The only thing that I knew about this episode before watching was that involved Jenna and ‘Next Teen Star’ (a plot device that I hate), and Alli getting into a fight with Bianca. Boy did it start off slow, but it ended up being a solid way to start off the season.

PLOT A: Alli wants a fresh start, and tries to clear her name.
Alli joins the "I Don't Want To Be Known As A Whore" Club.
As the students of Degrassi return to a newer, stricter school, Alli decides she’s going to start over and adopt the classic “New year, new look, new Paige” philosophy. Decides to give Drew a second chance, and she joins the Science Olympians with Adam, Wesley and Connor. However, her faux past won’t go away when even they question if the rumors about her in the boiler room were true.
The ultimate slap in the face is when Principal Simpson requires her to take a self esteem; a class that happens to only be for girls. Alli’s rival Bianca is also in the seminar. The claws come out as a still-bitter Alli can’t help but take verbal jabs at Bianca, and while the rest of the girls take a break, Alli stays behind. She grabs Bianca’s phone and forwards a sexy photo of Bianca to “EVERYONE.”
Who are all these girls using the boiler room as their sexual palace?!?!
That leads to a fight between Alli and Bianca, and them both getting suspended, but not before Alli’s parents find out the truth about her double life the past couple of years…and we’re talking more than just about her switching clothes at. They learn about her sexting incident with Johnny as well as her skipping school the day she went to get herself tested for STI’s.
In a desperate bid to repair her shattered image and gain her parents’ trust again, Alli decides to leave Degrassi.
Degrassi once again shows it’s figured out how to use continuity by allowing all of Alli’s past incidents spill right into her parents’ lap. It’s also kind of nice that Alli became self-aware; she acts dumb around boys, and finally realizes it. I didn’t see this as her placing the blame of what’s happened completely on Drew, or Johnny or boys in general, because we’ve all seen her moronic ways when it comes to boys…and she’s not the only girl on this show that’s behaved that way.
Those tears = character development
The nagging issue of this story is how it’s developed in a way that so blatantly focuses on pushing Alli in a certain direction. I felt like “piling on” Alli, aka virtually turning her into a school-wide outcast, was unnecessary…the main reason it felt so “in your face” is because excluding Fitz and Eli and (somewhat) Bianca, anyone else whose actions contributed to the rule changes received not even a slap on the wrist. However, the fact they made Alli go to such great lengths to get her life back on track at the end (by leaving Degrassi) shows a level of maturity and development not only in Alli, but also a continued sense of stability in Degrassi’s writing when it comes to the heart of the issue.

PLOT B: Jenna’s worried that her pregnancy will ruin her chances of winning Next Teen Star.

UGH. That was my initial thought on this episode after the first scene…I haven’t been a fan of the Next Teen Star bit because I don’t like the whole “let’s make characters on the show famous” idea that’s floated around since the Kevin Smith days. But in the end I was impressed with how they used it in this episode to move Jenna’s storyline along.
Still competing in Next Teen Star, Jenna finds herself in need of the one thing that EVERY person in reality tv needs to get somewhere: a HOOK. Hers is obviously that she’s pregnant, but she still afraid of what people will think if they find out. That is until she’s in the bottom two of NTS, and reveals her pregnancy on TV to build a fanbase.
....and KC does NOT want to be the father.
And if you’re name’s KC, you’re pissed because she reveals this big news as your sitting at a steakhouse watching the show with your mom. He calls Jenna out for using her pregnancy to get points with fans on NTS; I’m actually ok with her doing that, but what’s not okay is her lack of planning for the baby’s arrival.
One thing that’s continually frustrating about this storyline is how KC is just lingering around with his “I don’t want any part of this” attitude. The entire episode I’m wondering “Why are you even here?” With a solid performance from Jenna this episode continues the positive momentum of this storyline established in Tears Dry On Their Own, Part 2.

SIDE NOTES
*Not seeing Peter in the opening credits kind of made me sad. It was his time to go, though. I read a comment somewhere that said Peter is a bigger character than Chantay. Ummmmmm, no. He was without a shadow of a doubt from Season 5 – Season 9, but when your character is confined to The Dot and Wesley’s uncle has more lines than you, you aren’t bigger than anyone.
*GIGANTIC? I can’t even begin to describe how uninteresting this show is. I watched the series premiere with a girl and we both were thinking “What in the hell is this?” 45 minutes into we both said screw this and started making out…no lie. The show took a bunch of random pieces of drama and threw them against the wall. This premiere gave me absolutely no reason to care about any of these characters.
I’m going to try to watch another episode and pray I can make it all the way through. Why is TeenNick pushing Gigantic so hard? Because THIS show is their baby. Degrassi’s of course the cornerstone of TeenNick, but they want to force people into liking this show because it’s TeenNick’s original idea. Well the way I’m feeling right now I’m not sure what’s worse, pushing a new (but terrible) show or rely on the same old syndicated shows.

I’m sure when the episode focuses on one of the others, we’ll see someone else suffering from the last events. Holly J, Sav, and Drew seem to have skated free (Drew probably due to mom running interference, Sav and Holly J were relatively good that night, Owen escaped the scene).
Eli and Fitz are punished, hence not being around. The issue being that the only public announcement of boiler antics was Alli and Drew.

@Kerrin I didn’t see Adam/Fiona, but they kind of hinted at Drew/Fiona in 99 Problems pt.1 when Riley and Drew were in Economics class, remember? There were the Jess’s and then there was Fiona.
@I well, ppl were talking about Fiona/Adam a while ago because Fiona and Adam are a lot of ppl’s favorite characters, and in I think Try Honesty the description said that Fiona finds a new friend, and then everybody thought it was Adam…I hope that helps!

@Heelsoverhead: The reason everyone likes Fiona/Adam is because they have an official picture together, and also because Annie and Jordy do all of their interviews together. Most of the other interview-pairings are couples (Argiris/Shannon, Charlotte/Ray, Munro/Aislinn, Jess/Sam). So that’s why people think Fadam is happening.

