[WARNING: THIS EPISODE REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS]
PLOT A: FIONA AND ADAM BECOME CLOSER.
I think this plot started off being one of the most cleverly-written storylines from the show. It starts with Adam confronting Fiona about missing his party, then convincing her to be a part of the play. They practice at Fiona’s place, and (with champagne involved) they end up kissing. The next day Fiona says they need to be just friends, and Eli comes to the conclusion that Fiona kissed Adam because she was comfortably drunk.
Adam is fine with Fiona drinking champagne as long as they can just be together. It’s not until Holly J catches them making out that someone informs Adam of Fiona’s drinking problem. The alarm doesn’t go off in Adam’s head until Fiona shows up drunk to a lunch meeting with Eli and Clare. A drunk Fiona drops the bombshell that drinking makes it easier for her to be with Adam, who she knows is transgender.
Fiona then throws out the “I love you,” which came off as she was just saying that to keep Adam around at the time. (not saying they may never truly be in love, I just don’t think she meant it at that moment). Holly J tells Adam that she and Fiona’s mom are planning an intervention for Fiona, so Adam tells Fiona they should go far away.
Of course instead of packing, Fiona gets drunk and passes out on her couch, pushing Adam over the edge, so he takes Fiona to the intervention. Fiona says she never wants to see him again, but we know that’s not true…and Holly J gives Adam an entry from Fiona’s diary saying how much she likes him.
I like how natural this storyline felt, not being overdramatic about Fadam’s romance, or Fiona’s drinking problem. It subtly brings up the truth about the situation, that Adam and Fiona were both using each other. Adam just wanted to be with Fiona, and was willing to overlook her drinking. Meanwhile, Fiona just wanted someone around who wouldn’t judge her or call her out on her alcoholism.
A conversation that sent chills down my spine was when Fiona told the truth about not going to Adam’s party. She said Adam would leave once he realized she wasn’t a perfect princess. I’ve heard that before almost verbatim.
Oh yeah, we also can’t forget the hints they through out about Fiona being a lesbian…first after admitting she knew Adam’s transgender she said she’d rather kiss him than any other guy at school. Then she said drinking makes it easier to be with him. It sounded like she meant that because she knows Adam has female attributes physically, and she’s not come to terms with the fact she’s a lesbian.

PLOT B: ANYA AND DR. CHRIS GO OUT ON A DATE.
Anya and her mom find out her mom if officially cancer free…of course that means never seeing Dr. Chris again, or does it? Anya decides she wants to date him, so she and Holly J crash the place where his “date” is going to be. Anya fails to get Dr. Chris to hang out with them, so another day she tries calling him at the hospital. After hanging up before he answers the phone rings again; it’s Dr. Chris asking her out on a date.
During her date she lies and says she’s 20 ½ , and a college student (Dr. Chris is 25). Of course Holly J and Anya’s mom both say she needs to tell Chris the truth. Anya plans to, but then sees that Chris has planned on inviting her to a weekend to enjoy the Renaissance Festival. Anya’s mom catches her trying to sneak out, and Anya’s forced to tell Chris that she’s 17. In the end, they agree that they’ll wait until Anya’s 18 (two months from now) to try dating again.
This plot was so yawn-worthy for me. I mean it’s great that some good things were finally happening in Anya’s life, but I ask myself one question…do I really care if Anya and Dr. Chris end up together? No, I don’t. There’s no hook there yet that would make their relationship interesting. And Dr. Chris is a nice guy, but he’s bland…trust me, I know.

PLOT C: DAVE FINDS HIMSELF A GIRLFRIEND.
Dave tries to get to his locker, but there’s a couple making out in front of it. He and a girl named Sadie start ranting about the suckiness of this time of year being all romantic, and hit it off immediately.
They have a lot of primary things in common: they both enjoy basketball and hip hop music. The only thing standing in the way is Dave’s self consciousness…Sadie is taller than him. He keeps putting off plans because he doesn’t want to be seen next to her as that short guy.
Dave is a douche, so it’s hard to root for him getting any girl. I love how Wesley and Connor kept giving him crap for being so picky. I thought it was a good plot to point how how ridiculous shallow people can be, even if they like the other person. I thought Alexx Benoit did a good job in her debut, and I’m looking forward to seeing her interact with more than just Dave in the future.

The promo they showed after, i literally almost exploded. Fiona almost kissed Holly J!

