just great continuation. And Eli/Fiona scenes just melt my heart :) but not in the lovey dovey way just in a friendship way kinda like Ellie/Marco and they have uber crazy chemistry. <3

Can't believe there are only 5 episodes left, this went by crazy fast! :O

Regardless Mo is an amazing character and he deserves to be president. How could they take the fries out the caf!?

  3. The Miss Oh/Sav kiss was disgusting and unromantic. I was cringing in my seat. It’s a shame that Sav’s last plot on the show involves him hooking up with a random teacher, who happens to have feelings for him. Sav has been a pretty boring character from the start. All he’s ever been was a lap dog or too afraid of his parents to do much of anything.

Eli being bi-polar seems like cliched writing. Like the writers couldn’t come up with something to explain his erratic behavior besides mental illness. Breakups are hard and I think Eli took his relationship with Clare overboard. And the Jake stuff bores me. This plot has become too much like a bad soap opera for me.

I do agree that Marisol and Katie do not need an A-plot! It is too soon for them, especially Katie. Maybe this episode should have waited for next season. Luke (Drew) has had the best chemistry with Alicia (Bianca). Even off-screen they look like they’d make a great couple.

I hope ‘Dead and Gone’ doesn’t suck. I’m looking for drama and suspense and don’t want to figure out the ending during the first 10 minutes. I don’t think Drew gets shot because that seems way too easy. I think it’s Bianca most likely, but I don’t think the victim dies. Shouldn’t Degrassi hire security guards to monitor all school functions? Because every single dance is always screwed up by a fake stabbing with a plastic knife or fire.

    1. I think Dead and Gone is going mostly about the getting rid of the baggage of past relationships. Just move foward. In an Interview with Daniel Kelly he said there is going to be a real big fight. Aislinn said on her Twitter that there is going to be blood, sweat and lots of tears. So will see…..

  4. I actually loved that the girl he needed by his side is Fiona and Not Clare. That to me means he is moving on. I love Goldcoyne. Fiona actually brings the softer side of Eli the one many people miss. The reason I like them there is no sexual tension (as of yet). We may have to wait and see. I honestly think Fiona is pretty scared of intiment relationships because of her past. I also like that she has a male friend now.

Marisol is a a big hypocritical bitch. I hope she opens her eyes and realized that friends don’t do this to each other.

I don’t really like Winnie and Sav. I am not feeling it.

    2. Agreed. I just assumed Eli was talking about either Clare or Imogen that I didn’t even consider Fiona, so it really warmed my heart when he went to apologize to her first. It’s nice to see a friendship on Degrassi that has basically no chance of becoming anything more than that, and yet ironically enough I find they have more chemistry than the majority of couples on this show.

At the beginning I really loved this character!

Now, I see her as a terrible friend overall… If she knew Katie has a eating disorder why didn’t she seek help for her? At the least told Katie’s parents.

No! She go and tell Drew to sabotage her friend.

    7. If Vince doesn’t directly seek vengeance against Drew by shooting him, he will by hurting someone Drew cares about. The recent promos have changed any assumption I had that it might be Katie and Bianca. Why? Because why would Eli and Clare look so alarmed for either of them? There’s only one person it could be, and it’s the best friend they have in common… Adam. Oh, and also if you look carefully at both promos, Katie and Drew are unharmed and Bianca stands in a corner as Clare and Eli rush to someone on the ground.

I absolutely loathe that this gang scenario is now a threat to the entire student body (it’s starting to sound like a cheesy plot any other teen drama can do), however, I’m interested in seeing the repercussions this will have on the characters and the school. Because we all know Adam won’t die, he’s too important of a character to kill off, haha.

