PLOT A SUMMARY: Clare can’t get her mind off Jake and his hottness, but doesn’t want to get serious with him because she’s afraid of getting hurt. She’s also noticing a change in her mom, who is starting to date again. Clare finds comfort in sharing her feelings with Jake, but even more so in making out with him. Clare learns Jake has decided to go to movie night with Katie, and Clare decides she can’t be involved with Jake anymore. She notices that her mom is breaking out of her uptight shell seeing someone, and Clare begins to think that being in a casual relationship with Jake might not be such a bad thing after all.

However, all that comes to a halt when she finds her parents’ divorce papers, and realizes that her dad had cheated on her mom. Clare realizes she doesn’t want to be in a casual relationship, and suggests that she and Jake take a chance and become something more. Later, Clare’s mom and Jake’s dad drop a bombshell…that they’re seeing each other.

Cake is amusing on some levels, but I do not feel them at all…not in a relationship way or in a friends-with-benefits way. There are somewhat endearing moments when she’s pouring out her emotions to Jake about her parents, but even then I feel no connection whatsoever.

I was reading a comment where someone said that Jake was the biggest issue they didn’t like Cake as Jake because he causes her to act as off the wall as she does. Nah, I’m pretty sure Clare is the reason Clare is behaving so erratically. This reminds me so much of how ridiculous Ellie was acting when it came to Craig in season 5. Jake is just there, only contributing in emotionless fashion that he’s been in Clare’s position with her parents. I’m assuming that’s just his personality, but even then trying to make them connect on that level seems forced. Meanwhile, Clare’s trapping him and us in her whirlwind of emotions…it’s dizzying and draining.

I will admit the scene where Clare found the divorce papers was powerful. Forget Eclare or Cake stuff, this scene was a reminder of how much her parents split hurts her to her core. I like that part of it, but I’m bored with how the translation affects her love life.

I’m not sure what to make of Cake now that their parents are dating too. I just hope they can do something to make Cake interesting besides unintentionally funny scenes. By the way, did anyone notice that when Clare said the she and Jake could take a risk, Jake didn’t say anything?

PLOT B SUMMARY: Drew is still adamant about moving away, despite Adam’s objections. There’s a chance Drew’s dad could land a job in Boston. KC suggests that before running off Drew should try something different to take his mind off things…so Drew asks Jess to movie night. At the movie Drew spots a suspicious figure, and thinks it might be one of the gang members. He follows the unknown guy and finds out it’s Julian. Owen is there too, and the two guys begin sparring. Drew’s impressed by their fighting skills and asks to learn some moves. He decides he doesn’t want to move now, because he’s going to learn how to properly defend himself in a fight.

Besides the extremely random meltdown with Dave’s dad, I thought this was a fairly solid plot for Drew. He’s paranoia was believable. We saw how he was afraid Vince and his gang would come after him, and they did. And they said they were coming back for him again.

I laughed through the smokescreen of Drew wanting to move away…as if Degrassi’s gonna randomly ship off two major characters (Adam would leave too by default). I’m intrigued by Drew’s new-found hope that he can learn how to fight and defend himself.

So far Drew’s storyline has kept me interested and I hope it continues to do so, seeing how we know for sure it’s going to go through at least Dead and Gone.

******************

PLOT C SUMMARY: Dave and Alli start talking again, and Alli wants to hang out. But of course there’s no way Dave’s girlfriend Sadie would just let him hang out with another female who’s just his friend, right? Instead of asking Sadie if it’s ok, Dave lies and say he’s gotta work with Adam on their radio show. Dave and Alli hang out at The Dot, and Dave’s feelings for Alli reappear at full force; Dave still likes Sadie, but now he likes Alli more. Dave decides to end it with Sadie during the movie, and she storms out while calling him a lying, cheating pig. After the movie, Dave confesses his feelings for Alli, who reveals she feels the same for him.

What are these mushy feelings inside of me? Am I……happy that Dave and Alli finally got together?

Yes.

I’ve wanted to see them together since the days of Alli choosing Drew over him back in Season 10. Though both characters have gone through extreme ups and downs in my eyes over the last year (going from being awesome, to completely annoying), Dave and Alli’s characters are at a place now where they’re likable again and I enjoy seeing them together. They had more chemistry in one conversation than Cake did in the entire episode.

