PLOT A: Fitz returns, and causes problems between Clare and Eli.

People give Eclare a lot of crap…it’s mainly directed toward their fans because their belief of Eli being this hot, perfect guy. I don’t like or dislike Eclare (in a shipping manner). I was burned out earlier in the season (around the whole Clare divorce/Eli hoarding stuff), but now I’m back on board with them currently being the most interesting couple on the show.

Fitz’s return boasts very clear pros and cons. The pro is obviously the rift it causes between Eli and Clare. The con is that for whatever reason, it’s hard to believe Fitz’s “I found God” mentality. The primary reason seems to be JEC’s acting…there’s no way I should’ve been laughing when he told Clare he’d found Jesus.

Based solely on the writing I think Fitz has changed, especially after the scene where Fitz was at Clare’s house, but JEC is trying too hard to sell the audience on Fitz’s spiritual change.

Is this the episode, especially Part 2, where people FINALLY start to realize that Eli is mentally unstable? Because Clare sure as hell did. He’s unpredictable, and by dramatic standards, a crazy, unpredictable person is the most entertaining to watch. It’s heartbreaking watching Clare stuck between a rock and a hard place: her feeling obligated to help Fitz conflicts with a need to avoid provoking Eli.

The final scene where Eli talks about the ending of “Stalker Angel” is one of the most disturbing things I’ve seen on Degrassi in a long time…it’s disturbing because he dead serious. Eli is not the “perfect” person his fans have fantasized him to be. His downward spiral mimics so many real-life instances of thinking people are great, until you really get to know them or there‘s a *moment* where they do something that hurts your opinion of them. This Eclare storyline is engaging and well written in the fact that they only make Eli “lose his shit” in spurts, and the thing is we haven’t seen the worst of it yet.

PLOT B: The Bhandari family worries after Alli winds up missing.

The interesting thing I liked about this plot is how it was Sav-centric. Normally it’s the lead character who is dealing with the “major” issue, but we watch from Sav’s perspective as he feels the consequences because of Alli’s actions, past and present.

Kudos to Sav for standing up to Alli and calling her out on her crap. I’ve been back and forth of Sav over the years…for the longest time he was a completely useless character. But love and compassion he showed for Alli, and the guilt he had about yelling at her shows he’s a good guy at heart. It was also good to see that Sav’s dad could actually show some sort of emotion as well. This plot is a solid setup when we switch gears and see things from Alli’s perspective in “Hide and Seek.”

PLOT C: KC and Jenna try to prepare for parenthood.

I could give or take Part 1, but they stepped things up in Part 2. Caleb’s presence allowed for some pretty funny moments (him kicking KC and of course, the special hotdog club). I loved the irony in one of the most underrated aspects of life…people seem to be overly fixated on the idea that by watching people, you’re learning “what to do.” Is it not possible to watching people and learn “what not to do” as well? KC and Jenna learned that they didn’t want to be as ridiculous as that crazy woman.

I honestly don’t care about KC or Jenna on the show…they’re reached the point where with the other storylines floating around, Kenna could disappear for weeks and I wouldn’t notice. But the level of maturity and understanding in this plot makes them inoffensive for now.

  15. *Spoilers- I guess*

So, I’m just going to take the time to vent about this episode. First off, Eli just gave me the creeps with the ending to his story. As soon as he said that I just yelled at my tv “RUN CLARE, RUN!!!” My Lord that was morbid. Plus, I think Munro is a fantastic actor, especially the whole crying scene but whenever I see a guy cry over a girl…I laugh.Probably isn’t an appropriate reaction.

Second, I liked Fitz but some of his lines made me shake my head. When he yelled after Eli “Me and Clare have a special connection.” I just closed my eyes, shook my head, and said “Just leave Fitz.” Like, some of the things he did were creepy and annoying. Sending emails about the lord being his shepherd and shiznickle (made up word) at three in the morning was not romantic! I felt Clare’s reaction of being weirded out. Also how he just *made himself at home* when Clare let him in, irked me. Like when he propped his foot on the table, I was like b**** please. I don’t know this episdoe just made me yell at my television alot.