    3. I’m like 99 percent sure it’s Adam. If you freeze the teen nick promo at just the right spot, you get a frame of Katie, Clare and Eli kneeling over a body- we can’t see the face but their wearing a whit button down shirt and there’s blood on the person’s chest. Katie looks worried, Clare is almost in tears and Eli looks as if he’s talking to the person. Also the person has their hand wrapped around Eli’s arm. Adam is the only logical explanation for these 3 characters to be concerned about and being that Vince is in a confrontation with Drew, it makes sense that Adam as Drew’s brother would be involved. I personally don’t think Adam is going to die, nor do I want him to but i’m kind of shocked by everyone on here saying he’s an unimportant character. Adam has probably been in more episodes of Now or Never than any other character this season (including Eli). Just because he’s not always the lead doesn’t make him irrelevant. Plus ppl also have to consider how an injury to Adam affects all the other characters (Drew, Eli, Clare, Dave, Katie, Fiona) would all be affected by this.

Personally Teen Nick gives too much away, I didn’t even really have to try that hard to figure out that Adam was shot. For hardcore fans these kinds of promos are simply too revealing.

  15. Ok so part 2 wasn’t great but it also wasn’t a total disaster.

Sav/Ms. Oh- Complete snoozefest! I was at least hoping for a little drama with Simpson possibly revealing who had spread the rumor about them, but of course not. All we got was a lackluster wrap-up to an even more lackluster storyline. The best thing about this plot is that it’s finally over. I feel the need to add that part of my upset about this plot stems from the fact that I really enjoyed Sav as a character on Degrassi. He wasn’t my favorite, but he was endearing and loveable. I really hope that next year’s seniors get a better send off than this season’s.

Eli- I love that Eli is trying to mend fences, it’s a great position for the writers to place him into for next season, because it will essentially leave his storyline wide open for the next school year. And I LOVED LOVED all of the Eli/Fiona interaction in this episode. They are such a great on-screen duo. I personally was not into Eli helping Jake and Clare with their problems but hey whatever float your boat. While I was indifferent to Eli being a problem solver I was completely thrown off by Cake in this ep. They love each other? Since when? Haven’t they only been dating for maybe a month in the Degrassi-verse? And then after Eli helps them with their problems they proceed to makeout in the sweat lodge while he patiently waits outside? All of this stretched the limits of reality for me. I was watching old Degrassi eps. from when Clare used to voluntarily wear a uniform and I seriously thought of how much her character has changed over the seasons. I like that she’s evolving with her age and her ideas are changing, but some of Clare’s actions lately feel really out of character. Even though she could be judgemental at times Clare was always compassionate and rational. Her telling a guy she barely knows she loves him after one month of dating, and making out with her new boyfriend while her ex stands a few feet away outside seems pretty far removed from what I’ve come to think of as Clare Edwards character. I’ve been saying this all season but I really hope they work on backpedaling Clare’s boy craziness for next season. (Sidenote: I couldn’t quite read Clare’s expression when Eli said he was bipolar but I was intrigued by it.)

Katie/Drew/Marisol- This plot became more interesting for me in this episode, probably because all three characters were actually doing something. We saw them interacting in multiple scenarios. I like the setup of tension between Marisol and Drew, I enjoy the fact that he’s irked by Marisol and thinks that Katie forgiving her so quickly is kind of bogus. I also found the fact that Katie and Marisol patched up their friendship so quickly kind of believable, when you’re that age its hard to face confrontation especially with a friend. In my interpretation Katie forgives Marisol because she doesn’t want to have to feud with her best-friend. In part 1 Katie mentioned that the two had been best-friends since kindergarten that’s a long time.

  16. Okay, focusing on the Kate/Marisol/Drew plot…

the way bulimia is portrayed sickens me. Being bulimic (in recovery), watching bulimia being treated as a disgusting std-like choice of stupidity rather than a desease deeply disturbs me. When Drew first hears Katie is suffering from bulimia he brushes it off and assumes it’s false and ‘pathetic’. Bulimia is anything but pathetic. It’s something that millions of people suffer from, it’s a serious life-threatening desease. I understand Katie’s uncomfortableness with her secret being exposed–that i understand, but the way the rest of the school responded was entirely unrealistic. Not one person acted worried, or concerned. I think it’s great that a topic so taboo such as eating disorders are having light shed on them, and being made more public, making the audience more aware of the serious problems that are often over looked, but if your going to do it, you need to do it right and respectfully.