When it comes to Sadie, there really’s nothing Dave could’ve done that would be considered “right.” Thankfully they didn’t make it that Dave cheated on Sadie, but I don’t like how he waited so long to break things off with Sadie. He should’ve been straightforward about his plans to hang out with Alli to begin with, and he should‘ve broken things off with Sadie the minute he realized his feelings were stronger for Alli. But when it comes to the actual breakup, it was going to suck regardless of how it happened. Even being completely honest with Sadie about his feelings it still meant her feelings were going to be hurt. So I guess this means Sadie’s going to be dealing with her heartbreak by downing a pint of Kenyan ice cream?

Claire has been struggling with her hormones for a while now. Season 8 with the vibrator she found in Simpson’s house…Season 9 with Declan and “Madame Degrassi”, and a little bit in Season 10 when she began to develop feelings for Eli while filming their alternative ending to Romeo and Juliet. It’s funny…she’s just like Darcy. being that Darcy believed in Christianity and abstinence, yet couldn’t seem to control her hormones too (excluding her being raped), like posting her pictures on the web and her hookups and stuff. But with Claire it’s more awkward because she’s more of the good girl type than her sister.

  3. Pretty disapointed about the Cake thing just to awkward. Does Clare even know what casual relations mean. She is too emotional for something like this. Kudos to jake for not pushing Clare. But I think when she saw Eli with Imogen getting cutesey that was the trigger for Clare. Also hearing about mom getting jiggy with a new man did not help either. Yeah Helen got laid. LOL

I loved Drew in this one. Luke did a great job. Gangs are scary they don’t give up. They keep going until the job is done. Which really sucks for Drew because now they know where he goes to school. And anybody can be in the line of fire.

KC should be home with Jenna and his son and talk to Jenna about there relationship. Its almost like a repeat of what KC did to Clare.

Dave and Alli are cute together yes but Dave should not be checking out Alli while he is on a date with his girlfriend. That is very tacky.

  9. I have a feeling I’m going to like this episode. A few weeks ago I saw the episode “Take on Me” from Season 3 where Hazel, Toby, Jimmy, Sean and Ellie were all in saturday detention and it was an amazing episode. I liked how it was all one plot – them in detention but at the same time multiple plots, like the beginning of Sellie (not sure if that’s their ship name). This episode feels like it will be like that also – everyone at Movie Night but then there’s the Drew being paranoid about one of the gang members being there (but I will be disappointed if it’s no scare, just like how in Part 1 the “tell me what you know” to Dave’s dad was just useless dialogue..), Dave/Alli/Sadie love triangle, Clare/Jake/Katie love triangle and (possibly) a bit about Marisol/KC and maybe even Jenna (even though I’m sure Jenna finding out KC is “cheating” happens when he’s at Little Miss Steaks, so the next time we see a plot with him and Marisol, it’s probably the Jenna-finds-out-plot)

Also, I must say, even though it’s early that I’m REALLY excited for next week’s episodes. The Holly J storyline has me excited because I’m sure it’s going to be amazing and then there’s the whole Jenna and KC thing in Lose Yourself.. No idea what the B and C plots are for those 2 episodes, but I guess we will get something in the promo after tonight.. All I gotta say is KC is getting hit with a fucking (excuse my french) guitar and it’s gonna awesome! My question is, I wonder who’s going to call Child Services.. Mama Guthrie? The school? Some other character that witnesses the altercation? Who knows..

  16. Can we keep Liam around? I liked him better in 2 scenes than the last few episodes of Jake. He also has some great comedic timing.

Sadie got the real shaft here. She found out Dave had feelings for Alli, publicly dumps him and then not a moment later, Alli is going out with Dave. Does she not have a problem that he just broke up with his girlfriend? Why would she want to be the other woman, especially after all her previous guy problems?

Cake is still stale as ever. I don’t think I’m ever going to become interested in them. Jake is the biggest issue here. I don’t like how he makes Clare act all erratic around and, dare I say it, out of character?