On the upside, I kind of like where the writers are going with Fitz’s personal storyline but I hope they ease off of the jesus thing a little. He went from a BAMF to ‘Christ-is-my-drug’. IDK…I still like his character though.

Also…I like Alli’s plot. It’s very interesting and I like how it’s developing. Degrassi hasn’t really touched upon missing teens like this before. I especially like it because this plot for Alli doesn’t really involve a cheating or lying boy.

Cocnerning KC and Jenna. Their plot was just there and I kind of found it irrelevant. Though I will admit, it gave me a good laugh when the little boy was screaming and KC stated, “Bubble boy has gone demonic.”

[Question of the hour.]
Oh, but did anyone catch that when Eli yelled I love you to Clare or whatever, their English teacher (who introduced them, essentially) was walking in the background with a smile on her face? That’s gotta be sweet to her.
Good episode! Loved the Ali plot. Kenna was kinda so-so/ boring.

If Fitz does keep popping up, then it will only validate that he might be obsessed with Clare, which I hope doesn’t happen because it may ruin his character for me.I think Eli and Clare may take a break…it is Degrassi after all. Eli attempting suicide doesn’t seem like a farfetched idea to me, I can actually see it happening with his character and the direction their going.

Eli made me roll my eyes in this episode with his “don’t leave me” crap. Calm down, boy. You and Clare aren’t married. His character has slowly deteriorated for me. 27. Not justifying his actions but Eli’s protectiveness is quite understandable..

He’s still dealing with Julia’s death which was very traumatic for him.. His biggest fear is losing people. That’s when the hoarding come in, All the stuff he has that remind him of Julia is a way to make him feel safe and can still feel close to her. Without those things. He’ll feel lost and incomplete. So what if him and Clare break-up? It’s wouldn’t be the end of the world is our eyes but it would be for him since he’ll feel like she’s far away.

It’s gonna be bad for Clare because this would make her become a co-dependent.

The whole Fitz and Jesus thing I’m not buying.. It just don’t seem nor look right.. Maybe this “Jesus” thing is a way to get with Clare which makes it fake… Just my opinion.

    Alli…. I want her back at Degrassi…

I just feel really bad for her since things are starting to blow up in her face.. Still, I think if she comes back to Degrassi and ignore nasty dog Drew, then things would be good. Plus, She needs Clare..

    Jenna and K.C.

I like K.C. again but Jenna gets on my nerves….

I agree with this, so much. Sorta sad how everyone’s laughing at his emotional reactions or writing him off as a creep/freak… I’m not sure if Eli’s damaged and traumatized nature is really resonating or reaching viewers. It’s cliche to say, but I don’t think a lot of people are understanding where he’s coming from. I just sympathize with him so much, he reminds me so much of a few friends I had in high school.

  28. So my thoughts on todays episode:
    1. Holly J’s sickness i bet is from her stressing. She always seems to be dedicating time to something. Homework, work, tests, SAT prep, taking care of Fiona, being with Sav, going though the fact her family is losing money. It just seems that she is always adding something else to do to her already loooooooooooooooooong list.
    2. I like how the writers handled Alli’s story. Only at the end did they show what happened to her, (of course we already knew because of promo pics and stuff) so through out the whole episode, it made it feel like, “Wow did Alli really run away?”
    3. Jenna and KC, eh. Funny but still didnt care too much for them. Im kinda starting to like KC again. (I couldnt stand him after we found out how much of a “bad boy” he is. All he did is whine…)
4.Eli is crazy. Fitz hopefully is not. Clare, youre smart. Ditch Eli and go out with Fitz. Or dump both of them and just go out with Connor. At least he isnt crazy.