    1. Totally agree with you 100%!!!! Bulimia or other EDs are not the victim’s fault and Degrassi seems to portray them like having one is grounds for being a social outcast. It also surprised me that the whole school gossiped about Katie’s ED, instead of jumping in for support. (which is exactly what Katie needs). Simpson should have done something about it, since he’s stepdaughter, Emma, is a recovering anorexic and Degrassi supposedly has a zero tolerance policy for bullying. sigh.

    2. This is EXACTLY how I feel. The way the school acted like it was some hot piece of gossip akin to something like the Sav/Ms. Oh’s illicit relationship unsettles me. What are the Degrassi writers trying to prove here? That people really are that ignorant of how serious and life-threatening eating disorders can be? At least Ms. Oh was intuitive enough to sign Katie up for an appointment with the guidance counselor. Just… everything having to do with Katie’s bulimia upsets me, and I don’t know how all that drama didn’t trigger Katie to purge. It’s so easy to relapse. She must be that strong. No wonder she’s a rigid and controlling person, how can she function otherwise?

      1. The sad part is that people really ARE that ignorant of how life-threatening this and all eating disorders disease can be! A lot of people just write it off as a way of losing weight when in reality not only is it totally damaging a person’s body, it also stems from a need for perfection so there’s a mental factor to it as well.

As much as I wish they had gotten her help instead of treating it like a dirty little secret, the fact is it’s high school. It’s easier to gossip than give a flying turd about getting help for the person with an eating disorder, or someone who threatens to blow up the school, or someone who threatens to commit suicide.

  17. Sidenote: The promo for next week.

I’m going to need to look at it online so that I can pause and rewind it but so far it looks good. Barring any excessive amount of spoilers it seems like it will be a good ending for Now or Never. I know some people are tired of things always going awry at a school dance but at this point it’s just Degrassi tradition and I’ve grown to love it.

    Things I noticed/am excited for:

The Drew and Bianca plot is by far the one I’m most excited to see, especially since it affects almost all of the other characters. I’m not so interested in Katie being worried about having sex with Drew, which I also think will become a non-factor in that in the promo her and Marisol are talking about them having sex after prom and I think Now or Never will end at the dance after this supposed shooting.

I don’t think anyone is going to die, nor do I want anyone to die, but in the final seconds of the promo it looks like Eli is kneeling over someone who appears to be laying on the ground as if they were hurt and Clare is standing in the background looking shocked. This makes me think that Adam may possibly get hurt, in an effort to protect his brother Drew, but really we’ll just have to see.

Also I really hope that Cake does break up by the end of Now or Never though Clare shouting that to Jake could just being a quote pulled out of context, but here’s to hoping!

That’s all I got for now. Again sorry for the long posts!

  18. The A plot was just a mess. I didn’t get ANYTHING from these best friends except that now, I cannot stand Marisol and that Katie is just a mentally weak person. So Marisol has no problem telling the whole school that Katie’s a bulimic but she suddenly feels bad when Katie wants to drop her as a friend? Made no sense at all. Secondly, to drop a topic as controversial and serious as bulimia in a matter of 2 seconds is just mind boggling. Topics like these are supposed to help us understand a character more, but I didn’t get that at all. I was also confused as to why she felt the need to binge on a bunch of cheeses just to NOT puke and cry in the bathroom. FURTHERMORE I don’t know if the Degrassi writer’s were trying to foreshadow a future problem for Drew and Marisol…but it was just so abrupt how he started hating Marisol and didn’t want anything to do with her. Overall, this was a disappointing plot because I was excited for this plot and I felt it was a chance for us to get to know these fresh characters.

Eli’s plot was…well, boring. I’m sorry but anything to do with Cake really doesn’t interest me at all. They have NO chemistry whatsoever and everytime they get physical or imply that they were getting physical with each other, it makes me cringe. Also …how long have these guys been dating? Why are they already dropping the L bomb?