I really liked all three storylines. I’d give the overall episode a B+. I especially liked the Dave/Sadie plot… oddly enough. Both the promos teenick showed got me excited as well. :)

1. concerned that the journal entry was meant for holly j
2. concerned that holly j and fiona almost (or do?) kiss (not that i’m against lesbians, or them being ones, but i was really excited for fadam.)
3. concerned that fiona’s gonna be gone (she tells holly j she’s beautiful. probably getting ready for the dance. that’s over 2 months away!)
4. concerned that anya won’t get any more screen time until 2 months of degrassi time have gone by. (could take a while.)

I loved it! I was afraid that they would come up short on the Adam/Fiona storyline, but to my surprise they went in pretty 100% guns blazing! [A+++] I also have to give a shout out to my 2nd favorite Degrassi couple, Eli & Clare {I love them together} [A+ just because]
Dave is one of my least favorite characters, and I was confused by his stupidity of turning down a girl just for being taller than him…then the last 12 minutes happened and he was redeemed. I hope they keep them together for awhile. [C+, at first, then a B+ – thanks to the last 12 minutes]
I found myself falling for Dr. Chris along with Anya LOL. I’m loving a more open Anya this season. And Holly J as her wing woman was adorable. I wish they had spent a little more time dealing with her mom’s cancer, but Dr. Chris’ cuteness overrides any story problems [A-]

This was by far one of my favorite episodes of the season, if not the entire series. I just LOVED the ending when Adam was reading Fiona’s letter,and how the scenes of Anya, Dave, and their lovers were intertwined. It felt so cinematic! Is it wrong that I’m starting to like the new characters better than the old ones and the direction that the writers are taking them? I was completely disappointed with the ending of the boiling point, but now that it has been confirmed that there will be a death, I’m absolutely thrilled that Degrassi is getting it’s shit together and reclaiming it’s thrown as the best teen drama. It’s way better than shows like The Secret Life, Pretty Liars, or w/e else out there.It pisses me off that those crappy shows can get more viewers. They need to put Degrassi on a better network! It’ll probably pull like, 5 million viewers an episode. sigh, but it’s whatever. It will always be my favorite. :)

i think that fiona is only with adam because he is a girl everywhere else but between the ears. she wants to be with a girl (the journal entry, how she treated clare) but already thinks that she is crazy. so she is with a ftm so that it is a win win, in her eyes. I also think that she did not want to press charges on bobby because she felt like she deserved it for how she felt.

Im just gona throw this out there about the promo:
FADAM/HOLLY J: at a first glance it looks like there about to kiss, but after rewatching it, it seems like holly j is like putting a necklace or something on fiona. as to the whole unzipping the dress, it cud just be a camera effect, like fiona was zipping up holly j’s dress but they played the clip backwards.
ZILEY/RILEY’s MOM: riley’s mom obviously won’t accept him but i think zileys love will conquer all and be okay.
ECLARE: (awesome bench slide by Eli) Not sure what to think. maybe eli gets clingy and clare pushes him away. then when she says were not meant to be together i think its more for her to convice herself instead of her convincing eli
DREW/BIANCA: she gets him on drugs, causing porblems with his life in terms of sports and family so he finally gets smart and is done with her.
MY EPISODE OPINIONS:
FADAM: i loved this plot. it kept surprising me. i mean, first, the fact that fiona already knew about adam being ftm. then when she broke his heart by telling him to forget about this kiss. again, when they basically told each other they loved each other. another time when adam refused to believe he was enabling fiona’s drinking and then decided to “save” her from the intervention. but i was glad in the end to see him do the right thing by taking her to the intervention even though she told him she never wanted to see him again. the holly j dynamic was also unexpected. she wat totally cool with adam. i mean, i thought shed be somewhat hesitatnt, but not at all. the letter in the end was sweet. who its about, i rele hope its adam. (p.s. adam in declan’s clothes = funny, eli closer to the begining = funny) MY GRADE: A+
ANYA/DR. CHRIS: it was….okay. i was surprised by holly j’s supportivness. it was nice to see anya as her own person and being a bit dynamic. we all knew she was going to end up spilling the beans so it wasn’t unexpected, however, dr. chris’s response was. so, in honor of the unexpected reaction by dr. chris, i think this plot wasn’t so terrible. MY GRADE: B-
DAVE/SADIE: first off, connor and wesley were soooooo funny i was laughing so hard. now, as to the plot; it seemed to wish-washy for me. i think it was just used as a way to introduce sadie to the show. dave was a jerk (as usual) and sadie seems kind of bland. i hope she doesn’t become another flat character. MY GRADE: C-