And while I love the story line as a whole I will admit that it makes me sad that it is Eli who is the creep. There are no normal people on Degrassi are there? No, because that would make for a boring as TV show now wouldnt it? Oh well… I just hope that they do the storyline justice…make it really good.

And as creepy as the whole ” end of the story, its all about you Clare” thing was I was actually more creeped out by the Eli yelling ” I love Clare Edwards!” it sent chills down my spine because from before this point they hadn’t painted Eli’s character as the kind of “Tom Cruise, scream your feelings to the whole world” kind of guy…. im REALLY interested to see where this goes

  32. Maybe the eclare fangirls just see what they want to see. Because, you know, Eli’s mental instability has always been there. But then again he can be this really sweet and supportive guy, and I think it’s really good that Degrassi balances those too sides because it makes us, the audience, just as confused as Clare. We also at times think “yeah, he could be scary, but it’s worth it, right? RIGHT?” So definitely an A plus for good writing.
If I’m going to see KC and Jenna I would definitely prefer them to be preparing for their baby since I haven’t really seen them do enough of that so far. If not, I hope when the baby doesn’t come they’ll be like “oh shit, this is really, really freaking hard”. To be honest, if I were a parent I’d probably be of the organic crunch variety. The trick wouldn’t be to make sure that kids don’t eat crap food, though. It would be to make it so they would prefer healthy and natural food. What with obesity being a huge problem (and I’m a vegan but I won’t get into that) I would definitely want my kids to like their veggies.
And I laughed at that HJ line where she said something about maybe taking up lesbianism, you know considering what we’ve seen in the promos.

And I’d like to reiterate how much I like the EClare thing once again. I hate it when romantic relationships are comprised mostly on anticipation and no substance. Where there’s a lot of near misses and when they do get together they break up over something stupid five minutes later and go back to pining over each other. With EClare they, you know, communicated their feelings to one another and now that they’re on the decline, I don’t feel like the writers just thought to themselves “we need to break them up right about now. Hmmm… how about we make Eli into a creepy psycho? Sure, why not?” This seems very organic and not out of nowhere.

I felt so bad for the Bhandaris in this one. And this story actually is pulling me in. I loved how they showed it from the perspective of Sav and his family.

Jenna and KC were the comic relief I suppose (though the kid’s yelling annoyed the crap out of me). Season 9 we never really saw much of them as a couple, and we saw nothing from Jenna’s perspective. 36. Ok, this episode was crazy, and I loved it because you never really saw it coming (the Clare and Eli thing). Anyway, I’ve been looking on the Degrassi Wiki and I think I know whats going to happen in the last episodes before season 11.

Next week we have Hide and Seek. In this we find out about Johnny (God I missed him!) and Alli. I reckon that Sav will hack Alli’s email and find out that she has been in contact with Johnny. From this, Sav will go and find him and ask him about Alli. Not completely sure where that will lead, but I think he will become obsessed with Johnny’s involvement in Alli’s disappearance and thus not realise what is going on with Holly J until it’s too late. Holly will probably get a stress related anxiety problem which, in Holly J’s true spirit, she thinks she can handle on her own. This, coupled with the fact that she wouldn’t want to worry Sav when his sister is missing and Fiona still being in rehab, causes her to not tell anyone about the problem. I think, like all degrassi 2 parters, all the really juicy parts, such as Holly J’s admission to hospital and Alli actually coming home and confronting her parents, wont happen till the second part. But, when Alli does come home, i think she will convince her parents to let her go back to Degrassi, seeing as she is in the scene in the promo at the Degrassi Spring Formal.

Chasing Pavements is the only one I’m not completely sure about. I know that Fiona will be released from rehab and go to trial, but the rest I’m not sure about. I’m hopping we might have something about Ziley in this episode, seeing as they don’t seem to be in much at the moment. I also think that this episode will show the start of Eli and Clare’s relationship problems due to Eli’s clingyness.

