Today’s the day I officially retire the “Degrassi Season 10 News” page. R.I.P. Season 10…and Morty. I’m not deleting it, it’s just going to disappear from the navigation bar up top.
I’ve created a page compiling all of my grades for Season 10 here. The Season 10 Grades page is different from the grade pages for the other 9 seasons. For those I just listed my grade for the main plot. Because there were so many plots in Season 10, I listed my grades for each individual plot in every episode.
Now onto Season 11…..

I just wanted to briefly recap the key information we’ve learned about about Season 11 so far. Stephen Stohn officially cleared up any confusion about the episode production count this morning. When we first heard 1045-1048 were being cut from Season 10, we initially thought they were being pushed back to be the Spring Break Special to kick off Season 11. We’ve now learned that they actually only produced TWO episodes, which will be the one-hour Spring Break Special this summer.
Season 11 begins on Monday, July 18th. They’re doing a summer block of episodes similar to last year’s The Boiling Point. New episodes will air Mondays-Thursdays, with repeats airing on Fridays. This season’s summer block will last 7 weeks (the final episode will air on Thursday, September 1st).
Not all of the episodes are two-parters. Here’s a list of the current episode titles:

NEW CHARACTERS: Degrassi held auditions for 4 new characters, but in the end have only decided to use three of them (looks like Mo was scrapped):

Katie Matlin (played by Chloe Rose)
She works hard and plays hard. A gifted athlete, she’s been training to make the National Under 17 Woman’s Soccer Team. She’s pretty, but fresh-faced, her years of mastering the bicycle kick keeping her from learning how to cake on the make-up. She’s driven and thorough when it comes to academics and extracurriculars; she’s blunt and direct when talking to other girls, even fun-loving BFF Marisol; but when it comes to talking to boys or about matters of the heart, she clams up. The soccer field prepared her for a lot of things, but not love.
Jake Martin (played by Justin Kelly)
A man of few words, Degrassi’s new heartthrob is good with his hands and quick with a grin. He spends most of his free time at the cottage. After his mom died, he and his dad renovated their lake cabin in her honor. All of his shirtless hard work eventually paid off…especially when girls started admiring his boyish good looks and strong physique. Let’s just say he has made out with his share of bikini clad Muskoka girls, but he never let them get in the way of the stuff he truly loves: watching sports, hanging with friends, fishing,mad fresh dancing and camping. He’s a guy’s guy who doesn’t play games and means what he says – all with a good dose of humor and charm. the school’s newest heartthrob who be joining the show next season. Turns out, Jake has a childhood connection to Clare, worst still, it’s a “friendship” that Jake’s meddlesome dad seems very keen on having them rekindle.
Imogen Moreno (played by Cristine Prosperi)
Fun, energetic, with a magnetic look and intense stare–Imogen would hate for anyone to think she’s boring, so she goes to great lengths to stand out from the crowd: bandaging her unwounded wrists, or even posing as a homeless kid to beg for change. She puts on the airs of being an enlightened individual, but it’s a ploy to manipulate those around her. She worries one day someone will discover her secret: she’s a normal kid looking for excitement in her life.

SEASON 11 STORYLINES: There’s a little bit of information about what’s going to happen in Season 11, though I’m guessing they (Epitome) will be reluctant to give out too much based on the recent splurge of spoilers.
*TVAddict, a Canadian tv website, listed some of the storylines in an article, saying “one student of the male persuasion tackle the taboo that is shoplifting, another who is no stranger to trouble finding herself confronted with cocaine, while a third fan favorite is forced to deal with the baggage that comes when two squabbling parents fail to handle their divorce as maturely as one might hope.”
*New character Jake has a past connection to Clare, and they will be involved in some capacity.
*Adam will continue to deal with the issues that come with being transgender (though the situations might not be as emotional as My Body Is A Cage)
*Fiona will have a new love interest.
*The Spring Break Special will heavily feature Drew and Bianca. The special will guest star KeKe Palmer. Below is on-set video footage a guy shot while they were filming the episode. It’s Bianca participating in a freestyle dance competition:

Ah, the smell of a new Degrassi season on the horizon. I love this time of year. Here’s to getting a nice build up of info that teases but doesn’t spoil everything, like that awesome Shark in the Water promo.
Side note: Justin Kelly REALLY does not look the part to me. Maybe in the face, but doesn’t he seem kinda… scrawny? Here’s hoping the casting directors have a vision with him. The other two look sufficient enough for the moment.