The Clare/Jake’s dad reveal was so obvious. Still would have preferred to find out Clare’s mom banging Jake instead (or an 18 year old senior.)

  18. This Episode was Great I have to say.

I founded Cake’s plot okay. I was dying with laughter when the parent revealed they are seeing each other. Which I figured that in part one when Clare’s mom was leaving and said the man wants to talk about his son. I Thought it was Jake’s dad at that moment.

As for Drew. His was still boring. I didn’t care about his paranoia. But the acting is what save me from turning.

Dalli. Omg I’m so happy… I thought that was awesome. It seem to me Clare and Alli are both finding new love to get over the past. Alli’s is just a little different for she is wanting Dave because she realized he’s a great guy for her.

Next weeks episode seem very intense… I love the expression Katie, Fiona and Etc. Give when Holly J. collapses to the floor. It was priceless. Even I myself screamed “HOLLY J. NO!?” If she die I’mma be like No! She not going to graduate. I’mma hate it so much! I can’t wait to see how Charlotte Arnolds tackle this plot. Eli and Imogen starts to heat up, can’t wait to see that. And finally Ms. Oh and Sav! Sav been gone forever. Now we can see what Ms. Oh can bring to the table. I hope their plot is good, or by far the best!

  20. I feel once the seniors leave, they should bring Jess, Hannah, Liam, and Sadie full time or at least Sadie. Sadie has somewhat of a following already (even though she only had a few episodes people like her) and she’s a freshman so I can see her going far if they bring her in.

In terms of this episode I enjoyed the Cake plot. They are so awkward because the terms of their situation is so unusual (parents dating, casual relationship). It’s fun to watch them be all awkward and funny XD

Drew’s plot is a good setup for later developments

Bhandurner (Alli & Dave) will always be a pairing I like because it’s been building up since Boiling Point in some ways so their relationship doesn’t feel so random now. So I want to see where they take it. I’m glad Dave broke it off with Sadie so KC can get a taste of what he’s getting from Jenna later this season XD

    2. I’m pretty sure this is the plan? There wasn’t much cast dump from last season to this, and they are trying to get back to earlier season designs for cast, plots, and interactions. Pretty sure a few faces with names we see over the Summer will be added to the opening credits in the fall to replace Sav, Holly J, Anya, Chantay, Riley, and Zane.

Since a lot of fan outcry seen online is they miss the days when characters like Darcy and Ellie went from background to main cast.

I knew the Drew spotting someone wouldn’t be serious and I think it was a great setup for his fighting storyline in Week 5, but I just wish they hadn’t included it in the promo as if Hif it was something severe..

Once again, I didn’t give this episode my undivided attention, so I will rewatch both parts on Sunday, but based on what I’ve seen, this was one of the “weaker” or more “boring” episodes.. Maybe because it was mostly about relationships and the Drew plot was kind of lacking in this episode (although it should be a great setup for future plots)

I’m excited for next week.. Holly J.. Please, do me a favor and don’t die on me.. I swear, I will probably cry if Holly J dies at the end of Now or Never.. And I’m a guy. :)

A few of the plots this week (Dave/Alli/Sadie, Cake) felt like they could be on Disney Channel… It doesn’t have the intensity and feeling of ‘it goes there’ that it used to. Exeptions being the Anya and Drew plots, which I thought were the most interesting. Degrassi needs to step up it’s game a little more. It feels like it’s all relationship drama now.

  36. Aw, Dalli. I’m happy Dave didn’t cheat on Sadie. That wouldn’t have been cool. I’m really starting to like Dave this season. That little scene where Alli and Dave were talking about “that girl” that Dave is into was so cliched, but cute nonetheless.

Clare is annoying me. It’s like she thinks she’s hot shit now. I covered my face with my hands when she kissed that Liam kid and groaned so loud I woke up my cat. And then she was all like, “Yeah, I didn’t enjoy that” (or whatever the hell she said).

And it sucks because I absolutely LOVED Clare last season. She was this sweet, cute, pious girl who, as a Christian, would do anything for someone else She absolutely melted my heart when she was juggling between keeping Eli sane and staying dedicated to him and also helping Fitz and being forgiving and empathetic towards him. And also when Adam had dropped his tampons in the hallway and she quickly covered for him in front of the bullies. I LOVED that Clare. She was always there for Eli and Adam and her sense of humor and sweet charm was precious and endearing.