Drop the World, the 2 final episode, are the ones I have better predictions about. We know that these episodes will take place on the anniversary of Julia’s death, as well as being the date of the Spring Formal. This episode, I think, will definitely end in a cliff hanger, as all Degrassi season finale’s do. I think that the first half of this will involve Eli and Clare’s relationship getting more and more fractured. I also think that this will be the episode where Adam discovers Fiona’s lesbianism. The second half of this episode I think will be mostly EClarecentric. I believe that Clare will want some space from Eli, hoping this might make him a little less attached to her, and a little less crazy. But Eli will not realise that this is what Clare wants and will not really get it until sometime around the middle of the Spring Formal. When he realises this, which I think will be when Clare finally tells him, he’ll run off in his car. I think then he might go and find Fitz and beat him up/rough him up before he drives of and gets himself into a car accident which puts him in a coma. During his coma he’ll somehow find Julia and they’ll talk. I think at the end of the episode he’ll have to make a choice about whether he dies and goes to the afterlife, or goes back to reality and fixes all the things he’s screwed up. I think that’ll be the cliffhanger and we wont find out his decision until season 11, but I’m pretty sure he’ll come back, I don’t think they’ll kill him off.

      3. True. Maybe I should rephrase that. Eli’ll go into a coma and dream that he meets with Julia. The whole choosing whether he should live or die was pretty unrealistic, I agree, but if something like that doesn’t happen, I really don’t know how to explain the picture of Eli and Julia talking

Anyways, the girl who plays Julia is actually a Russian model named Sophia OhLeary, and they paid to use her picture for Julia. He also said she wouldn’t be in any acting scenes.

  37. My opinion:

To be honest! Not just the Eclare, but I loved this episode. It was really well done! Aislinn and Munro’s acting were off the charts, I think. Their plot had me shaking the entire time, and I was still freaking when it ended. Great ending, I want to read Eli’s story really bad now. But I love that they finally said they loved each other. Eli can be a real cutie even when trying to seem creepy and like a badass. And Fitz with the abusive step-brother, I really think they need to bring Fitz back to get a little more history on this. Sounds like a good spinoff story line. But so I would give this plot, A+

Sav’s plot, was great I think. I love Sav’s denile for a while, then when he read her journal all that just fell. And his parents were so good, great actors! This Plot is really good, because stuff like this happens all the time and The writers did a great job I think! Fantastic. But I’m still not fully satisfied since this Plot is still continuing, knowing there is more to come next episode. So it gets a B, for now.

and Kenna…GTFO! Seriously writers? You put these two AMAZING plots together in one episode. Too much for one to handle. So you think, we need a third suttle plot. KENNA GIVING A KID A HOTDOG! Pointless, sorry. Plot gets a D+. (Only because I loved the line “Bubble Boy’s gone Demonic!” XD)

Honestly, I’m kind of on the fence right now with Fitz, mostly because if he put his foot on my coffee table, I would’ve been like, “Bitch, please.” I understand why he did that, he’s searching for a stable home. I thought he was sincere when he said he found God (except he sounded like Mark Wahlberg when he said it), but hey, that’s just me.

And seriously, Eli freaked me out hard core. I think he’s coming this close to hurting Clare. He’s possessive, quick to anger, and that ending? No, thank you. Just leave him now before it’s too late.

I do agree that they do need to start cutting back on Fitz’s Christianity…starting to get a little too extreme. I am glad to see another story about it, since it is a topic that has only been seldomnly touched on. As for the Ali storyline, I think this episode really shown how much Sav has changed, along with his parents. The KC/Jenna storyline I didn’t really care for, though I was laughing with them when the mom walked away and they were making fun of her.

On a side note, does anyone else see a similarity between Eli and Rick? especially after that ending. overall I loved these episodes, definitely didn’t disappoint after waiting the whole season.