Charlotte’s looking pretty as hell and Annie’s eyes are very seductive.
I’m liking what I’m seeing so far. Alli would’ve whooped Bianca’s ass had Snake not intervened. It seemed like Wesley, Connor, and Adam were kicking Alli off the science team. I recognized Jenna’s rival from another show/movie, but I can’t place it right now (halloween town maybe?) Let’s see, Drew’s a dog and smh at Alli for taking him back. Alli’s parents have a right to be stern but she has to grow up some time…
Clare did her thing as usual. The acting at the end was superb. I’m sure some of yall cried along with them. I’m just as excited as everyone to see what is coming up. The new ‘format’ for previewing future episodes (assuming that it continues like that) is awesome. KC minutely stepped up by handing the baby name book to Jenna. For lack of better words, Kenna is taking “baby steps” to repair their relationship. I like the fact that KC’s mom is being supportive; KC is slowly seeing reality of being a teen parent. OH BUT WAIT, Jenna was snogging (had to)with Sav? A love… RHOMBUS with Declan, Holly J, Sav, and Jenna?! Damn, I wish every Friday there were one hour episodes…
Do I have anything else to add… DAWN! less than 3!!! It sucks that Best Years’ last season was rushed and you weren’t apart of it.

anyone feel bad for holly j? this is the second time in a year’s time that a niner (i dont care if they’re in grade 10 now, they’re still niners [: ) has kissed/crushed on/tried to steal her boyfriend. lol.
and i am FREAKING OUT about fiona and adam/drew. im hoping and betting that she goes for adam. (partly because adam’s just that awesome of course, and partly because drew totally doesnt seem like her type. adam’s so much nicer, as everyone obvioulsy knows.) oh, and people who are saying that annie should be able to tell that adam’s trans? i thought it was implied that the whole school knew now? since mbiac?
and one last thing: looks like clare’s rebelling in ALL aspects. so i guess its pretty much confirmed that she’s rebelling against her parents, not the dress code or anything. (“won’t your parents hate that?” “definitely”) honestly, im kind of disappointed at that. it just seems so textbook, that when the kid’s parents are getting divorced, the kid rebels to keep their attention off each other. being a kid with divorced parents, and knowing a bunch of others, i’ve never actually seen that happen.

I’ll feel bad for Holly J if she actually still likes Sav when Declan comes back, which just might be the case from what I saw in the promos. But if she completely ditches him for Declan and isn’t really interested in Sav and just wants to keep using him, then not really, no.
I want her to go for Adam too. Adam needs a girlfriend. He’s too adorable to be without one. And him and Fiona would be cute.
I’ll be very disappointed if Clare’s entire personality changed just becsue she’s rebelling against her parents. I mean, all teenagers do it in some way, so it’s nice to see Clare acting like a normal kid who makes mistakes, but I don’t want her entire personality altered. It will make me lose respect for her. And yeah, the whole “I’m rebelling agains my parents because they’re getting a divorce” thing is a complete cliche, but there are already tons of those in Degrassi, so I’m not surprised.

Warning: This comment is long as fuck, and it’s also kind of random. Sorry in advance! :P I had a shitload of things to get off my chest after the shock from this episode wore off. XD
I don’t think it was one of my favorites, but it was MUCH better than I thought it would be. I was honestly very proud of the writers; I thought for sure they were going to make Jenna into Mia 2.0 and send the message that it’s okay to put your own desires before anything else. But they treated her exactly as she was – an irresponsible girl so blinded by her dreams that she pushed aside all her responsibilities. I actually thought everything was handled very well in her story – and, yes, the story made me…like Kenna just a bit. Their interactions were very natural, and it warmed my heart that K.C. was coming around just the slightest bit at the end. I liked that he didn’t just suddenly have a complete change of heart and jump back to her side – his actions were hesitant, and barely existent. In fact, it was only in his one line, “don’t choose Kevin” (or whatever it was…I forget exactly) that he hinted that he didn’t want to be like his father. But he still has a ways to go. And I’m really enjoying that.
…And I really hope I don’t get maimed by everyone for that. D: I’m really curious as to where their relationship will go from here. As long as there are no more completely awkward supposedly intimate scenes (you guys know what scenes are talking about) I think I could actually begin to ship them. As long as, of course: 1.) K.C. stops encouraging his friends to cheat on his other, better friends, and 2.) K.C. and Clare actually talk things out (preferably with Jenna there as well), so that there are no more unsaid feelings and everyone has complete closure. But what does everyone think about the promo? My first instinct was that Jenna was returning to her old “boyfriend stealing” ways and going for Holly J’s boyfriend this time. But…It doesn’t seem to fit with how her character is going now. Maybe Sav just showed her some kindness, and in a moment of desperation, she tries to make a move on him? Goddammit, writers, stop trying to convince me of Jenna’s heterosexuality! I will never believe you!! It actually looks like they might be getting really close, since he’s apparently with her when she goes into labor?? XD I can’t help shaking the feeling, though, that he’s only with her to make Holly J jealous. :/ Maybe she chooses Declan and he just races to the first available girl, who, sadly, is a very vulnerable Jenna? *shakes* idek anymore XD
Now, as for Alli’s arc…She kind of frustrated me here. Although I understand why she would be so conflicted and confused, obviously, I kept wanting to scream to her to 1.) NOT take Drew back, and 2.) Just leave Bianca alone. But I must admit, that cat fight kind of made my life hahaha. XD I was glad that, in the end, SHE was the one to make the decision to leave. It makes me think that she’s really going to go through some character development – and the Alli who we see later in the series might be mature enough to have a relationship but not let the guy influence her every action.
I have to admit, though, that I was a bit disappointed in how she threw Drew away like that – true, he cheated on her, and she had every right to ignore him in the beginning. But after she took him back and made him think things were really alright, it seemed cruel to me to just get rid of him like that…Especially in such a cold way. But Drew and Alli have both made a lot of mistakes. Hopefully Alli will mature in her new school, and Drew will mature in his regret – so that when they meet again, it’ll be as true, mature young adults. And they’ll be able to deal with any lingering feelings as such. Maybe then I’d actually be interested in Drew/Alli, which honestly never interested me at all. But we’ll see what happens! I can’t wait to see Alli again, strangely enough, though she often annoyed me in the past. I guess I can’t wait to see more Mature!Alli. :)
Other random notes:
-I thought it was weird to see Adam in the science club. It just doesn’t fit my image of him at all XD I don’t see him as stupid, just uninterested in school and certainly not interested in spending extra time outside of school competing in academic contests…ESPECIALLY for science, which is as nerdy as it gets. :P But I guess Adam likes to read his chemistry textbook while waiting for the next issue of The Goon. Between his new-found love of science and his random admittance into Grade 11 Advanced English, should we assume that he’s also a part of the Gifted Program? lol
-Wesley and Connor kind of made my life when they took out their phones to record the fight. Just sayin’.
-It did kind of break my heart that Connor and Alli barely acted like they knew each other, though. In fact, Connor seemed to have no idea that Alli is so smart. *sigh* My dream of the Connor/K.C./Alli/Clare friendship one day reforming seems completely impossible. :(
-I kind of shipped Alli/Adam in this episode. Am I the only one? XD I know it’s weird, especially since I always write about Adam disliking Alli in my fics. (nothing personal against her! I just thought that she wouldn’t understand what it means to be transgender, and it would annoy him) But I actually thought they were kind of cute in the episode. XD Random, I know. Just…throwing it out there, in case anyone agrees! XD;
Now. More thoughts about the promo:
-It looks like Drew and Adam are going to get into that fight about a girl. Which is all kinds of silly to me, but I guess is very typical of siblings. But they’d better have an epic guys’ night once they make up, or else. XD And Adam had better win – because Adam/Fiona is win. Drew/Fiona? Not so much. :/
-It does look like Clare might really be questioning her religion and waiting until marriage. I really hope Eli turns her down. Clare deserves a chance to question her faith – all people do at some point, after all – but what kind of message is it sending to the fans if EVERY girl on the show has to lose her virginity in high school? No matter what you think of her, you can’t argue that Clare has always highly regarded her morals. It’s natural for her to question them in a crisis – but for her to completely throw them away? That’s just not Clare. At all. Also, am I the only one who thought she was talking to Adam when they first saw the promo? I actually SCREAMED I was so shocked – and then youtube’d it and went, “oh lol it’s just Eli…Oops.” My dreams of a Misfit threesome have been crushed again. :( /kidding. Sorta
-Seeing Adam and Clare standing next to each other in the promo made me really happy. It’s nice to see they’re still friends. Dear writers, you’ve pushed Adam/Eli on us to the extent that it could almost be called canon. And I don’t even have to MENTION Clare/Eli. Just…can Adam/Clare interact more? And can they discuss things BESIDES Eli? Please?