I love Savoh :$. They’re hot, but the plot was predictable and a little bland. However, I wonder how they’re going to handle this situation since he’s graduating. Does this mean Raymond Ablack will come back for the second half?

In other words, this was a pretty lame episode. Only memorable part of the 30 minutes was Eli’s line “i’ve dated Clare for 3 months, I know her.” hahaha. Cause 90 days really is a long time…

    1. i want to respond to your reaction to the A plot.. I didn’t totally love it, but I didn’t think it was bogus either.

Marisol and Katie both said things that they regretted at the first public appearance (whatever it was). Marisol was mad and she said bitchy things, but she came to her senses and realized how much she had really hurt her best friend- that’s why she felt bad. She didn’t want to ruin her best friendship over a mistake.

I agree the bulimia wasn’t handled in the most tactful way, but we also have to remember that it was not the focus of this episode, like Emma’s was in her time. It was merely a factor in the deteriorating friendship. If you weren’t listening to Katie explaining her bulimia to Drew, she is no longer regularly bulimic, but she still wants to purge on occasion. She was stressed, she binged on the cheese puffs, and she wanted to purge them. Luckily, she realized what she was doing and stopped herself, which was probably scary and emotional, hence the crying.

I also agree that Drew switched from feeling neutral to Marisol (maybe slightly annoyed) to hatred quickly, but you have to remember this girl was blatantly attacking his girlfriend, who he really liked. Marisol was making Katie’s life hell, and he loves Katie, so he hates Marisol. Make sense?

  20. Meh.

I knew this was going to be an underwhelming plot. Like I’ve been saying already, why should I care about these 2 newbies fighting over Drew?

I wish things were changed around a little. Sav and Miss Oh should have had the A plot, Cake/Eli the B and Marisol/Drew/Katie the C plot. I actually didn’t hate the quadrangle of doom tonight. I kind of like how things played out, but now I need Eli to stop interacting with Cake for a while.

He’s only allowed to share scenes with Adam, Fiona, Imogen and the occasional other students.

I’m glad that Sav/Miss Oh wasn’t tied up tonight and it carries over into next week. I’m curious if Miss Oh will become preggers with Sav Jr come the new school year?

I know TeenNick hypes the shit out of the season finale episodes, but next week looks epic. Please don’t be a letdown like a fake stabbing or some random dayplayer getting shot.

  24. Teennick promo basically spoiled that Adam is indeed the one that Vince shoots.

Of course, he’ll survive and Degrassi will copout with Vince getting killed by either Bianca or the cops.

Then again, Adam’s character has run it’s course. So it would be no big loss and is essentially no better than killing off Chantay or any other minor character.

If you’re going to talk big about killing someone, at least have the balls to make it someone noteworthy. Such as killing off Adam last year..

Maybe I’m just old and jaded, but that just sounded funny to me. How much does he really know about Clare? They may have been going on, but they weren’t all that close. He makes it seem like they’ve been together for years, sticking it out through the good and the bad.

I’m going to continue laughing at the show portraying Jake as a lumberjack. He even mentioned again tonight that he chopped trees. Sorry. No matter how much plaid they dress him in, he’s never going to come off looking like a lumberjack or even a wood carver.

      1. Why do they always have to romanticize teen couples? When I was in HS, you were just “going out.” I can count on one hand how many couples were actually “couples.” I’m convinced it’s just a TV and movie thing because IRL, you can date each other, enjoy their company and like spending time with them (even without sex) without being in love. It’s just a silly word to throw around when you’re 15/16 years old. I find it pretty meaningless until after you graduated college and finished sowing your wild oats.