I do not think he killed her. And he was pretty stable for so I dont think he’s always had mental issues its just the trauma from julia dying the hoarding and now the thing with claire he’s breaking down. And fitz was right that Eli needed to find God. But it was wrong of him to leap at Claire like that knowing what her and Eli have if he really did change and wanted to help Eli like he was saying in those e-mails then he wouldnt be trying to steal claire away because why would Eli listen to him then? Fitz seems to be like a stalker or something so really, hes no better then Eli they both got their issues and its not fair that claire has to be in the middle of their crap, and i cant blame her for wanting space likes shes going to in future episodes a person can only take so much. But she really should have just left fitz alone, he is knowingly causing drama for her.

  51. I think that the writers have done something brilliant in regards to Clare’s character, following her story arc from the “Fortnight” episode, which also developed her writing abilities. One of the main objections to the Twilight phenomenon is the problematic gender roles that are set up–a stalking, controlling, “protecting” love interest who is also quite literally a predator. So, if Clare is a “Fortnight” fan, despite her having made the girl the vampire in her fanfic, it stands to reason that she would be drawn to a character who is dark and mysterious and who also embodies many of these troubling but “romantic” qualities. And if Eli cuts her throat and drinks her blood so that they “are one”…well, ideal romantic fantasy, right? I think the writers are doing something brilliant in showing how troubling pop cultural romantic templates are often not so ideal when played out in real life.

  53. I thought Eli was fracked up from the beginning couple of episodes, but then they made him too likable and so I thought I was wrong. But now they’ve made him psycho again, and I’m definitely feeling all of Clare’s roller coaster emotions about it. I really believe someone featured in these last two episodes is going to die : either Clare, Fitz or Eli. Most have said Fitz, and it would be an interesting twist if he dies while trying to save Clare from Eli. Degrassi has been good about foreshadowing now, and maybe sometimes it’s not even intentional. But that look Eli gave at the very end of Part 2 scared the living bejeesus out of me, and if that wasn’t a clue that Eli will somehow be involved in the death of a character, than I don’t know what is. I am now scared not only for Clare & Fitz, but for everyone at Degrassi, because I am feeling a looming sense of dread I didn’t even get from Rick. I don’t think he was a psychopath, just had anger issues and was bullied to the point of no return. Eli isn’t bullied, he just has something inescapably evil about him, and I really want to tell everyone at Degrassi to vacate the premises and not return until Season 11 so that nobody dies. But there’s no stopping it now.

    1. I agree with a lot of what you’re saying, but to say Eli is inescapably evil is a tad dramatic don’t you think? No, he wasn’t bullied the way Rick was, but both characters have suffered under extremely traumatic experiences in their lives. Keep in mind we still don’t really know what happened with Julia. There’s a reason for Eli’s mental breakdown, he ain’t a complete psycho in my eyes. I try not to forget Eli’s redeeming qualities in the face of this darker side to him.

Eli’s story is so closely related to thier life right now (Eli trying to protect Clare from Fitz like the Character Malcom tries to protect Rachel from the Stalker Angel)that I am afraied for Clare’s life. I also feel that Eli is mentaly unstable. Even though I feel this way I don’t think that Eli and Clare should break up. Since Eli is mentaly unstable I think it would just make him worse if they broke up. I think Clare needs to tell someone about Eli’s story and get him help.

He was really upset, but at the end of the scene he seemed cheery again. How about the really creepy end scene? He looks upset in the beginning, but by the end he was screaming “I love Clare”. The shouting is a little impulsive, which is a common characteristic of mania.

  65. I think there is more to Juila’s death than what has been revealed(this is degrassi people) I think Eli played a bigger part in her death, and I think it is possible, clare might find out the truth about what really happend to juilia.

And yes, Eli indirectly threaten Clare’s life. I think he was smirking in the end, because he knows exactly what he had done. He wanted to control clare by scaring her.

I am excited to see the love triangle with Eli/Clare/Fitz.