Darn I was wrong about the “I’m leaving Degrassi” part. I swore it was Leia, but I’ll completely own up to the fact that I was wrong. I still say in the promo it sounded like Leia, and if Leia ever has a line like that I called it! LoL But I doubt she will because she’s out of the opening credits now (and the actress who plays her is off in college).

Poor Declan. I really feel sorry for him. The first girl he’s ever actually in love with and she breaks his heart. He’ll probably just go back to being the player he used to be. :( Although, Player!Declan was pretty amusing, so it might not be all bad.
I mean, Sav/ Holly J isn’t as bad a pairing as I thought it would be, but I still like Declan/Holly J better. It’s just that if Holly J ends up dumping Sav and goes back to Declan, which I doubt based off of the promo, then I wouldn’t really feel as sorry for him as I would for Declan. Mostly because his thing with Holly J was just supposed to be a fling, and it doesn’t seem as if he’s in love with her, although I’m sure he has genuine feelings for her. Whereas Declan may be more devastated because I think that he actually might be in love with her.
The Eli/Clare drama looks…interesting. I’m excited for it. I like seeing Clare with a wild side, I just don’t want to see her change her whole personality. That’ll bug me.

Actually, I’m pretty sure that with transgendered people, it’s not a question of WANTING to be the opposite sex/gender. They feel that they ARE the opposite sex/gender and that they were just born in the wrong body.
As the character has said, Adam is already a dude between the ears. He “wants” (the character would probably describe it as a “need”, actually) to legally and medically transition so that his body matches his mind.

OMG! The promo for next weeks episode looks sooooooo SHOCKING! Eli and Clare matching peircings, sleepovers…sounds scandalous?! And Fiona/Adam/Drew….love triangle, love it! i kinda want to see Adam get the girl =) I’ve seen enough of Drew and he’s starting to turn me off because he’s a player. Jenna and Sav? WTF? Did not see this coming! Not gonna last…why would Sav want to start a relationship with a pregnant 15 year old? He’s too good for her. And Holly and Declan, so not gonna last! I used to love Dec, but after the whole trying to buy Holly J’s love, he’s become one of my least favorite characters. No way Holly is gonna take him back! Basically, i’m just wondering if Eli and Clare are going to have sex because lots of promos are showing her upset. So i wonder if they do, and then she regrets it afterwards and has a breakdown? First off, I just wanna say that I think they’re should just be one normal stable new girl so that Adam can actually have a nice girlfriend. Haha. :D
Anyways. In Friday’s episode, I just had a feeling that Alli and Adam were going to eventually get together, but they didn’t, thank goodness.
And Drew going after Fiona? It will make for good episodes, but that’s a very douche-baggish move. He’s saying how much he loves Alli, and then not even a week later is checking out Fiona? Not cool. ;P
Also, Jenna and Sav, and Fiona and Adam, are the most RANDOM couples I think Degrassi will ever have. And I don’t like those couples…
One more thing, I thought that in Friday’s episode we were gonna see some foreshadowing of KC going for Clare again, just because of the fact that he wasn’t supporting Jenna too much, and that Eli was on suspension, but they didn’t. I’m happy and sad about that both because I really like Clare and Eli, but it would have made a good couple of episodes.