      2. I share the exact same sentiments ScottyB!

I think Degrassi occasionally suffers from the Dawson’s Creek affect, which is making the lives of teenagers melodramatic in a way that doesn’t always ring true. It worked on a show like Dawson’s Creek but on Degrassi where so much of it tries to portray teenagers as they actually are, it can come off as trying too hard. I have no idea why Cake even feel the need to say I love you, b/c really what purpose does it serve? Also I don’t think teenagers are really that emotionally open. When I was in HS I dated a boy for 8 months and never told him I loved him, towards the end of the relationship I thought I might have but I was only 16 yrs old, it wasn’t going to be the end of the world. I thought Eli also sounded ridiculous when he said he’d been with Clare for 3 months and knew her as if it was such a long time, but I found it more believable since so much was crammed into Eclare. Their was a dead ex-gf, divorce, hoarding, and what we now know a bipolar meltdown. Cake is so inactive, all they do is suck face and make awkward sexual innuendos.

These kind of scenes really make me miss the old years of Degrassi, it just seemed as if they took more time with building relationships and if two characters were having a fling they left it at that and didn’t try to make into an epic romance.

      3. Thank you! I don’t know if that’s what the kids do these days, but when I was in high school, no one was a “real” couple. People dated, but no one was attached at the hip the way this show makes things look! As for Clare, her parents are divorced, her dad cheated on her mom, and her sister moved to Kenya, so I can understand her need to feel loved, but c’mon! I wish the writers would add in some things about Darcy, like a phone conversation or email or whatever into Clare’s plot just so the audience doesn’t think Clare’s relationship with her only sister has been cut off for good. I cannot believe that the writers haven’t even hinted that Clare and Darcy still keep in touch. Even though Shenae is obviously long gone from the show, I think this would further Clare’s development because she and Darcy seemed pretty close. Being the only kids of their parents, it would seem like Clare would keep in close contact with her sister, instead of always worrying about so dumb boy. Eli, Jake, and KC, all seemed like such great, smart caring guys…not! Clare needs to focus on herself and not be so wrapped up in having a boyfirend. She’s going to turn into to one of those girls who thinks life sucks if they don’t have a bf.

      4. I’m in Highschool and I see it a lot… As for the “REAL” Couple thing.

Some are actually a real couple, which are devoted to each other and show affection for one another. Hold hands; and what not.

Yes, this is so true the romance in Highschool is possible. Many others still do that whole “Going out thing” but now days most of the girls in the highschool wants a real relationship, and they don’t want to feel like it will be the end soon enough. As for Guys… Well not all want that, but still I noticed Plenty of Guys in my school acting very romantic. Maybe it’s just my school?

That whole “I LOVE YOU” Saying was probably just said and not meant. So, stop acting as if it’s trying to be like this unrealistic show, because most teens do say they love their significant other and don’t mean it.

Now that’s all said. I hope you all understand. Also, school is changing very rapidly!_!

        Sincerely, Dr. James

  31. Drew forgot the cardinal rule of girl code: Chicks before d**ks!!! Girls have to stick together and I certainly hope Katie and Marisol don’t let some stupid guy (as much as I love Drew) ruin their friendship. Charlotte (Holly J) has the best speaking voice of the cast. The Much Music finale promo with her voice is excellent. I can totally see why Charlotte is majoring in broadcast journalism at Ryerson.

I wish Degrassi would focus more on issues other than relationships. On the show, they make it seem like 99% of teens have bfs or gfs and not having one is weird. Tonight’s episode was a great opportunity for the writers to really stretch Katie’s bulimia into a workable, yet teachable plot without seeming like an after school special. I’m a little upset that they tossed that how plot aside (and a very important part of Katie’s character development) the second Marisol apologized and dropped out of the race.

The Cake plot is really boring and very lame. I mean, Clare supposedly loves Jake after only dating him for about a month and Eli supposedly knows Clare after dating her for 3 months?!! I really hope Cake crumbles on the finale because this plot is so dry. Clare needs a plot that doesn’t involve her and some stupid boy. Eli needs a hobby, i.e. disappearing to Kenya for about ten episodes, then coming back all fresh and new. I’m tired of seeing him whine about Clare and Jake is almost every episode this season.

Sav/Ms Oh… Sav started the rumors and Ms Oh is all like, “call me after graduation” *wink* *wink*, oh okay, gross. This should have been dropped completely.