But now… I don’t know, there’s something about her that’s turning me off. I want to see her grieving her failed relationship with Eli, like looking at a picture of they took together or something. And I want to feel her emotion, I want to ache the way she supposedly is. I don’t want to see her sucking face with anything that has a penis.

Lol @ Glelen. I could see that from a mile away though, every since they winked at each other at dinner. I still can’t believe Helen just totally threw her religious beliefs out the window. But I guess when your husband is unfaithful you’ll do anything. Whatever. I feel like Clare is almost following in her mother’s footsteps, in a way. No, Clare hasn’t had sex, but isn’t this still the same girl who wouldn’t even talk about doing the dirty in a place of worship? Just, ugh.

I’m mad at KC, so I’m not going to bother talking a lot about him. I can’t believe he’s being so reckless with Marisol. It’s like he doesn’t care that he has obligations to his girlfriend and his son. Seriously, be a man, KC.

I liked Drew in part two a lot more than I did in part one. I’m also really liking his mother a lot more. I mean, not all mothers are perfect. But anyway, I’m interested in this wrestling storyline.

Okay, I’ll stop now. This is long. :P

    1. Yeah, the thing is, people are never always the same. Clare (and her mother) is changing and sometimes change involves erratic behavior. Why do I feel like the only person who can see that? I mean, how many of you are exactly the same as you were as a child, a high schooler, or ever a collegiate?? I’m guessing none. Life is a cycle and, as we move through it, we attain knowledge from our choices. If we were the same now as we were in high school what does that say about progression? Nada. Besides, her behavior is simply a matter of perspective– just because YOU wouldn’t do it the same way doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Right and wrong are relative– they exist on different levels for different people because everyone deals with life in a different manner. Expecting another person (who has not lived the same life as you) to adhere to your moral compass is absurd. Why would you want everyone to fall in line with what you do anyway?? Wouldn’t that undermine individuality and quell what makes you unique??

      1. I think you may be exploiting what I’ve said a bit. I am in no way condemning Clare for her actions. I am not some self-righteous prude who is looking down my nose at her for kissing every guy that gives her the time of day, not even close. You’re missing my point there.

My honest opinion is that I’m feeling a lack of connection towards Clare like I once had with her in season ten. Like Kary said, the scene where she finds the divorce papers was a very emotional scene, forget the boy crazy/giggling with Alli/making out on the couch bullshit. THAT’S what I want from her, little intimate moments to show us how much she’s hurting from her parents’ divorce, breakup with Eli, and general skepticism with love. You can’t blame me for not feeling that connection with her when she’s acting completely out of character and pouncing on other boys.

And yes, people DO change. But it’s like the writers don’t even care about making the fans like Clare anymore. They are just injecting Jake into the mix and slapping him together with Clare to make Eli fangirls go bonkers.

  40. OK so tonight’s episode was interesting in parts but not as a whole.

Like Kary already mentioned Degrassi is doing a great job this season of using all of its cast, from leads to supporting to even extras. The school just feels like a moving thing rather than a stale alternate universe where drama happens between two main characters and everyone fades awkwardly into the background.

I LOVE Dave and Alli, it’s a pairing that has been in the works for so long and its nice to see Dave get the girl he really wanted. Plus Melinda and Jahmil have great chemistry so their flirty banter actually works for me.

I really like the Drew “fight club” storyline. Though we only got the initial set-up in this episode I thought it was well done. It seemed like a natural thought progression for his character.

Lastly Cake. I’m so bored by them! I really like Jake’s character, I just want him to have scenes away from Clare. This pairing to me brings out an annoying vibe I used to get from Clare before the haircut and the laser eye surgery. I also feel that the writers continually using her parents divorce as a means for Clare to consider being slightly rebellious/promiscuous just seems forced at this point. I don’t personally think that Clare’s character (and this is no reflection of actress Aislinn Paul’s looks because I think she’s quite pretty) is sexy/seductive enough to really warrant all of this sudden male attention. Eclare made sense because they knew each other through their English class and so on. It seemed natural that they would start to like one another’s personality quirks. But Jake just walked in Clare’s house saw her spazz out on her ex-bf and now he wants a relationship with her? Despite the fact that he doesn’t even “do relationships”? I don’t buy it. I think Jake had more chemistry in that five second scene where we first saw his character. I feel really conflicted about the direction of Clare’s character as a whole but i’m interested to see where she ends up by the end of Now or Never.