That last scene with Alli and Clare was really sad, but I still can’t get over how stupid Alli is sometimes. “I’m just gonna trash Bianca’s reputation…I bet no consequences are gonna happen.” And then she blames it all on boys and takes off…I mean really Alli? Jenna’s storyline left me pretty uninterested and just seemed to reiterate the fact that K.C. is a douche and Jenna was mad. However I did enjoy that she lost which I honestly didn’t expect which obviously screws all of her plans.

So um, where did Peter go? WHO WILL BE SLINGING HASH AT THE DOT?? (Also did anyone else think it was stupid when Holly J took a waitressing job somewhere else?)
I thought Part 1 was really lame and Part 2 was pretty good. But all the action really seemed unevenly piled into the second half. I’m mostly glad of the way they handled Jenna’s storyline (although, I’m sorry if she could never have an A-plot again, that’d be awesome). But I wish too they had shown her getting some negative feedback for being pregnant. Honestly, it’s the internet, there’s no way there weren’t people berating her for being 15 and pregnant. But I love KC’s mom best of all the parents on this show (aside from like, Spike, or Joey), so yay for her being back and being awesome.
Alli’s storyline seemed a little unbelievable in that, if her file is so big, weren’t her parents called in a hell of a lot sooner? Particularly for the sexting incident. And when her dad was all like, “Where did we go wrong?” I wanted to be like, “By repressing your children so hard, jerkface!” My best friend had the same situation, where her mother repressed her so badly then she exploded in high school, and entirely involving boys. That last scene with Alli & Clare was so good, and I’m glad this episode brought their friendship back to the forefront.
I don’t know what this Sav/Jenna business is about, but DO NOT WANT. I like the idea of Drew & Adam vying for Fiona, but I really hope she goes for Adam. I could see her being… flexible, which would be something else they haven’t covered yet.
I’m really conflicted on the Clare situation. On the one hand, it’d be nice to have someone actually stick to their guns about their virginity (although you could make the case that Darcy did, despite the one-off with Peter post-rape), but on the other hand, I personally think that not having sex before marriage is a really bad idea for a lot of reasons and I think Clare is smarter than that, so I do want her to change her mind. Besides, they haven’t had a storyline where someone outgrew their religion, which is a very real thing, so I think that’d be an interesting place to go with Clare.
AND now I’m done.

Why is not having sex before marriage a bad idea? I don’t think it’s a bad choice. And there are ways for someone to outgrow their religion without losing their virginity.
Personally, I’m mostly indifferent on whether or not I think it’s a good idea for Clare to sleep with Eli. I like them together, but I don’t really care as much about that aspect of their relationship. I think she should get to know him better. I like Eli, but I wouldn’t sleep with a guy if I’d only know him for a few months, especially not in high school, where even most “serious” relationships last only a year at best.
If Clare does sleep with Eli, I really hope that they have it so that she doesn’t regret it afterwards and that she doesn’t get some kind of STD or pregnancy from it. It feels like they make teenage sex out to be wrong by having all these kids “pay the consequences” for it, and I don’t think that just becasue you have sex in high school you’re stupid. It’s not wrong.
If Clare doesn’t sleep with Eli, I’d like it to be because of her faith. Not because I necessarily agree with it, but just because it shows strength of character to stick with her beliefs. If Clare’s doing it just because her parents are having marriage issues, then I don’t think that’s too great. Just because her parents go through a divorce, Clare shouldn’t let their hypocrisy dictate her own beliefs. It doesn’t mean I think that her beliefs couldn’t change, but they shouldn’t change because of what her parents are doing. Losing your faith isn’t a bad thing, but it can be when you’re letting it go because of someone else.

The episode was so amazing.I had my eyes glued to the screen for like the whole entire episode.Jenna’s plot was better than i thought it was going to be because i thought it was going to be just another teenaged mother who joins a competition wins then lives hapilly ever after but nah she actually lost and KC and his mother are their to support her.Alli’s plot was amazing at times she made me frustrated like when she took drew back but then at other times like her sentimental moment with clare and when she was explaining to her mother about hre diary she made me want to cry.Because her and clare has been thru a lot and they stuck together no matter what.When i saw the part that she made the decision to leave degrassi i was like go Alli.She is a great character but she has a lot to learn about life and her parents need to let her grow up.

i dont understand how emma and spinner disappear after the degrassi takes manahattan. I thought they would have minor roles since spinner works at the Dot/is like a manager and Emma got the job (assuming she still kept it after the fire incident)….Plus they made a big deal about Emma moving BACK to the town like she was gonna pop up here and there. I wish she would. It would be weird seeing her interract with the high school students, but I could see her as some kind of interest group/mentor leader as a non profit, volunteer type role to help the students at degrassi. Kinda like an unpaid mini teacher or counselor. Of course i dont see her as a real student teach like Marco, since she didnt finish school or showed any interest n going to school for teaching…but she coulda done something.

Those promos were pretty interesting. I’m really excited to see Clare’s rebellious side (although I hope she doesn’t give herself up to Eli/lose her faith because her parents are divorcing). And don’t hate me for saying this, but I hope that Holly J and Declan don’t get back together. I never really liked them together and I actually like her better with Sav (as crazy as that sounds).
And wow, it seems like Degrassi’s going for random pairings this season. First it was Spinner/Emma, and now it’s Sav/Jenna? Really? Am I the only person who DOESN’T want Adam and Fiona to end up together? I probably am.

I like the idea of Adam/Fiona, although it is a bit random. However, I think it has tons more potential than Spinner/Emma, which made no sense, or Sav/Jenna, which makes even less sense. Unlike those two, I could actually see myself taking Adam/Fiona seriously. Don’t ask me why.
I agree with you about Clare. I’m curious though. Why do you prefer Sav/Holly J? Just wondering.