Jess is a Recurring ninth grade character who you might’ve seen, but just haven’t notice through out the Boiling Point half. Also Some of the characters Mention her name. The I remember from the top of my head is Bianca.
Jess joined Alli’s Dance Club. Bianca was trying to teach them a routine or something. And I remember Bianca sying something like, “….. And Jess fell like eight times.” Or something like that… Watch the episode; also her first line was to Alli saying.
Alli- “I thought we’re a team?”
Jess- “We are. You’re just now in it.”
Then you may remember more on that episode when Jenna Kissed Sav… K.C. and Drew were playing catch in the hall and they hit Jess in the back. Then the last time you see her is when She was at the lunch table with K.C.; Jenna came over talking about something that points to K.C. and Her are going to have child, thus Jess was a little sad because you could sense she liked K.C.
I think Jess is prettier than Saddie So Honestly, I don’t know what DTNG is talking about and besides; What is there you can’t stand about her? That she doesn’t get enough screen time?
BTW- I think my fan base of Dave has dropped… Sadie wasn’t even tall… Yes he called her a freak. Seriously, I was utterly digusted with her attitude towards that! But good thing they are over it. And maybe Sadie can help change Dave’s arrogant ways.
It was so Hillarious when Wesley said. “She like you.” Then Connor finished saying. “And you like you.” I loved that part.

I was excited about Adam and Fiona pairinig up, but it’s painful obvious that the relationship is gonna be a trainweck..
1. In my opinion, they really have nothing in common.. Adam likes comic books and fiona is so sophisticated and likes shopping.. Eh just me
2. Sorry to say this but Adam being a FTM is part of the problem.. Eli hit the nail on the head when he said she only wants him when she’s drunk. Even though she knew about him being FTM, she still might see him as a girl.. Demo is right.. Her past troubled boyfriends, the way she acts towards Holly J… She might be playing a new team soon
3. Holly J! The way she looked at Adam and Fiona in the hallway was not a look of concern but a look of disgust.. Come on people we all saw that face before! Lol she is jealous in my opinion.
I like Adam and I think he means well but it’s gonna be sad to see him get hurt like that.. He did the right thing by getting Fiona help, even though when she’s sober he will face the reality of her being attracted to girls and not him as him. The letter at the end was bittersweet because the way Adam’s face lit up and the possibility that the letter was not meant for him. I really wanna drop-kick Fiona but then again I can’t blame her for being the way she is because of her past, I hope she sees the good in Adam. Otherwise.. Adam better chuck up those deuces!

I remember Kary saying something about how Eli never learns to back down from a situation (Eli vs fitz thing) and he may be right.. The thing is.. I don’t understand why Degrassi fans/Eli fans would assume he’ll die.. Like if he’s your favorite character, why are you freaking about him dying so much like you want it to happen.. Also, blaming Clare.. Clare said BREAK not BREAK-UP.. huge difference.. If Eli takes it out of context then that’s on his head.. Hopefully he won’t.

These episodes weren’t the best, but they’re strong enough, and given that they’re the now annual love/Valentine’s Day episodes, surprisingly not sappy. I approve.
Fiona/Adam are moving along at a decent pace. Anya/Dr. Chris were unexpectedly my favorite plot of the episodes. It’s sad that Anya’s graduating soon, she’s finally becoming an awesome, sorta-dynamic character. If she had had this plot last season, it would have been all sorts of fail. My guess is that we won’t see much more of Anya and Dr. Chris (Can I call them Dr. Chranya?) for this season, and that Anya will conveniently turn 18 at the end of this season/beginning of next season, and we’ll see their relationship rise and fall in the telenovela half of Season 11. Which is probably best, because as sweet as they were tonight, they’ll probably be boring by the time she graduates.
In regards to the promo for next week’s episode, since we haven’t seen Riley and Zane since The Breaking Point, they’re plot better be the following two things: 1) The A Plot and 2) PRETTY. DAMN. AMAZING.

I called Fiona being into girls when she first appeared, so yay for that. I haven’t watched this show regularly for a long time now, but this might pull me back in (along with more Wesley appearances!).
I don’t like EClare, so I wouldn’t mind a break-up… as long as Clare and Fitz don’t get together. That would be even more horribly cliched than Eli and Clare.