  41. Sorry meant to say: I think Jake had more chemistry with Alli in that five second scene where we first saw his character and he says to Clare “Who’s your friend?” I actually believed he thought Alli was hot.

Also Cake parents dating is NO surprise, the show has been teasing all along. What I’m curious about is where the writers take that storyline. In one of the original Teen Nick Now or Never promos Jake and Eli are talking in a hallway and Jake says something like ‘you’re going too far” to Eli, and it seems that its in reference to Clare. Is that Jake talking as Clare’s boyfriend or future step brother?

    1. About the dialogue between Jake and Eli was: You’re crossing the line. ( i think )

      I was thinking two things:

      1. Jake plays the role of Clare’s bf or potential bf and telling Eli to back off because Eli is trying to get back with Clare.

      or

      2. Jake is telling Eli that his play about making Clare is too much insulting to her and telling him that its not right.

I’m hoping its more towards the first reason.

  42. Cake is eh. I agree with Kary about Dalli’s chemistry being more believable than Cake’s. Aislinn’s acting was great though. I think a major reason why everyone’s not getting into Cake is not because of their longing for EClare (acknowledge only if it applies to you), but the fact that Justin doesn’t fit the description of Jake. His acting is not the problem, it’s his character role.

Dave/Sadie: I didn’t really care about them because you didn’t see them much, i feel bad for Sadie but at least Dave was honest about it, he took his own advice he gave to Kc. (Koodo’s)

  47. I loved this episode, especially part 2. I love how Degrassi now has so many events going on and how the characters exist even when the stories aren’t about them. Cake was stale, but it sets up for a good storyline that hopefully focuses less on them and more on the awkwardness of their parents dating too. Drew’s plot was spot on and I loved how many recurring cast members they used in this episode. It gives depth to the show as there are more people in that school to worry about than just the main cast. Dalli’s plot was sort of fun to watch, but I feel bad for Sadie. Hopefully it will allow her character to grow out from this “sweet girl” mode.

    Cake: C
    Drew: A-

  49. I think the big issue with Cake is that so far we don’t know enough about Jake and Clare’s past to really put the ship into context. Clare’s inability to keep it in her pants isn’t out there for the character, compared to Ellie’s antics in S5, given we’ve set up how not prepared for relationships Clare is (its a once a season thing for her).

Cake is definitely a Clare-POV ship, if you look at it objectively from the outside it makes no sense. If you roll all of Clare’s collection of issues up, it does. It isn’t healthy, or good for her, but it makes sense. I kinda wish we had some more background Cake moments through the past few eps to set-up the couple better, things on the same line as Jake and Katie’s talk about being a new student.

    1. You bring up a good point about Cake being from Clare’s POV. It doesn’t look like Jake has any male friends yet, at least from what we can tell. I don’t think I’m ever going to be interested in Cake (I seem to be losing overall interest in Clare, which is sad since she was once a fav), but in order for them to work, I do think we need to see Jake’s POV as well. Since I highly doubt we’ll ever have a Jake voiceover as he writes in his journal, he’s going to need male friend to discuss his romantic thoughts with. If they want him to succeed as a character on his own, apart from Clare, they need to integrate him a wee bit more.