I think out of the random pairings Sav and Jenna make the most sense on paper. I don’t recall them ever having a plot together, but they at least have similar interests unlike the others. As far as Adam and Fiona, I find it a little less believable. But who knows how it will unfold so maybe it will make more sense later on :P

I enjoyed the first two episodes back. They were much better then i thought they were going to be. I was thinking they would be more like fillers somewhat setting up the rest of the season, but I was pleasently suprised. Bianca/Alli catfirght was pretty epic. I liked the whole slight Kenna repairing their relationship little by little, it’s believable and realistic. I mean K.C. isn’t a completly cold hearted bastard. I do agree Adam and science club was slightly bizarre, but in a good sort of way(?) and I noticed the Alli/Adam slight flirtations, maybe it wasn’t really meant, but happened? I think it is slightly weird that Connor was kind of ignor-ish with Alli, I they were all friends at one point. I was annoyed when Alli took Drew back, but I liked that she seemed to realize that she needs to grow up a bit. The end scene between Alli and Clare was sweet and really showcased their friendship. I was think about where Jenna was though. In the Boiling Point her and Alli seemed like good friends, seeing as Alli was supporting Jenna, but here Jenna wasn’t there at all and didn’t say goodbye was strange and slightly disapointing. It would have been nice to see at least a small goodbye between the two before the Alli and Clare scene.
As for the promos the rest of this season looks like it is going to be good. I think it will have a lot of Clare, Holly J./Declan/Sav/Jenna(? could that have been anymore random), and Adam/Fiona/Drew. The love triangle seems interesting because people thought of Adam/Fiona in fanfictions and now it could be possible is pretty awesome. I feel like Fiona is leaning towards Drew based on the promo, but there is always hope. Also that love square/rhombus/whatever kind of scares me a bit. Based on the characters in it, the out come can be super destructive and change a lot of things. Now about Clare, the rebellion thing is cliche but the new rules I could see anyone wanting to go against them, but it seems it is more just a cry for attention. Maybe she figures that if she distracts her parents attention to her that they won’t concentrate on their marrige problems. I’m
I the only would that tampered with the thought of Clare returning to her Season 8 ways? I was thinking about her going back to her uniform loving ways. I thought that would be interesting that CLare thinks maybe if she goes back to the way things were pre-Darcy rape/pre-Darcy leaving everything will go completly back to the way it was. It would be diffrent from the “I want attention” rebellion Clare is seeming to fall into.

they do! it was focusing on Ali and she really let her mind get her. She has this fantasy of the perfect high school year: being popular, having a boyfriend, clean reputation, parents don’t know of her school life, etc. and by trying to protect all she has, she ruins it by starting one fight that wasnt even necessary. Bianca’s a slut and everyone knows it. She had one little rumor and more ppl doubted it (“Ali is it really true?”) anyways.
Its like she tries so hard for things, and cant win with herself. When i first heard the episode name, I honestly though the episode was going to be about Adam because of the obvious…but Im glad the writers didnt do the obvious. They picked the every day normal teenage girl and showed how much of a hazard they are to themselves.
SOOOOOO many girls give in to boys, forgive them when they shouldnt be forgiven, participaite in sexting, hide things from their parents, want to be popular, etc. I can count on my hand so many girls from high school, even me, who have Ali in them. And it can even be the sweet little quiet girl that doesnt get into the main school drama, but they still have their “Ali” ways. Degrassi’s character developments have gotten so much better and I love it.

Good two episodes. These made me like Alli again. Her behavior has finally caught up with her. It’s been a long time coming! If you think about it, they’ve been building up to this for 3 seasons, technically (since season 10 is really 2 seasons worth of episodes). I think that the cover being blown on her double life has been handled better than Manny’s was. The fact that we saw more of Alli’s parents really heightened the tension and drama, whereas when Manny revealed that she was pregnant, she only told her mother, who just seemed more shocked than disappointed and heartbroken. I’m assuming that Manny’s dad never found out about her abortion, as he seems like the type who would have brought it up in the Venus episodes.
Personally, I think that Alli’s a little brighter than Manny. Manny’s intentions were always good, but she was notorious for screwing up. She never really set out to solve her problems, she just went with the flow. Alli took a stand here. She knew what the problem was, and made a responsible, difficult decision to solve it. She really shined here. I went to an all-girl highschool, as well! Not because I was out of control, but just because my mom figured it’d be a more stable environment.
And for me, Alli’s behavior, even when it got on my nerves, always felt genuine. Manny did a 180 so quickly in season 3, and as a result, her out of control behavior felt really tacked-on (though I guess that’s how it is with a lot of girls, huh?) and insincere. Would someone who was so sweet and demure turn into a ballsy sex kitten so quickly? Alli’s behavior was always a little wild, but never reached stereotypical, formulaic, Manny-esque proportions (buys a thong, check…goes to school without any underwear on, check…fallout with best friend over her behavior, check). The writers knew how to keep Alli from turning into a total caricature, and more of a character.
Bringing out Alli’s file was also a smart move on the writers’ parts. The fact that we were being reminded of stuff from as far back as season 8 made Alli’s fall from grace that much more intense. This wasn’t some quick little dalliance with wild behavior. This has been building up for a LONG time, which again, makes Alli’s development seem deeper and more sincere than Manny’s.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Manny. However, I think that Alli’s had richer development, because we’ve seen how her behavior affects not just her, but those around her, and how their reactions in turn affect her. She feels more real to me than Manny.
Also, when Alli said, “Daddy, please don’t be mad at me!” or whatever, I choked up a little…could be my PMS, though.

They stayed pretty calm. They looked really pissed, but they didn’t yell. It was pretty good because those are the parents that really make children feel like dirt…

a lot of indian parents r like that, they don’t yell. The calm, cold shoulder is worse than yelling. the disappointment was just written all over their face, and the words were so great. She was like “please still love me” and the whole “i don’t know my own daughter”. They fact they didnt scream and said so little was so effective in us seeing the emotion. Whoever plays the mom is a great actress, her body language and facial expressions got to me so much. I’m like damn…what If that was MY daughter.
And think about their culture…Alli is “tainted”. shes “dirty”. I wish they’d have her in an arranged marraige too so that would have been brought up. In their culture a pure woman is a BIG deal.

I agree. My grandma gives me the same looks whenever I do something bad. I think America should be a little more like India in that way. Too many girls nowadays do exactly what Alli did. I live in a small town where there’s like only maybe 50 kinds in my high school and I think only 5 out of that are virgins. It’s really sad. I wish more girls had the values that my grandparents taught me. I’m pretty lucky to be one of the few that get’s raised by their grandparents.