I was bummed to hear that too. There are so many issues that Degrassi doesn’t seem to deal with, and one of them has been with obesity. If they haven’t noticed, North America is becoming fatter and fatter everyday (unfortunately) and all these children on the show seem to have perfect figures (-sigh-). Anyhow, let’s hope that they at least think about it for the future.
Not too sure about Clare having yet another potential love interest, hasn’t she had enough for right now?
I guess I’m interested to see how they play out with Fiona’s lesbianism (is that a word?)
I’m really excited for the Spring Break Special, even more so than I was for the Season 10 finale.
Finally, like someone else said, I’d love to see a Music Video promo – that was a really popular idea.

I came up with a prediction. One day I was thinkin, this show needs a bisexual guy storyline, and giving the information we know about Jake and Clare “relationship” I was thinking he could be this guy. Him and Clare have a childhood friendship that his dad is pretty persistent on having them rekindle, and I thought maybe the reason is because his dad doesnt like the guy Jakes currently seeing or likes, or doesnt like him with a guy period so he thinks by rekindling things with Clare he’ll forget about that guy and date Clare. It could make for an interesting little situation…. :)

I like the idea of Jake being bisexual, but the concept that Jake’s family is encouraging him to be with a girl and not a guy sounds too similar to the plot Riley’s supposed to be involved in at the beginning of the season.

Its so crazy that season 10 is now over. Time flies WAY too fast, definitely an improvent of previous seasons. imo, it surpasses season 7, 8, and 9. they messed up some storylines by rushing them or making them too predictible, but you can’t have everything lol.

I’m always a little skeptical when they start adding new characters, even though I know that’s what’s supposed to happen. To me it just doesn’t seem like there is anything special that they are really bringing to the table…but only time will tell. Degrassi also has enough characters already rite now. They can’t even fit every character into a storyline as it is to a somewhat fair amount. I think they should have waited for the senoir class to graduate to add more characters. I also that the actor to play Jake doesn’t look the part, at least in pictures..i guess I just have to see how he acts in order to make a decision on that.

@nina yeah thinking about it they do sound similar. I dont know I just want this story to be explored because I dont know why, but people are really hard on bi guys, mostly because theyre all like “oh you cant have it both ways pick one” or think its just like a cover up or as kurt from glee would say “‘bisexual’ is just a word gay guys use in highschool so they can hold hands with a girl and feel normal about it for a change.” So many people are under the impression that bisexuality doesnt exist and it urkes me. Im not bi im just sayin…

katie and jake, meh. but im extremely pitifuly ridiculously excited about imogen. overdramatic . . . sound like anyone we know? (hint: fiona) unfortunately, imogen’s storyline will probably be about being her true self; i doubt the writers would ALSO make her a lesbian. but i can dream, right?

Pretty excited for the new season. I am thinking a storyline for Adam would be he starts dating someone and doesnt bring up how he is transgender & she falls for him. Then when they have sex she finds out that he’s transgender and hates him for it. But while that episode would be entertaining I do want for Adam to have a good relationship with someone. I wonder what they can do with Eli now that he got into deep or whatever. Eli is another favorite of mine but I dnt think he would be fun to watch now that he isnt feuding with Fitz or acting crazy. Adam is my favorite character (Life with Derek days).lol

First thoughts? LOVE LOVE LOVE the layout. It’s nothing innovative but so much better than all of the previous designs. And BOO on forgoing Adam and other characters for the sake of EClare. Also, it doesn’t make any notation of the season being separated into two releases. But maybe this is just an earlier version and the final will feature that.

I am still annoyed that Eli and Clare are plastered right at the top like they are above every other character on the show. SMH at the DVD distributors. Glad to see Fiona, Holly J and Riley on there though.

I really hate that Fiona’s new love interest is so blatantly going to be a hardcore athlete. Waaaay too obvious and cliche. As to why Annie, Munro, and Cristine seem to have had lots of scenes together (as per tweets), I think that maybe all three of them get put in special “group therapy” sessions at school. It makes sense to me because they all have problems that require some type of monitoring. If I’m wrong about this I will be shocked.
Unrelated, I hate the name Imogen. All I can think of is on The Nanny, the youngest kid (Grace I think?) had an imaginary friend named Imogen. Ugh.

