The question I receive the most is people asking about how they can audition for Degrassi.  There’s VERY strict criteria just to be eligible to audition, and that doesn’t even guarantee anything. PLEASE read the information below carefully. If you ask me about auditions via e-mail, I’ll just send you to this page, and feel free to send this to everyone in the Degrassi fandom who has questions about auditioning for Degrassi. And if you can and do wind up getting an audition for Degrassi good luck!

What do I need to be eligible to audition for Degrassi?

1) YOU MUST BE A CANADIAN CITIZEN. This is an absolute must…there is no getting around this.  It doesn’t matter if you’re an aspiring actor/actress in Texas, Ohio or anywhere else in the U.S., and being on Degrassi is your lifelong dream. If you don’t have Canadian citizenship you will not be considered.  Degrassi is funded by the Canadian government, and one of the requirements of them continuing to receive funding is that the cast and crew they hire must be Canadian.

2) YOU NEED TO HAVE AN AGENT (BE PART OF AN ACTING AGECNY).  An agent isn’t absolutely necessary for auditioning for Degrassi, but if you’re planning on going into acting as a career, you’re going to need one. Check out http://www.actratoronto.com/ for tips and how to find an agency that fits you.

Do you know when Degrassi is having auditions again? Over the years Degrassi has started having open casting calls for their new characters. Larissa Mair serves as the show’s Casting Director, and you can find out when Degrassi auditions are happening by checking her website.

What is the age range to be an actor on the show? I’m not sure if there is a definitive age range….I’d assume they deal with actors anywhere from ages 13 to the early 20’s. But the main thing is that you need to LOOK like you’re the age of a high school teenager.

What about non-acting jobs/internships?  The same requirements of being Canadian apply for both of these. You need to be attending College or University to be an intern.  A non-acting job on Degrassi is difficult to obtain because they rarely have openings, but they are always accepting resumes for them and for internships for future consideration.  P.S. If you want to be an actor on the show and just mail them your resume, I highly doubt they’ll respond (let an agency do that for you….see above). Resumes can be sent to:

Hi i would like to audition to be an extra, so would my friend Chelsea. But the Problem is we have no idea how to get an agent. But I know for sure we both are be committed. We would really appreciate having to receive an opportunity for the chance to become an extra.

[…] If you’re wanting to audition, those are the characters to choose from for auditioning.  I still get e-mails from people asking how to audition for Degrassi.  The number one piece of information I tell people is that IF YOU ARE NOT A REGISTERED CANADIAN CITIZEN, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO JOIN THE DEGRASSI CAST.  You can be as passionate about acting as you want, but that’s the rules.  I’ve addressed the reasons why in a previous post here. I mean in America, we let Canadians audition for shows in America. It is not right to not let someone audtion just because they are from another country! And i know life isnt fair, but Im just saying it shouldnt matter where you are from.

I do have a plot line
    Season 13
New girl transfers to Degrassi and stirs things up
She wants to be head power squader and wants to be lead in school plays.
That doesn’t suit well for some Degrassi girls.
And new girl has her eye on Campbell the cute ice hound.
    Who is this girl.

Hi my name is makeda tabitha talib. I am 14 years of age and was born in bronx, new york but all my life was raised in florida. Some day I wish of being a writer but I love acting as well, memorizing lines is fun and good for the brain. Everyone on my mother’s side is jamaican but they live in america now, everyone on my fathers side is american as well. I’m now living in kingston, jamaica wanting so bad to become a actress and journalist and when i get older go to emerson college for journalism and performing arts. I love the show degrassi I even use some actors in my books(that has never been published) I’ve written 5 books including 1 more with different stories. I think of myself as a cheesecakeaholic and love any american food their is except seafood of course but really want to try sushi. I dream of travelling the world someday helping people and animals if I can because that is what good people do. I have no experience in acting but I think it is so much fun when you pretend to be another person, call me crazy but i pretend to be another person when people are not around, trust me I’m not mentally ill or anything. When i was 4 I got sick with pneumonia and it caused me not to hear in my left ear but i’s a gift cause I am special. I am learning sign language and it’s great. People learn from their past experiences that how they become better people, I think being normal is over rated being different is a great thing and I hope you know that to. Please give me a chance. Also I have dark brown hair, dark brown eyes and beautiful light choclate skin and the biggest and kindest heart you would love but sadly i’m not canadian but i would love a shot.

Even though I have no experience in acting and I live in the United States, they should be open-minded. and at least try to have someone that is not an Canadian citizen. And what better way to get an amazing high school experience if I am somewhere that I never been before. 19 year old, African American, High School Diploma and an “All my life” Athlete.

Unfortunately he passed away alone in a rooming house not far from where I live. His family did not find out about his passing till 5 years later. He had a alcohol issue and diabetes. He had a broken life as soon as the show stopped filming and cut his character. I met him at a cheque cashing place multiple times. He worked there and looked broken and sad all the time. I recently went to visit his grave and nobody had gone to see him. This was on his death anniversary actually the day after. No flowers nothing was left. I feel so bad for him because he was only 25 when he passed. I actually thought about auditioning for Degrassi I am Canadian. Born and raised. I’m gonna pursue my acting because of Neil Hope aka Derek Wheels. He was so handsome and had a witty character. Of course none of you would know who he is because you are too drawn to the recent episodes. If you watch the older ones they are better than the newer ones. Good luck and as for the Americans trying to come here to be on Degrassi there are so many acting opportunities in the United States why not look there and see. Canadians don’t have that much main stream in entertainment so by taking away out opportunities it’s not fair to is