Degrassi hits london (Send off for Peter,Chantay,Sav,Anya,Danny,Liberty,Hazel and Alex)
After all the events of season 10,Degrassi hits london will send off Sav,Peter,Chantay and Anya. While partying in london,Sav realises how much he misses Anya (Assuming he is no longer with Jenna/Holly j) and they hook up and have sex. They realise they are truly in love and get engaged. Peter runs into Mia who is now modeling in london. They share a passionate kiss and Peter decides he wants to move to london with her and Izzy. Chantay (FINALLY getting a good plot) runs into Danny who is vacationing in london with sister Liberty and new girlfriend…Hazel who is finally back. Chantay is at first happy to see Hazel but a catfight breaks out when she finds out she is with Danny. They give Danny an ultimatum…Choose between them. After waiting for Danny to choose they realise they are better off without him and decide to become friends again. Meanwhile,Back in canada,Jenna is struggling with her baby but is shocked when KC stops by for a visit. He decides he wants to be in the babies life but Jenna refuses to let him,As he was never there for her when she was pregnant. She ends up letting him see the baby after deciding it was whats right and they get back together and,despite their young age,discuss marriage. Alex finally returns and has finally gotten accepted into banting. There she meets up with Paige,who has returned for one last episode. The two are so happy to see each other they share a kiss and discuss how Paige is doing back at banting and if she is still stressed. Paige tries to act as though the kiss never happend but Alex wants to be with her again. After thinking on it Paige moves in with Alex and become a couple once more. The movie ends with Sav and Anya planning their marriage 4 months after the engagement,Peter and Mia finding out Mia is pregnant with another mans child,Whom she met months ago but Peter decides to help raise it and stay with Mia. Jenna and KC decide they probably should not be together due to all their drama,but want to both be amazing parents to their baby. Chantay and Hazel move back to canada and meet new guys. Liberty announces she is married…To Damien. and Danny going to a concert…Jane’s concert and flirts with her.
Of course this is NOT real. Just a little prediction i though would be fun to make up. Hope you guys though these were good ideas :) Let me know! And be brutally honest if you have to :x

I’m feeling like maybe they only took him off because he’s not really a main character anymore, not because we’ll never see him again. They sometimes do that when a character takes on a recurring status rather than that of a regular. Obviously, Chantay and Leia were exceptions, since they were never really main characters. So maybe we’ll still see him at the Dot sometimes? Or maybe he’ll make a guest appearance later? I mean, someone’s gotta run the Dot. I could be wrong.

Just curious, I know there has been a lot of talk about this for a while because they’ve been filming together and they did a character photo shoot together on the MuchMusic website but what makes everyone think that just because Adam likes Fiona(which we can only assume right now from the new promo)that they are going to be a couple? No, it would not make fiona bisexual because adam is a boy and its not like they would be sexually active. Fiona would like adam for the boy that he is not the girl that he used to be and its not like they would be sexually active and fiona would like the idea of being in contact with adams girl parts. It could possibly make her pansexual, which means that u are sexually attracted to people because of who they are not what they are, but since she hasnt been togeather with a girl im pretty sure she is straight

Well, like you said, people are assuming Adam likes Fiona because the promo intentionally makes it seem that way. But you’re right. Just because Adam ends up liking Fiona doesn’t mean that Fiona is going to like him back and that they’re going to date. But they could. I think people are mostly hoping for it, not saying that they know for sure it’s going to happen.
If what the promos are suggesting is true, and both Drew and Adam like Fiona, and if she ends up wanting to be with one of them, there’s a 50% chance of her ending up with either of them, since we don’t know how she feels about either one of them right now.

fiona/adam would be a straight relationship since adam is a boy.
but we have to take into account that adam has female anatomy, so if they get sexual, it’s safe to say fiona is attracted to female bodies, unless their relationship is purely emotional. adam may be a boy, but i know of more lesbians than straight girls who date transmen. it could go either way, though.
i personally think this works because fiona has never really shown much attraction to (cis) guys. she definitely wasn’t really that into doing things with bobby. maybe she isn’t into male anatomy.

If Fiona put on a hat and said she was a boy and started dating Holly J I wouldn’t consider that a straight relationship because Fiona said she was a boy. That’s just an example. What if Adam started to feel/realize that he likes being a girl and went back to being Gracie then all of a sudden their relationship would be considered gay? @Sarah Yeah, that’s not how it works. It’s not just that Adam says he’s a boy, he really IS a boy.
But alternately, while that makes HIM straight, were Fiona to hook up with him, her sexuality would be more up in the air. But sexuality is such a fluid thing anyway, and there are so many levels of bisexuality to fill in all the bits between ONLY attracted to the opposite gender and ONLY attracted to the same gender, it’s something I’d be really interested to see Degrassi tackle.

So, our bodies are the only thing that define our gender? Let’s say a man has to have his private parts amputated because of cancer… does that make him a woman? Or what about a woman who undergoes a masectomy? Does she become a man? No, and no. Gender is a spectrum, not a male/female binary, and it’s much more complex than what’s in our underwear. A transgendered person is basically a regular man or a regular woman with a severe hormone imbalance and certain physical defects.
And even if you disagree with me, please be aware that the respectful way to refer to a trans person is with the gender they identify as. For someone like Adam, the implication that he is “actually” a lesbian would be very insulting/hurtful. The character identifies as a straight male so that’s how we should think of him, and since he’s a straight guy, his relationship would be straight.