I reckon they should have a regular teenage alcohol storyline. I know they just had the whole ‘Fiona’s an alcoholic’ thing, but i mean, not all teenagers are alcoholics when they drink alcohol. it’d be cool if they had something more regular like peer pressure and alcohol or something. I think the cocaine problem will be Bianca’s and that’ll probably effect Drew badly. I also have a sneaking suspicion that the shoplifter will be Adam and I agree that Justin doesn’t really seem that buff. I mean, I love him, he’s great and I loved him in The Latest Buzz, but he’s always been a scrawny guy, so i dunno. Anson sounds like he might be Bianca’s ex or possibly her rival in the freestyle dance competition or, knowing Degrassi, it could be both. The episode What’s My Age Again? sounds like it will be about Anya and Dr Chris, which, if it is, is so obvious. Clare will most likely be the one dealing with her parents divorce, which i think she’ll react to badly, seeing as last time she started dating Eli and trying to look badass in front of her parents, she might do similarly with Jake, like trying to freak them out by making them think shes going to have sex with him or already has (that’d be pretty cool, especially if Jake’s like not into her). Looking forward to less EClarecentric episodes I gotta say and really looking forward to Fiona having a new love interest (I agree that it could be Katie). Can’t wait till the Spring Break one (does anyone know when it’s on?) and so can’t wait for season 11! Super excited yayayayayayay!!! :D

I wonder if Fiona’s new love interest will even be one of the new main characters because she’ll be graduating halfway through the season. I want her to actually fall for someone who returns her feelings and although, it’s been done a million times in Degrassi, I don’t want it to be short-lived because she’s graduating, it’ll make me sad, haha (Fiona’s become a favorite of mine).
SO bummed Mo seems to have been cut. I was looking forward to his character the most too. This show NEEDS different looking characters because the fact that a lot of the new kids are ridiculously good looking is taking away from the show’s sense of realism. Maybe his character got demoted to a recurring character instead? One can only hope they didn’t get rid of him for good.
Oh, and I’m PRAYING that something good happens in the spring break special to sell me on Drianca because I’m still not buying it.

Hopefully the writers of the show have taken the time out to look at Degrassi related blogs/sites to see what the fans liked and didn’t like (Likes: having new episodes 4 days a week during the summer. Dislikes: character overloads, C-plots in every episode, some that were irrelevent, over hyping the latter half of season-10).
Looking forward to season 11 and Katie looks like an interesting character. Too bad we won’t get to see Mo, he seemed like one of the most relatable characters Degrassi has bought to the table in a while.

I thought that season 10, mostly the second half, was a dark season, similar to season 7 because of the “changes” that happen when they return from the semester break. I think that the second half of Season 11 will be similar to Season 8.

Maybe Adam will start on testosterone. That would be a logical step for the character, and it could lead to a cool storyline where he’s dealing with aggression/mood changes.
It would be interesting to see if they ever have him fully transition. I suppose they could give the actor fake facial hair and body padding, to account for the outward physical changes, and maybe lower her voice with some kind of audio filter?
Just hope they change his wardrobe, regardless. The plaid shirt/cardigan indie look is definitely cute, but it makes him look too much like a tomboy lesbian IMO. They should go back to the vests and baggy sweatshirts he was wearing in the boiling point episodes.

I dont Think Adam schould get his sex change surgery yet because not many teenagers get that done while they’re in highschool, and it would be weird. It could make a refernce to him getting the surgery like after he graduates or somthing, but he schouldnt change until after hes off the show.

He was orginally casted along with Katie, Jake, and Imogen. Mo was supposed to be an overweight senior who becomes friends with Sav. He was also said to have a crush on Alli.