      1. I 100 percent agree with this point! I am so sick of Jake only existing to us as an audience through Clare’s eyes. We have yet to see him have any genuine dialogue with anyone else on the show, aside from the banter with Katie which was still mostly about Clare. Introducing his character this way just makes him stale and one-dimensional. At this point he’s really nothing more than a soundboard for Clare to bounce her feelings off of. What makes Eli and Imogen more interesting as a pairing in contrast is that we have the sense that Imogen has her own motives for wanting Eli so desperately. She’s an obvious nut job but that makes her intriguing and there’s also been more overall build up with those too, like in one of the eps. this week when we saw Eli and Imogen on the bench whispering while Clare was writing the note to leave on Jake’s car. Little things like that help to make it more believable when next week we see Eli and Imogen kiss. Cake had a handful of scenes and all of a sudden Clare is telling Alli she’s falling for Jake 0_O

      2. Dace, this is the problem they have when they introduce a character *solely* as a romantic interest for an already established character. Going back to a discussion from yesterday, the show focuses way too much attention on relationships. Sure, they are a huge part of teenagers lives, but there’s so much more to life than just falling in love. It would be nice if there would be couples who don’t go all schmoopy woopy on each other and are just together for, well, the benefits.

When you introduce someone as a love interest and don’t explore their character, like you said, they only come off as one-dimensional. If this character was only supposed to be short-term (like Charlie for instance), it’s not that big of an issue. But as a main cast member, who will probably be sticking around for another full season and a half (2nd half of S11 and probably S12’s summer season), you have to expand their character beyond the love interest.

Why should I even care about Jake if I have no vested interest in Cake? It’s possible to like a character but not their pairing (I liked Alli, but did not like Alli/Drew) but at the rate they’re going, there’s nothing going on for Jake.

        Like

      3. Yesssssss like you said, we still know nothing about Jake. Even with us knowing about his parental issues, he’s still flat…it’s no doing of his own, he’s just nothing more than a plot device for Clare so far. He’s really no different than Charlie. If he’s going to be a main character, then he has to be developed as an individual character, immediately.

And as far as the relationships thing, this is nothing new…the show has become a relationship-driven monster since Season 3. The generic argument that Degrassi focuses too much on relationships isn’t really enough, it’s more about QUALITY of the relationships that matters…and honestly they’ve been pure crap so far in Season 11.

  52. I like Jake. I think he’s cute, charming and really funny. But I don’t like that he’s paired with Clare. I like Clare season 8, 9, and beginning of season 10, but she’s changed. She really only cares about herself and the show is now always about her. Even the more important plots are always plot b or c, and she always comes first.
And another thing, I know this is a fictional show, but Clare being with all these good looking guys makes no sense. Eli and her made sense, because of the things they had in common and everything. But really? She was with KC, a jock. Fitz, a bully and bad boy, wanted her. and now she’s with Jake, the player. Clare is kinda cute, but she is not the type of girl that would have guys throwing themselves left and right at her. It’s not realistic at all.

    1. Alot of people describe Clare as chubby, which makes me wonder are they making Aislinn wear some sort of padding under her clothes or is the style of clothing their dressing her in for her character that makes her appear larger? Because whenever I see the Degrassi cast doing appearances or tv spots she never looks chubby like she does on the show.

  56. Cake – Everythings here seems forced. The chemisty is forced. The relationship seems forced. Just, everything seems forced. There is nothing there. Clare is an emotional wreck right now. She has just been through a nasty breakup plus her parents are going through a divorce and so the only reason she is latching onto Jake is because her life is broken. One of my biggest problems with this pairing is that it had no buildup. He just showed up and suddenly, that night, they’re kissing. With both KC and Eli, the writers put of lot of set up into the relationship by starting with friendship. This episode’s Cake plot was just…bad. The best part was when Clare found her parents divorce papers and realized just how bad things were. Her not wanting to get hurt is understandable but her random feelings for Jake aren’t. There is nothing in their history to support them together as a couple. I think this situation is like when someone is going through a tough time, they immediately clutch whoever is willing to be there for them. The friends with benefits thing could’ve been interesting except that it is out of character for Clare to do something like that. I kind of wish the writers would have her focus more on dealing with a bad breakup instead of giving her another relationship. Also, here’s to hoping that with their parents hooking up, Jake and Clare will go to being strictly friends and nothing more.