Just saying, I was so impressed with last nights episode! I adore Adam and Fiona together but part of me worrys she isn’t as into him as I’d hope she had been. When she told him she loved him, I felt like she was almost minipulating him for some reason…did anyone else notice that?
Dr. Cris and Anya were an awesome part of this episode. I really hope something nice works out for the two of them. Anyas been through so much crap this past season, she deserves a nice guy.
On a side note, can I please just say how angry I am going to be if and when Holly J and Fiona get together. I feel like that’s gonna be a huge degrassi mistake. Holly J as a lesbian just doesn’t sit right with me, plus what about Sav? Like I can see Fiona going for it, but I am praying a relationship (romantic) doesn’t develop between the two of them. If it does I’ll probably shout obscenities at the TV for the rest of the season haha

The Dave/Sadie plot felt the most realistic and fresh to me. There was no transgender, lesbian alcoholic, underage dating which we seem to be focused on a lot. Instead we got a nice racially mixed relationship, that has it’s main flaw which some people are uncomfortable and find to awkward to deal with. & to anyone who thinks dave is a jerk, you obviously didnt see the part of the episode where we found out that he was self conscious about him self being short not Sadie being tall. He called her names out of frustration. I mean he obviously likes her.. haha. Everybody calls peoples names behind their back, even if they like them. Overall it was a nice episode to come back to after all these months but it wasn’t anything special. It felt like a valentines day special ‘filler’ episode just to start/hold back on relationships.

Yep this I gotta agree with. A nice Valentine’s day and warm up episode for the real drama coming lol.
Also I liked the Dave and Sadie plot the most, it was definitely the most fresh plot (It’s also a bonus when Degrassi doesn’t have to go overboard to make you care) and something a lot of people can relate to. So many girls don’t want to date a short guy and so many guys don’t want to date a girl taller than them. This episode overall really showed that to love someone you need to accept them and their flaws.

in highschool i knew more than 1 transgendered & am related to a lesbian confused highschool alcoholic. everybodys view on “realistic” is different all the other plots were very plausable to me, & the whole interracial relationship part isnt the focus of the problem, if that were they prolly wuda chose more of a jenna model to be daves opposite. degrassi doesnt really seem to think interracial relationships is a problem, nor do i. jimmy&ashley, jimmy & hazel, page & her roomate, danny & leah. it aint that big a deal

I dunno about Fiona questioning her sexuality, and realizing that she is in fact straight. There have been such big hints about her being a lesbian, and lesbian pop culture websites are jumping all over this, excited to see another queer girl on Degrassi (because the gay community in general is so starved for representation on mainstream television)…and then having Fiona realize that being into Adam doesn’t make her gay seems like a really cruel thing to do to LGBTQ viewers. The writers seem to be handling stories much more sensitively now, and I don’t think that they’d lead viewers of such marginalized communities on like that, implying that here’s a character with whom they can identify, and going, “Surprise! She’s not actually a lesbian!”
Eli’s got nice eyes, too. But Fiona immediately gravitated towards Clare and complimented her eyes, and even brought up her desire to go shopping with her later in the episode.

a lot of teens do question their sexuality, experiment, and come up with the result that they were just curious. plus, having fiona realize that being into adam doesn’t make her gay is actually a good thing to get the point across that an ftm is a male, not female. during the lunch, 1. she was toatlly wasted and 2. clares eyes are much brighter than elis and stand out more than his so thats probably why she complimented her eyes

I don’t know. To be honest, you could argue that it’s cruel either way. To make transgenders watching the show think that Adam’s going to be with a girl who likes him for being him and for being male, and then to pull that out from under them by making Fiona a lesbian seems pretty awful too. Fiona liking Adam for his female anatomy is realistic if she is indeed a lesbian, but Adam being the first transgender character and all…you’d think that they’d want to show that just because you date a transguy doesn’t mean you have to be gay. It makes sure that people truly understand that Adam is a boy, because there are still too many people out there who believe that a girl would have to be a lesbian to like Adam, which isn’t true. If Fiona was straight, it would definitely help to dispell those kinds of thoughts.
But it seems kind of cruel either way.

K, I think you hit that dead on! I was so happy for Adam in this episode and i’ll be crushed if they break up. it was so nice seeing a girl fall for him despite the fact that he is transgendered.
If they do decide to end the relationship because Fiona is a lesbian I guess I’d kind of understand that… but placing her with Holly J romantically is just a mistake. that would honestly bother the living crap out of me because Holly J is sooooo not a lesbian.

True, but splitting the two of them up would reinforce the fact that Adam is a heterosexual male, that he is not a butch lesbian, which is something that many viewers may still be confused about. As someone who’s been on both sides of the gender spectrum, I think that Adam would be able to tell quite easily whether he’s with someone who wants him, or a girl.

@Hayley Masters: I agree. I’m fine with Fiona discovering she’s a lesbian through Adam, because it seems a little realistic, and it’s not like Fiona is intentionally trying to mess with Adam. Plus, I can picture them still being really good friends afterwards. I’m just hoping that the scenes with Holly J and Fiona hooking up are really Fiona’s fantasies and TeenNick is just being sensationalistic again.