Even though I wasn’t in love in with S10, I’m excited about S11! It seems like it may be good and I loved the Degrassi every evening format (although it kind of killed my social life, lol)
If Mo really has been scraped I’m bummed. But honestly? I’d like Degrassi to get an curvier female character who is beautiful, confident and DOESN’T see her weight as an ‘issue.’
Maybe she’s an athlete and she’s popular–basically she’s a healthy, happy curvy girl.
I mean, there was Terri once upon a time and her face was gorge, but she had a bit of an issue with her weight even though her friends didn’t.
Degrassi does such a great job of creating portraits of characters that feel good in their skin no matter what their circumstance and a curvy girl character should get the same treatment.

No offence, but if that was an actual storyline in Degrassi it would be incredibly boring. A character needs drama to be interesting, and a curvy girl who is popular and sporty and happy in herself sounds like a girl with no drama. I do know what ur saying, but it just wouldn’t work in Degrassi. I really think that Mo would be a good idea though, because he sounds like he could be very interesting (he also sounds like a fair few people I have met in my life). I think that if they put him in, they’ll probably either wait till the graduation of the current year 12’s or put him in as a recurring character in maybe year 11 or 10 and then build him up to a main character after the graduation. The thing that would be smartest to do in his case would be to wait until the current year 12′ graduate and then bring him in as either a year 12 or year 11 and make Drew replace Sav as the school musician and make Mo his musician side-kick or whatever you wanna call it, that way he’s not only in it until Sav graduates and they’ll keep the musician community filled up

It’s just that ALL the other girls on Degrassi are pretty, happy, popular and still somehow manage to be dramatic as hell : )
Think about it-Anya, Holly J, Fiona, Ali, Claire, Bianca–the list goes on. Not ONE of them ever frets about their looks, but each of them has had really interesting storylines (Frankly, they are all a lil batshit in a ‘I can’t wait to tune in every Friday’ sort of way).
I’m all for this imaginary curvy character having some angst, I’m just saying that it’d be interesting if her drama DIDN’T circle around her weight.

true, guess I didn’t really think about it like that. now that i think about it degrassi is quite unrealistic when it comes to regular problems. Like the fact that most girls aren’t happy with at least one part of their body, yet all of them seem to only have problems with their minds or the decisions they make (well, except Adam, but he’s a different story). They also make real teen problems, like binge drinking, cigarette addiction, eating disorders/bad body image and sexuality either way more dramatic then they need to be or don’t show them at all. I can’t remember ever seeing a cigarette storyline on degrassi all the sexuality things end in someone being gay, when a lot of teenagers are just curious (that’d make a great storyline, like someone starts going out with someone they know is gay only to realise that they’re not gay, they were just curious and then break the other persons heart), there hasn’t been an eating disorder on since Emma and the only drinking storyline we’ve had lately is Fiona’s and there are not a lot of instances in which her case is relevant. Most kids drink because there friends do and because it gives them an excuse to let loose and do things they wouldn’t do sober (like hook up with randoms, do other drugs or tell people things they’re too afraid to say), but i don’t think degrassi has ever had a storyline like that and people mind find that really interesting. Plus it can get quite annoying when every instance of drama ends in something bad happening and then a resolution. life isn’t like that, sometimes u do things and it works out, nothing bad happens, and sometimes u do things and they don’t, but they don’t always get fixed at the end of the day, week, month or year, like they do in degrassi. things take more time to fix then they seem to on a half hour show and even then u don’t fully recover and most people never will. but i guess thats why we all love the show, because it is so unrealistic and crazy that it makes our lives not only seem so easy in comparison but it also gives us hope that whatever our problems are, we can fix them, we can change and that it’s ok to be who we are and do the dumb things we do, because then we learn and we change and i’m really sorry for babbling on, i don’t know whats wrong with me tonight. Obviously i needed to be sentimental. anyway, degrassi is a great show, i love it and i probably always will, so i can’t really say anything bad about it :P
P.S. I don’t know if any of the things are relevant to this comment line or even your lives. i’m from Australia and down here thats pretty much how things go, but maybe it’s different where you come from, I dunno, I’m just a cat :P

I find it brain racking, wondering to believe if someone’s going to die. In a Luke Bilyk interview he said someone was going to die, and I’m using that info and the teaser to possibly find out who… I’m hoping not Eli or Fitz. It could and with Bianca being there I suspect it happened to someone she knows..So, possibly Fitz, Drew, Ron-Ron (minor character though), she knows Adam, and many others… So, i’m kind of confused…Anyone have an idea of who (if any)?