I hate how people think Clare is changing just to please Eli, I think it’s way deeper than that. Her family issues and her parents being way too concerned about themselves to even give a crap about her. I think she’s just been feeling like a wall since all they do is fight in front of her and not even care. That’s what I get from it. Hopefully it is because of her problems at home and not because of Eli. And it makes me giggle because in the promos I have now gotten the feeling that Eli wouldn’t be opposed to having sex with Clare (I think the way she’s acting in the promos Eli at first might find it cute and a turn-on) but later on I think he realizes she’s not in the right state of mind.
And can I say I just love the facial expression Adam makes when he sees Fiona walk in (she looks like a complete doll by the way) I love it! lol Jordan really knows how to make man-like expressions sometimes. I’m excited about this triangle and see how it goes.. However I will not like if Fiona ends up with Drew. Drew does not deserve any girl right now, especially Fiona who has a lot of extra emotional baggage.
And the Anya and Wesley thing, I’m supppppper excited for that. LOLOLOL I think by the end of the date Wesley will pee his pants.
And the premiere episode was good. The Bianca/Alli smackdown was dope. LOL I couldn’t stop laughing…

First I want to say that these where very good opening episodes. Very excited for next weeks episode, seems that it will be packed with exciting scenes.
I know some people are upset that its pretty much looking that Clare would loose her virginity, I know a lot of people look up to her as a role model. (And Believe me, I am a strong believer that teenagers should not be having sex at all, but if you are thats your choice, no one elses)
But aren’t we forgeting what show we are watching? This is Degrassi, umm..it kinda goes there. The Drama of the show is what keeps it going. Clare’s character could only pull of being the good girl for so long, what better drama is there but to have her rebel. And by the looks of the promos, she is doing a good job of it.
Degrassi doesn’t show you what you should do, but what you shouldn’t do. Everytime the character goes through something, they mostly always have a moment of enlightenment or reflection where they realize the errors of their ways.

Im sorry but I am in Highschool I am 17 and a virgin and I know plenty of people who have not had sex. I think to make that kind of statment is ignorant. Degrassi may have had a few characters leave as virgins but I for one think it would be nice to see a person who wants to abstain actually stay true to it. I think it would be nice to see Eli not take advantage of Clare acting out and help her stay true to her beliefs. And if Degrassi “Goes there” they should have a story line where a girl struggles against societys “norms” and completely abstains.
You dont need to have a couple have sex to make their storyline an intersting one.

Yea, not everyone in high school is sexual, I wasn’t and so wheren’t most of my friends. Mind you, after high school things changed, but I still have quite a few friends who aren’t sexually active, including myself. Its a choice. And I agree that they shouldn’t use sex to make a couple interesting. There have been loads of couples in Degrassi who didn’t have sex.
But I think Clare is a special case, the whole basis of her character is the fact the she is the “good girl” the “non-conformist”. She grew up believing everything her parents told her to. And now that the very foundation is crumbling, of course she is going to question everything she has known to be true. She is only 15 and even Clare can’t escape teenage hormones. So she is going to deal with her parents the only way a 15 year old would know how…by doing the exact oposite that they want you to do. She is not doing it because of Eli, she is doing it to piss off her parents. It looks like Eli knows this and by the look of the promos he rejects her offer.
But after Clare decides for herself who she really is and what she truly believes in, maybe she decides that its something she really wants to do. Or maybe her and Eli break up before their relationship gets there.
The writers have always put a focus on Clare’s sainty reputation, so its no surprise that it would be an issue at one point. I personally like the route the writers are going with Clare. The conflicts that Clare has had to face with aren’t surperficial, and I feel that the writers have tried to go deeper then the usual high school issues.
I think it will be very impowering that we see a Clare take the choice and do what she feels is the right thing to do. She may choose to do it, she may not.

Gigantic is their new show. I didn’t watch it, it looked very stupid and uninteresting for me but they are trying to promote it. Degrassi was pretty much all they had until now, if Gigantic even makes it far. Degrassi (TNG and BP has been on for like 10 years) TeenNick’s website was ALL Degrassi for a while. You can’t expect it to be all Degrassi forever. If they wanted their channel to be just all about Degrassi they wouldn’t call it TeenNick they would call it the Degrassi channel lol. But the main reasoning is that Gigantic is new.

Yes I’m well aware my review is way later than I wanted it to be….I was out of town and supposed to be back Saturday, but ended up staying through the entire weekend. It’s kind of hard to do anything when you’re out of town for several days and are nowhere near a computer.
Anyway…if you need to know quickly I thought it was a “B” episode (if you absolutely loved this episode don’t freak out, a B is in no way a bad grade). I also have brief thoughts about the new opening sequence and even more brief thoughts about Gigantic, but I’ll talk about those later.

Ok so I’m not trying to be mean but I just don’t understand. You thought the episode was so great that it was an A+ so why can’t it be? Just because Kary rated it a B doesn’t mean that the episode is rated a B for everyone. Besides the fact that ratings don’t really mean anything(an episode could get an A or an F and still not effect the episode depending on how much YOU liked it), it’s just Kary’s opinion. Don’t get me wrong I respect his opinion but he could have rated this anything that he wanted, even an F. Everyone is going to view an episode differently, so if someone didn’t like or did like an episode more or less then you did, it doesn’t make a difference for you.

PERSONALLY Kary’s reviews help a lot because sometime I go back to a episode and I see why he disliked it and then It’s the same reasons why I dislike it. If the world worked like your saying I think everyone would make their own degrassi blog and leave here XD. Noo not really, not every Degrassi fan who really likes/dislikes an episode wants to make their own blog to discuss their opinions… But anyway if you had an opinion about an episode why should you change it based on what Kary said, it’s your opinion not his. I know that it can change at any time though but that would be like letting his opinion influence/change yours. Like I said I respect his opinion and I like to see what he says about them as well. The main reason I’m bringing this up is because when Kary said the episode was a B you said “i wanted A+ or at least a B+”. You’re not necessarily saying that you thought the episode was an A+ or B+ it sounds more that you thought Kary or everyone else should have rated it an A+.