  34. Agreed. The only plot that carried this episode was Eli’s. I think the writers are pretty good at portraying people with mental illness, as we saw with Craig. I do wish they would have diagnosed Eli with something besides being Bipolar, because we already say that storyline with Craig. However this is indeed one of the best storylines this season. I didn’t necessarily like the sweat lodge scene, because it just seemed to unoriginal and played out, but I loved the fact that Eli wasn’t giving up on finding forgiveness from Jake, which I think emphasized his illness and road to recovery. It also reminded me when Connor did the same to KC and Clare.

The Sav and Ms. Oh plot wasn’t too bad.
However, it does feel like the writers are giving up on the seniors and are rushing the end of their journey on Degrassi. I feel they put Ms. Oh and Sav together because of their love for music, but the chemistry just seemed forced.

Katie and Marisols plot was alright, but I feel it’s something that could have waited until next season because we havnt seen or know enough about either one of them to actually feel any sympathy for them. (Although I did feel bad for Katie when she was about to throw up). I don’t quite understand Katies character. First we saw her as this tough, impassive straight-laced person. But she just seemed so weak and became Marisols doormat for these two episodes. I definitely hope the writers push her bulimia storyline (maybe even make her a perfectionist?)

And finally, I was extremely displeased that Mk didn’t win. Shame on you Degrassi writers. Shame. >:/

  36. Is it just me or does anyone else think that these kids move way too damn fast when it comes to relationships?? You think it was a crime to be single for a while.

Anyways on to the episode….I was very pissed off that Katie forgave Marisol so quickly and easily and then made her VP! I mean did Mar not know that Drew had no interest in her at all!! I was with Drew on that one, how can you let her pass when she did all these terrible things (ok maybe just one thing). Honestly I think it would have been awesome and more fun if Mo had become president, but it was pretty obvious that after they made up Katie was going to win. All in all I give this plot a C-

Sav and Ms. Oh!! Oh no!!! That kissing scene was so awkward and a little nauseating. Like everyone else said it was boring and the chemistry was nowhere to be found. For some reason it feels like all Sav does now is walk around all depressed and sad, it’s like they don’t know what to do with his character anymore, even the actor himself looks like he’s over playing this character….guess it’s great he’s graduating next week. Grade: D-

Eli’s plot was pretty good, finally glad seeing him trying to get and do better. Clare and Jake still annoy the crap out of me. And seriously??? Just because he did not want to see some movie she blows it all out of proportion talking about he won’t be able to handle certain things! Really Clare!!?? I think they should break up and she needs to be single, she can get the boys but she losses them so quickly because she acts like someone’s mother! Oops! I made this about Clare and Jake and it wasn’t even about them! LOL! Anyway Chambers did another good job playing Eli so I think I’ll give his plot a B+

    1. That’s the problem with the show. It’s too relationship-centric.

I was a part of a group of about 20 guys and girls and there weren’t many relationships between us, yet we still had our share of drama and wacky teenage hijinks. It would be great if the writers didn’t make these kids out to be so melodramatic. As Dace so eloquently said above, they suffer from Dawson’s Creek syndrome. They act as if they’re 45 years old and going through mid-life crises.

It’s very possible to write a dramatic and angst filled show geared toward the 12-17 age demographic without making romance the forefront of the major plots. Love triangles are not the majority. This is not The Young and the Canadian.

I think the writers really need to re-examine their priorities and focus on general high school problems and activities. When was the last time anyone had an old fashioned sleepover? That’s classic stuff right there they can reinvent with new secrets and general HS debauchery. How much fun would it be to have a Bianca/Imogen/Fiona/Katie sleepover? (I’m leaving Marisol out of this since I don’t like her LOL) Then on the other side of town, you could do the same with the guys. How random would it be for Eli/Drew/Owen/Adam to spend time together? (I only included Adam since he’s Drew’s brother and we’ve already seen the Torres basement. No need to build a second set.)