I’m really hoping that’s the case that TeenNick is leading us on again because they’ve had a tendency to do that in the past (example number one: Clare fantasizing about Declan. TeenNick made it seem like it was actually happening). hopefully that’s the case!

Is it just me, or have there been like A LOT of Fiona/HJ hints? I mean what about Fiona getting so upset about Holly J and Declan breaking up? I mean I understand that she may have just wanted Holly J as her sister in law but maybe it was because she didn’t want to lose her? When everyone was obsessing with the possible Declan/Fiona incest shit maybe she wasn’t jealous of Holly J in DTM but jealous of Declan being with Holly J? Idk if that makes any sense but what I’m trying to say is maybe Fiona is jealous or Holly J being with Declan because she’s had a crush on Holly J since like season nine?

i love dr. chris & anya. but maybe that’s just me. paige & oleander were a snoozefest, but i’m quite excited by dr. chris & anya. i’ve been with people young & much older, so maybe it’s just something i can relate to.
it’s awesome that annie clark likes gossip girl… while watching ‘when love takes over’ and seeing fiona’s headband all i could hear was Blair Waldorf in my head saying “Fiona, the bow always goes on the right.”

Eli and Fiona wouldnt go together at all. lol I like claire and Eli. And he’s not gonna die he signed up for the next season. I think they will break up possibly unless he ends up in the hospital and Claire is terrified that if she leaves him he’ll kill himself. That will turn their relationship into a wreck. I also kinda think that her and Eli are gonna be like a sean and emma relationship where theyre together then it tapers off they go for other people and then back to eachother and then again and then again until it finally ends for good. cuz lets face it when has a degrassi couple ever lasted? they always break up and then find some one else and then break up again and again until finally theyre no longer on the show.

You know who im jumpig to see???????????? Ziley. And why can’t Eclare just stay in a good place for now….how many relationships have this amount of major bumps n this short amount of time. I am actualy really excited for Alli’s storyline, though others might feel differnently.
And girls change in front of each other all the time, so the dress means nothing. and when it looks like their kissing, it looks like hj is putting on fiona’s neclace, so they just used camera effects.

For some reason, I don’t think hj is a lesbian. in the next promo it looks as if she regrets having hooked up w/ fiona (if she even did). she’s was probably tempted by fiona & won over by the heat of the moment, but I doubt she actually likes fiona ”in that way”. just my opinion…

I’d actually like to see Eli single for awhile and not dating anyone. He and Clare are cute together when they’re happy, but both of them have their own issues that need to be worked out before they can be together without one of them ending up in the wacky shack.

I think Fiona’s note at the end was for Holly J. There arent a million reasons for her and Adam not to be together number one. Number two,She doesnt even know Adam that well. No way is She already loving Him THIS much. Buut another part of me is disturbed because it COULD be about Declan. “You just left and i cant stop thinking about you” She sees Holly J and Adam every day at school,Why would she miss them that much? But i dont think degrassi would go that far.

Has anyone stopped to think that the whole Fiona/Holly J kiss might just be a dream of Fiona’s? Or better yet Holly J’s.
Heres my take.
Fiona/Adam
Fiona is a lesbian, but only because she’s attracted to Holly J. Remember, Fiona didnt want Holly J to go anywhere once she broke up with Dylan. My guess is once she really started treating Fiona well and taking care of her is when the attraction started. In the end, Adam will get hurt. He’s only a test dummy and in Fiona’s eyes, he’s Holly J.
Clare/Eli
I’m guessing Eli gets obsessed with Clare based on the whole ex-gf thing. Also, what about the whole Fitz showing up at Clares door? My guess is something big goes down in the last episode and the person getting killed is not who you think…..hey just throwing that out there. Fitz has something to do with this relationship though.
Degrassi is know for having many swerves, so dont just go by whats on the promos. Something big is going to happen at the end.

I think that there will be nothing going on between holly j and Fiona. I think Adam will get confused and it will lead Fiona to start thinking she might be gay, but FADAM is way to good to end so soon! I think if there were to be any lebianess between holly j and Fiona, then it will be on holly j’s part, because throughout the show has mostly been on holly j’s part, like the questioning and critizing. But like I said, I really don’t think that anything would he going on between them. And I also think maybe it could all be in Adams head, like maybe he sees holly j and Fiona together and tarts to think something. And I so in fact think that the kissing scene in the promos between hollyj and Fiona are a dream. Soooooo, I really hope that FADAM stays together! I luff Adam and Fiona!