AHHH! it was such an amazing episode!
Alli’s storyline was great and Melinda Shankar’s acting was phenomenal.
However, I preferred Jenna’s storyline for this episode. I’m not really sure why. I think Sam Earle is an amazing actor and I always look foward to seeing him perform. I am incredibly curious as to what is going to happen with Jenna and K.C. and what he is going to do after the baby is born.
We all know very well that this is not the end of Alli in Degrassi and that she is going to come back soon.
The new promo looks AMAZING! I’m sooo excited.

okay i thought that ali’s plot deserved a lot more than a b+, i think degrassi delivered a good hook and sinker with ali”s development, and we’ll definately be watching more! I also would like to thank teen nick for not overdoing the promos for this. because when they did for the boiling point, you expected a BAM but what happened? I think that laying degrassi low for a while was a good set up for the shocking end. I think since the boiling point, everyone became a better actor. except riley, i still hate his character. anywho! I was also glad that they didnt jam pack the premire with every single major event occuring. I think they planned these out well. I’m pretty excited for clare and eli’s plot, I think clare should go against her cristian ways with this new persona change, either by choice or like her sister did( a good plot although darcy’s situation was tragic.) i cant wait for next weeks episode!!! follow my twitter?

Yea well actually I was the one who said that Peter was a way bigger character then Chantay. If you actually read all the comments you would have seen that I was replying to someones comment who said that “Peter was probably still going to be on the show but they took him out of the credits bc he’s not a main character but Chantay and Leia are exceptions”. Meaning that if Peter was still going to be in episodes they wouldn’t have taken him out of the credits because overall he’s a much much bigger character. But in my opinion, (even though I was talking about something different) I still disagree. I’m sure 90% of people would rather see Peter (a character who has a huge past) working at the dot rather then Chantay (who has been here almost as long but has no past) walking by Alli in the hallways saying thanks for the uniforms. Chantay may be in the credits but she is still just a filler character. They only use her when they need a character to fill in as a side character or just walk by and say something.

At the end of the episode with Eli, Adam and Sav, when Sav steals his dad’s car to go to the concert, I think Eli and Adam ask if Sav wants to “jam” with them sometime…I’m not really sure if there are only specific kinds of musical instruments involved in jamming. XD I’m assuming guitars and drums and stuff? But I don’t know much about instruments anyway.

Um simply because your one of those obnoxious people who took The Boiling Point for granted and now have to complain about having to wait a week like which we’ve always had to wait (it’s the same for pretty much every show). Hey guys, I haven’t even joined the comments yet, but I have a few things to say. Okay, haha.
I have a theory that when ALLI COMES BACK FROM THE ALL GIRL PRIVATE SCHOOL, AND IS A LESBIAN..if that happens I will kinda be happy and I’ll be in shock. I mean it’s a great new storyline; plus Degrassi needed a new lesbian storyline, not having one since Season 7 (Palex) but mainly Season 5 .. i need one.
Also, HUNTER stated this above a long time ago, but I want to respond.
Your idea of this is really good; reading yours I got my own idea, and I’ve posted it below. Thanks for your idea!
“DEGRASSI SUMMER IN HAWAII”
(send off of characters: Holly J, Sav, Fiona, Declan, Anya, Riley, Zane, Chantay; Peter) (Guest Apperances: Danny, Liberty, Toby, Manny, Emma, Spinner)
Plots- (4 plot; 2-hr. long movie)
Yes it’s weird we know, so do they…but since graduating year and Peter ready for summer him and Chantay have really become friends, not like they have been before, but ya’ know…Since these new buddies have been hitting it off Peter has purchased them tickets to go to Hawaii. Chantay agrees to go and they are really excited, and not only are they excited they don’t know what awaits them. Watch them visit Hawaii as friends, and leave more than that. Along the way old friends are ran into and the whole experience is really strange, even for them…but why them? Is it just a joke…or is there something to prove?
Back in Toronto, Jenna having the baby girl of her dreams…or not…hasn’t really had time for herself. Missing lots of school to stay home with her baby, and being home schooled for the rest of grade 10 wasn’t really her forte. Jenna is bummed and using the little money left from NEXT TEEN STAR really hasn’t helped much, but she does have Sav. But, when things couldn’t get any worse.. an unexpected knock comes. Guess who? ..KC is at the door, pleading to let him help. Jenna has to make some decisions, and possibly give KC a second chance. And when things get too far and Sav catches her cheating Jenna’s world may not be too easy. Until KC really wants to be her baby daddy.
Graduating is the high school may be exciting..but when Holly J gets her letter from Yale University stating that she didn’t get in makes her feel like a failure in life. Turning to Fiona and Declan for actual money to get in Holly J feels that she’ll have to spend the summer in guilt. Luckily her friends Fiona, Sav, and Anya are there for her right? …wrong. Fiona is back in Manhattan for the summer. Anya is taking some Summer prep courses and Sav is just hanging around NOT talking to Holly J. What should she do? There’s only one thing…stripping. But, will stripping really help her, or will it make her fall behind when she tries to raise money for Yale?
Riley is ready for college and the best thing is that Zane and him have been accepted into the same one! That’s good right? Wrong. Zane and Riley have been going strong, but what will happen when Riley settles into college and starts falling for the “gay” football coach. Riley feels college may be a place of regret and has to make some risky decisions along the way..but with some risky consequences too..

Some people may like the idea but personally I don’t. First, I don’t like the idea of Degrassi “goes/takes” anymore. Second, I don’t like how they have to make a special movie just to be the send off for characters. Third, there would be no purpose for any of the old characters to return with a storyline like this. Fourth and most importantly, I would NOT watch a movie that focused on Chantay as the main character. She has never been important in my opinion (which I wouldn’t mind them giving her storylines now at all) but to throw her into a movie as the main character, especially about her and her ‘friendship’ with Peter..? Extra notes: How do Peter and Chantay just ‘run into’ people in Hawaii? Alli is boy crazy, I can’t see her being a lesbian especially since that’s one of her main purposes on the show (but it’s possible since they did that with Paige).

I completely agree with kary about gigantic and I feel that gigantic is using gossip girl’s success to make their own show appealing. The first time I saw the promo it felt like the writers based the characters of the show off of gossip girl, i give credit to the actors and actresses, but i find it unoriginal in every way. For example, anna is trying to be serena, vanessa is trying to be blair,etc. Instead of taking ideas from other shows,they should have been original.
Degrassi will always be the best show on teennick! Me Love Degrassi!