Secret parties when the parents were out of town. Lots of pranks. Many kids in high school don’t really kow much about relationships that why they are short.

Yesterday I overheard these 14 year old girls how they love giving oral sex. My brain went o_O. What the heck. When I was 14 I liked boys but I was very modest and playing sports or going shopping. And plus most boys were stupid in High School

All I can say is that last night’s episode and the thought of next week reminds me that while Degrassi will probably always be my most beloved TV series, it has some unforgivable shortcomings and failures.

I really don’t know why some people think Adam’s going to die, haha. First, he’s the first transgender to ever be on Degrassi. So as a symbol for transgender youth, that would send an awful message if he died, haha. Second, Adam’s too new to kill off because they’re still developing him. Basically, Adam’s just too important to get rid of.

The only difference is that he didn’t cross over into social pariah territory– his actions were kept in check. Nevertheless, he goes to the ends of the earth and beyond to get what he wants. Granted, it’s only been two weeks but I don’t view this situation as proof of any grand recovery on his end. It could be conceived as taking that first step. Yet, if he continues to fall back on the same old pattern of schemes and machinations, he’s going to have a hard time making strides. Here’s hoping he starts to understand himself better in the coming weeks! I like that the writers are taking things slow with his character development– just like they have from the very beginning.

  44. I think the main point of the A plot was to 1. develop Katie a little bit more as a character and 2. to give us a reason that Drew and Katie might not work out. Part of me thinks that Drew and Katie will end within the next 4 episodes and that they will both be single after Now or Never. Another part of me thinks Drew might get back with Bianca. And a very small part of me thinks that Katie and Drew might work out. Like I said, a very small part of me. I also think that, maybe it was just me, but that the Adam and Katie thing isn’t over yet. Notice how Dave wore all three candidates pins, but Adam only Katie’s. And also, how smiley (is tht a word?) Adam was whenever Katie was around. I think maybe it was just the acting but perhaps there was more to it. I mean, we never got a promo pic of just Katie and Drew or one of Adam and Katie. Also, in the Steal Your Heart promo, there was nothing about Drew and Katie but there was something about Adam and Katie.

I also want to say how nice it is to finally see people not judging a plot that involves Eli (and by extension, Clare, Jake, and Imogen). So far, anything from Eli’s perspective has really recieved good feedback.

May I just say how intense Much Music’s promo is for next week. They have really stepped it up during Now or Never. I hope it continues later in the season. The Teennick promo wasn’t that good, but, not much to be expected from them. Now, based on the promos, I think that nothing happens to Drew. Adam, on the other hand, gets hurt. However, I don’t think he gets shot. My guess is that, after Vince pulls the gun, people freak and run. Adam probably gets trampled in the process and is injured. There’s a picutre with Eli and Clare and Drew and Katie hovering around someone who is on the floor in a white shirt (the only other person in just a white shirt besides Eli was Adam). Other things, Jake and Clare seem to breakup but I’m sure it was just made to look that way. And it looks like Sav and Ms. Oh get their happy ending. By the way, they have more chemistry than Cake does, which isn’t saying much. I noticed that people are saying there are a lot of underclassmen at prom, but there really isn’t. You have Clare, who was probably invited by Jake, who is a junior. And you have Adam, who probably went with Eli just to keep him company. Katie, Drew, Bianca, Owen are all juniors and junoirs go to prom. And Anya, Fiona, Holly J, Sav are all seniors.
All in all, I’m really looking forward to the next four episodes. They should be really great.

Oh, and I’ve decided that it would be really awesome if the new niner, Tori, went after Adam not knowing his secret. Think about it, she fits into his type, which is dark, curly hair, tanned skin (other than Katie). Plus, it would be a refresher for him to be involved with a girl who doesn’t know his secret even though its out. Plus, seeing him be chased after would be nice to. But then again, thats just me wanting Adam to be happy. It would make a good storyline: Tori’s got her eyes set on an older man. Is it his bad track record with girls keeping him uninterested, or is there something she doesn’t know about him?