Drew – He has become Degrassi’s leading man this season. His storyline is really well written and executed well. Luke’s acting has improved so much just in the past few episodes. Watching him freak out with paranoia is fantasitc. It seems beliveable and real. I liked this plot because it transitioned him from the gang plot (which I assume will be revisited later) to his fighting plot. It was a good plot. Going from wanting to run, to realizing that he’s running, to freaking out, then getting involved with fighting really showed a real life storyline. There was a lot of raw emotion in this plot inovlving Drew and his mom. The conversations between the two of them were brillant. I like how Drew’s mother softened up after her son was brutally attacked. I’m looking forward to Drew’s fighting plot, however, I just hope it doesn’t get too exaggerated because right now, this plot is very realistic and honest and I would hate to see that get messed up.

Dave – This plot was kind of like a double plot with Dave/Sadie/Alli and Kc/Marisol/Jenna. I liked how it focused mainly on Dave but referred to KC and his similar situation. That was good writing. I am definitely happy that Alli and Dave finally got together because, let’s be honest, it was bound to happen sometime. Dave lying to Sadie was predictable but her calmness at first built up the drama to come. I agree with the fact that Dave and Alli had more chemistry than Cake. The reason I liked this plot so much was because Dave was constantly referring to KC with his situation. It was like, when Sadie yelled at Dave during the movie and the screen flashed to KC, it was really good foreshadowing of things to come with him and Jenna or Marisol and good insight into how other people’s drama affects those not involved.

On another note, the overlaping in this episode was amazing. First off, all the plots were interconnected. So Clare and Alli connected the A and C plots. Adam and Dave connected the B and C plots along with Drew and KC. So, in a way, each plot mixed with another plot. That is really nice to watch because it makes it more real. Plus, having other charcters just there was nice. For instance, the hallway scene with Dave and Alli where they saw KC and Marisol. Honestly, if the Ckae plot wasn’t there or was totally revamped, this could be one of my favorite episode based on how real it is.

Friends with benefits does happen out of thin air almost. Teenagers hormones are always raging alot of dudes and girls are always looking for their next make-out buddy and then right away the girl suddenlt wants more. I’ve seen it happen millions of times. And Ive even seen people in relationships who like just met and in a few second of knowing eachother theyre like hey you wanna be my girlfriend? and then like two days of knowing eachother theyre already saying I love you. Thank God degrassi doesnt go that realistic. But anyways the thing between clare and jake is likely to happen to any two people in high school. It’s not forced its just part of the stupidity that goes along with being a teenager. Rush, rush, rush.

  60. The subplots were definitely better than the main plot this time around. I don’t know why I thought the Cake plot was going to be better than what it was. Probably because I like Jake so much (Wish they didn’t introduce him immediately as a love interest, sigh). They completely lost my interest up until the end when the parents dating dilemma was revealed. It reignited my interest in their plot, but more than that, it made me realize how much I crave Clare story lines that do not involve love interests. I absolutely love watching the ups and downs of Eclare, but the few scenes of Clare with her mom or dealing with her family issues were wonderful. I just really want Clare to be single for awhile so she could really focus on herself. Oh, and Tyler Stentiford as Liam is already wonderful. He was one of the only things I actually liked about Cake’s plot. This kid needs to be a main cast member. “By the way, did anyone notice that when Clare said the she and Jake could take a risk, Jake didn’t say anything?” I noticed that too, do you think that means something?

Bless Drew’s plots so far this season. Love that they’re focusing more on him than who he’s dating (versus what they’re doing with Clare). I’m just thoroughly enjoying all the character development he’s getting so far.

SO happy to see Dalli finally get together. I can’t remember the last time I was this happy to see a couple come together in Degrassi (Most of the recent couples irk me in way or another). It’s just really nice that Alli finally realized what she had in front of her this entire time. In part 1, I was upset at the idea that Dave would continue to sneak with Alli behind Sadie’s back, which would’ve really poisoned the relationship for me. But Dave gained a lot of respect from me for following his own advice and being honest to Sadie about his feelings instead of cheating. There’s no avoiding hurting someone when you’re breaking up with them, but I’m glad Dave manned up and told the truth. Now if only K.C. could do the same…

Speaking of K.C., let me once again applaud the writers for subtly connecting and continuing K.C.’s plot these past two episodes. Just another example at how far the writing’s come this season.

Oh, and Jess and Sadie have ZERO personality. If they’re going to be a part of the main cast of niners in the second half of S11, they better be more engaging to watch than they are now.
