MAIN PLOT: Sav steals his dad’s truck and goes to the Dead Hand concert.
Sav, Eli and Adam come up with a plan to steal Sav’s dad’s truck for the concert…they purchase tickets to a bollywood double feature for Sav’s parents, and then while they’re at the event Sav and Co. will take the car to the concert.

Well they get to the concert and have a good time, even stay for the encore, but that causes them to have to rush home.  And what does anyone driving do what they’re in a hurry? They speed…and on television speeders always get pulled over.

Now we all expected for Sav to get caught, but it’s clever how it happened. Instead of him getting in trouble directly for speeding, the cop tells Sav that the car has been reported stolen.

I think the problem is that the plot was TOO predictable almost the entire way in this episode.  Sav has “the talk” with his parents, and gets grounded.  The interaction between Sav and Eli/Adam seems to have lost its luster from Part 1.  It was also confusing in Part 2 as to whether or not Sav was creating/going along with the plan to seem cool to Eli and Adam, to rebel against his dad or both.

Side Note: You know how Bianca was sitting in the backseat and kept repeating that she couldn’t get caught underage drinking again? I love how at the end of the episode Eli DOES mention (in passing) that Bianca did indeed get busted.  Now in previous seasons something like that would get overlooked..but this tiny attention to detail shows how improved the writing is this year.

SUBPLOT 1: Jenna’s diet pills has awful side effects.
Jenna continues to battle her weight issues, but this time she’s got her hands on the diet pills courtesy of Biance.  Unfortunately one of the side effects is anal leakage (when you take something that doesn’t absorb fat, the fat has to go somewhere…).

Once again Jenna displays no charisma onscreen, so it’s hard to keep interest in the story. The whole Jenna’s bowels almost releasing on the power squad as she stood high above them thing should’ve been hilarious, but it wasn’t.

Really, the only two good things to come from the plot in the episode are 1) KC seductively feeding Jenna a bacon, egg and cheese muffin….HILARIOUS. And 2) Chantay. She’s always had a limited role on the show, and even though she STILL has yet to be given a main plot, Chantay gives off the aura of a veteran (and not just a secondary character).

SUBPLOT 2: Fiona’s new friend is a handful.
Fiona’s plot started off cute…the pig popping up out of Fiona’s handbag at school was hilarious.  But then the story trails off and eventually comes to a halt.  Fiona and Porcelina have a cute photoshoot, but later in the episode Holly J drops by and we find out that Porcelina nearly destroyed Fiona’s entire apartment.  How that happened (to that extent) is beyond me.

Afterward Fiona decides to return the pig, and she and Holly J have an exchange where they basically regurgitate everything Fiona’s therapist said regarding Fiona’s needy behavior.  And it’s as if Fiona suddenly realizes she’s being silly, and that apparently “is the end of that” (her behavior I mean).  This is the second plot involving the Fiona/Holly J dynamic, where they abruptly drop the plot at the end as if it were no big deal to begin with.

  6. Fiona and the pig made about as much sense as Emma and Spinner getting hitched.

In other words, it was classic Degrassi

  8. I feel like Sav’s plot should have been rated higher…maybe a B or B+. Because the way you described it was a great and clever plot that was kinda predictable. That doesn’t sound like a C+ rating to me anyways. I agree with the other grades as a little pig seems unlikely to do THAT much damage and that Jenna’s plot wasn’t as enjoyable as it should have been. But I think her acting was better than in part 1.

  10. Oh, the pig destroyed Fiona’s apartment? I was under the impression that Fiona was trying to catch it and ended up making a huge mess, so it didn’t bother me much. As for Sav’s plot, I really don’t care about him enough to enjoy this episode much. Jenna… well, at least she’s getting better at acting than she was last season.

  13. I thought Sav’s plot deserved a higher rating due to what I saw as the highlight of this plot. Which was Sav telling his parents during the argument how much he had sacrificed to make them happy, including love, which I think showed real growth. The Fiona and Holly J plots are okay, I think they are just kind of showing that they are becoming best friends by actually giving them screen time as opposed to just seeing them together when one of them has a crisis happening. So they might not be the greatest, but at least degrassi is giving their friendship some context. And I thought the pig was kind of funny haha.

  14. Jessica Tyler’s acting was pretty bad. Her voice was monotone. It had zero emotion the entire show. And when KC showed up to bring her new pants after her accident, she didn’t seem very embarrassed and had no problem telling KC why she took the diet pills. It was just back and forth dialogue, no pauses, no beats. She didn’t seem very hesitant at all to tell him about her weight problems and that’s very unrealistic.

  15. Also, I really liked Sav’s plot. It was awesome that he stood up to his parents.

And Jenna is probably pregnant. I mean, she gained weight (primarily in her stomach), she has weird cravings, and she got sick (that could be from the pills, but ya never know). The only thing is that who could the father be? They never suggested that KC and Jenna are having sex. And if it is Peter, then that’s a little far-fetched, right. Because they never suggested that, either.

  16. Pigs can do a lot of damage. Tho that small it might not have been so severe, even “mini” pigs get too big for a house or apartment and get violent and destructive. I’m glad they decided to nip that one in the bud as a bad idea, but maybe they should have gone into it a little bit more about what bad pets they make. We don’t need a bunch of kids going out to get pigs because they think they’re cute, only to realize what bad pets they actually make unless you have land to keep ’em on.

  17. I’m sorry, but I just have to say this.

I don’t like how they style Bianca’s hair. I understand they’re trying to create a bad girl persona with all the hairspray, but I want them to make her hair like it was in Shark in the Water.

  18. This is probably the first time I enjoyed a Sav plot. I find it weird that nobody mentioned his little outburst at the end: “I’m not this cool guy who gets out of stuff like you guys do, I’m a loser, I suck!” Isn’t that exactly what we thought all along?

  20. Wow. Nobody has said it yet. I have to point this out:
Why the hell didn’t Sav Adam and Eli just go to the concert in Eli’s car! I mean come ON. It would have been so much easier and smarter! Will someone please explain this to me -.-

I agree Jessica Tyler should definatly not be jenna. Anyone but her I mean, she shows no emotion or feeling. You would have though she was eating tic tacs instead of pills that give u horrible side effects. She was horrible!!!!!! I hate it!!!! Like when Emma had an eating disorder she spaded out she lost her friend she hid food she cried and lied and I loved it. I can hardly watch Jenna she ruins a perfectly good plot with her acting it’s such a waste