And I feel like the “fangirls” need to be cut some slack. I don’t think they as crazy obsessive as everyone thinks. And I don’t think that the girls just like him because he’s “cute” Because if you think about it, he’s not your typical high school hearthrob, Drew and K.C on the other hand, are the atheletes, and the guys you would typical think are good looking. But During the boiling point, K.C left Jenna pergnant, Drew began his time at degrassi using Ali to make out, and when they finally were together, he was cheating on her. Eli and Clare’s relationship wasn’t driven by lust, they were friends first, and it was very pure and innocent and I think that’s why the “fangirls” fell for Eli. Their relationshio had substance and depth.

Eli has given the show a whole different tone, and so has fitz. The is darker, a bit more sophisticated. I love the direction Degrassi is going for.

I don’t think Clare will die. After Holly J, she is the female lead. Eli and Fitz can’t go anywhere either.

Then when he cried in the car IN FRONT OF HER HOUSE like she wouldn’t notice him there, that’s just pathetic. Not to mention how in part one he got Clare out of the Dot like she can’t make her own decisions and NOW he’s frankly lost all his marbles and plans on killing Clare to be with her forever. So I’m sure he’s the whiny bitch not Chantay.
Chantay is probably the most useful extra in the show. She started the revolution that brought back clubs into Degrassi and that first step in the door that seems to start the removal of the uniforms in time for season 11.

I’m either delirious from a lack of sleep or I really am seeing a justification for Chantay’s whiny behavior over Eli’s… There are legitimate, solid reasons for why Eli acts the way he does just as much as Chantay. He has a fucked up and traumatizing past that accounts for his actions. I do not defend ANY of Eli’s actions, especially since they border abusive, but writing him off as just a whiny bitch is such a cop out. Oh, and to say Chantay is the most useful extra on the show is giving credit where credit is not due. Chantay has been on Degrassi for YEARS and numerous seasons, and I can’t think of one useful thing she has contributed to this show…

  69. Damn, two unstable dudes attracted to the smart, pulled together girl. No matter what either says about the other, they are BOTH wack. It’s not Clare, it’s her energy- she’s pure light and for a couple of guys who revel in darkness, that can be very attractive. Both Eli and Fitz just want to possess Clare. Sure, Fitz may have changed but real love is knowing a person, not fixating on them and thinking they can make everything all better!! Only one person can make things better and that’s the individual. Fitz does’t know squat about Clare. And Eli…boy is creepy as hell! His weird facial expressions, psychotic possessive streak, and split reactions are too much for me.

At this point. I don’t know if Eli would kill Clare. It’s very possible that this is a decoy plot- trying to throw us off. Either way, it’s creepy and that makes for good tv.

Alli’s plot is gold- loved the family’s reactions and Sav kept this section alive.

As a mother, Jenna and KC’s plot made me snort. There ARE mothers out there like that. Hell, I buy all organic but I’m not about to freak out if someone gives my kid a hot dog. These control freak types are hilarious. “My choice”- never mind that the child has NO choice! Sheesh…

    1. Early Season started and ended each part on the same plot (A plot in and out, with B plot right after/before on each side). Here we started the ep with an Eclare scene, ended part 1 with a Bandari scene, started part 2 with a Bandari scene, and ended part 2 on an Eclare scene.
    2. The time alotted to the two stronger plots seemed more even than the obviously undershot B plots early season.
    3. C plot still feel like filling the spaces left to maximize drama for the other plots.

I think the other eps for In Too Deep have been similarly spaced. It feels more fluid and natural, to be honest.

Now, I’m not saying Eli killed her BUT I bet the same thing happened between him and her like its starting to happen between he and Clare…like he was getting to clingy and possessive and Julia couldn’t take it anymore and told him she needed space and he flipped out…maybe he did kill her but by accident because he was soo upset about her? 73. This episode was actually special. It shows how caring Clare really is. She cant help but have a soft spot for Fits because he has supposedly found God. He may have changed but he is still misguided. He is drawn to Clare and her goodness, and that’s the only reason I think he really changed. He lures her in telling her Eli needs help and needs to find God. But then he tries to get in the way, telling her that Eli doesn’t deserve her basically. And he say’s “I’ve changed Clare but Eli will never change!” or something like that but earlier he said he had to help his step brother because if he could change so could he. So in this episode he majorly contradicting himself in attempts to lure Clare. If he really cared for Clare he would befriend her without trying to sway her from Eli. He knows they are in love. Why would some one who just found God want to ruin that. Clare is a good person and she can help Eli. If Fits really wanted to help then sure but thats not his true intentions.

  75. Spring break = me having WAY too much free time on my hands. Anyways here we go:

Watching this episode again, I can’t help but think back to Eli’s “death card” in the Shark in the Water promo. I remember all the crazy predictions about what it could mean. I literally have no idea where his character is going to end up by the season finale, but all I know is Eli has proven that he encompasses the idea of death in more ways than we ever imagined.

Speaking of Eli, nothing felt right with him in any scene; he just… unsettled me the entire episode. There’s no way anyone can make “protective boyfriend” excuses for him at this point for his behavior. I also didn’t feel the Eclare magic like I used to, which saddens me because I haven’t loved a couple this much since Semma. As much as I love Eclare, I truly believe that they need to break up. Their relationship is deteriorating and getting unhealthy, which I find sad because you can tell they’ve genuinely grown to love each other. Nevertheless, I couldn’t help but smile when Clare finally admitted she loves Eli. However, I hate-hate-HATED the way Eli finally said he loves her. It was boastful, showy, and it just felt wrong. I’m just disappointed because it’s not how I wanted or envisioned the “I love you’s” to happen.

Now I hope Eli wouldn’t actually hurt Clare, and that this is just the writers’ way of showing how his possessive and obsessive nature is only going to get worse. Still, I’m not going to completely rule out him actually harming her if things really do get that bad between them.

Despite all of this and regardless of how obviously damaged he is, I still love Eli’s character. There’s just so many different layers to him, and I can’t wait to see the rest of them unravel. Eli also reminds me of Craig, who also showed many different sides, some not always pleasant. Eli’s just so human and real, and I think that’s why I enjoy his character so much; there’s nothing that seems forced or contrived about his character.

Personally, I don’t know if I buy Fitz’s feelings for Clare as genuine… they haven’t spent that much time together apart from Vegas night. I think he’s just latching onto her because she’s the only one that’s shown him sympathy and kindness, and he believes that they can connect through religion.

I’m SO glad that the writers decided to not have Clare develop feelings for Fitz. I think it’s much more consistent with her character for her to just show pity and sympathy. Personally, I’ve never liked Clare, but the fact that she stood her ground with Fitz AND Eli makes me root for her; I hope she comes out of all this okay.

Someone pointed out on the TeenNick boards that Eli said “My lady” to Clare much like Rick did to Terri. I hope that’s not a bad omen… I don’t know if the writers actually intended to mirror Eli and Rick’s controlling behavior, but either way, I think showing the parallel is brilliant.

Honestly, this plot did not disappoint at all; I really found myself holding my breath during all the Eli/Clare/Fitz scenes. I haven’t been his unsettled and engaged by a Degrassi storyline in years. It just totally exceeded my expectations, and I’m glad to see that Degrassi “went there” again.

OH, and is it my imagination, or is the officer in charge of Alli’s case Patsy from Instant Star?! Hahaha.

The real reason he is currently my favorie character on the show is because of how disturbing he can be as he slowly but surely reaches his breaking point. Munro is outstanding. I haven’t seen such a jaw dropping potrayal of a mental breakdown since Craig way back when he was dealing with his bipolar. I do disagree with you about Darcy being amazing when she was dealing with her rape. At first it was interesting but overtime it became cliched and dragged out. I felt like for a while that her only plot on the show was her breakdown. But Munro’s performance really leaves me reeling.
