MAIN PLOT: KC continues to resist moving in with his mom.
KC’s acting out because of the situation with his mom leads him to a drunken night with Bianca and Fitz, and behaving extra aggressively on the football field. Mr. Armstrong notices there’s something wrong and tells KC to let him know if he can do anything to help.
Well the opportunity presents itself; KC needs a teacher or coach to be a reference for his case to tell the judge that he’s better off living in the group home. But an awkward scene leads to an awkward exchange between KC and Armstrong, who declines because “I’m just your teacher.”
And then KC keys Armstrong’s car.
The pace of this episode moves a little too fast for me…it quickly goes from KC (barely) getting out of control, to suddenly giving in and moving in with his mom. I just find it weird that after all of the bitterness and hatred all it takes is KC’s mom lying for him about the car for him to finally give his mom a chance.
Now get me wrong, I was impressed with Sam Earle’s acting (especially in the last scene), but the storyline rushes to get to a happy ending with KC and his mom. Part 1 was good, but Part 2 is just ok overall.

SUBPLOT 1: Eli helps Clare deal with her family troubles.
There’s definitely marital problems happening between Clare’s parents, but Clare’s mom doesn’t want to admit it. Eli convinces her to use the feelings she have in her writing assignment. Clare’s work is so good that Ms. Dawes signs her up for the student showcase.
But….Clare gets cold feet because she can’t read her feelings about her parents’ issues with her mom sitting in the crowd. Clare eventually lets her mom read it, and that begins a domino effect of Clare opening up to her mom, her mom opening up to Clare, and Clare’s parents opening up to each other.
Even in earlier appearances this season where she’s been just a support character for Alli, I’m really enjoying Clare this season. She’s so reserved, and it’s great that they’re using Eli and conflict within her family to help her open up (too bad Darcy is busy being held captive by Mbabwe African tribe to partake in this plot).

SUBPLOT 2: Alli and Drew aren’t on the same page about their relationship.
After their makeout session, Alli thinks she and Drew are dating. But it’s obvious that Drew isn’t thinking the same thing. But then, he suddenly changes his mind. Though it’s drawn out through most of the episode, it feels like a shortened plot because it ends so abruptly. I get the feeling that Drew is just using Alli to get some (aka makeout), while Alli assumes that they’re a couple. But it’s looking like we won’t get to see this plot fleshed out until over a week from now.

Actually, I’m kind of glad Clare and Eli are taking things slow. The momentum is at a steady pace and they will be together eventually but right now, I like things just the way they are. Because they don’t rush into things like Alli and Drew did, for example, they have more in their relationship that they can build on. It becomes something more than just superficial outward attraction. It’s a healthy relationship, and that is something I look forward to seeing every new episode.

I loved when Eli gave Clare the headphones! They’re just perfect. They brighten up every moment they pop up in.
And as for Alli, I am so sick of her. She’s so shallow and naive. Every single plot she’s ever been involved in just makes me hate her more. I really hope she grows up.

I agree. His acting in that scene reminded me of the scene in Heart Like Mine where he’s out in the hallway of the motel after Coach Carson hires him a hooker. Really, really powerful.

on twitter i tweeted aislinn paul saying my favorite part of last nights episode was when clare and eli cut school. i said that there was so much chemistry and it made me jealous that i don’t have a boyfriend.

and did anyone else notice that CLARE HAS A POSTER OF ROBERT PATTINSON IN HER LOCKER?!!!! which, of course, leads to a terrific line from eli: “Was Twilight on TV?”

suffice to say, i <3 <3 <3 eli. (as does pretty much everyone, i'm sure)
the alli plot just . . . bored me. im already incredibly sick of alli this season, she just annoys me as a person at this point, but this plot also kind of felt pointless. yeah, it made it pretty clear that all drew wants is sex (or making out, but i have no doubt that one thing will lead to another), but at the end of this episode, we're still left exactly where we were at the end of BOA part 1: alli and drew making out, with no actual relationship established.
and yeah, kc's plot was just completely rushed. it was sweet, but if i were him, i wouldnt have been so quick to forgive. and i was really disappointed that bianca didnt really do much of anything. also, i cant quite tell whether kc and jenna are still together. i think they are, considering that jenna agreed to run away with kc, but they dont really feel like much of a couple anymore.

I’ve been looking everywhere for some sort of explanation as to why Clare was obsessed with the book series, “Fortnight” in “Innocent When You Dream” but then in “Better off Alone Pt.2” she had that poster of Robert Pattinson in her locker and Eli asked if Twilight was on..
Hmm… found it funny. Maybe they decided that using “Fortnight” would make Degrassi seem more like fiction and less like a real school.

i do agree with plot A. it did move fast but the ending makes up for it. Sam Earle’s acting improved from previous episodes. nothing really bad i can say about it expect that if they gave the storyline a slower turn, but given how they are doing the episodes this season, if it did get longer, i feel like it couldn’t be a two parter. maybe as a one part and you’ll see what i mean later.
(The question is….will they bring K.C.’s dad out of the shadows?? i’ll be waiting for that.)
subplot A….no explanation of course. lol
subplot B is what i was talking about in KC’s story. first of all, you’ve got to feel bad about Dave. when I saw that, I was like “Wow! Welcome to my life!” it reminded me of those times ive tried getting the girl, but it fails because of a certain “other”.
I will say that it shouldnt have ended like it did. had it have ended without that final scene, it would have been better, especially with their upcoming plot line in the future. Alli’s cool points are really dropping this time around. Wow Alli!
now, back to the KC thing, if Alli’s storyline didnt end like that, it would have been better if they didn’t have it at all. the other two storyline hold their on pretty much. their plot in part one would have been better as a one parter instead.
if nothing else, solid week of episodes….

ahhh! This was a pretty good episode:)
First off, Clare and Eli=loved it!! They are literally perfect for eachother. I thought it was nice how he was trying to motivate Clare and give her more confidence and stuff. I can’t wait to see more of that soon to be relationship:D
I liked the KC part. In some way, I think it was important for them to show KC spiraling out of control because they made it seem like he was the bad kid from the begining and we never really got to see that except maybe a few minor times. Idk.. I know that was a ramble:) I was just glad to see that he kind of got back on track in the end with his mom but something doesn’t seem right and I have a gut feeling that his mom is going to go back to her old ways. Maybe I’m wrong lol
The Alli and Drew plot was forgettable for me and I didn’t have much interest in it. I just saw clueless Alli being clueless Alli again:)
As for next week… I am excited for Adam and to see more of Eli:D I am still waiting for the day where KC walks up to Jenna and tells her he wants to break up. :D

After a slew of lackluster couples in recent seasons (Peter/Mia, Leia/Danny, Holly J/Blue, KC/Jenna, Sav/Anya), EClare is so refreshing! They’ve got terrific chemistry. I really hope that nothing bad happens to Eli.
I was really worried that he was going to be some stereotypical goth/emo/alternative creepnik, but he seems like a genuinely nice, already well-developed guy. I’d been wanting Clare and KC to end up back together, but now that Eli’s on the scene, screw that!

I think part 2 was even better than part 1. I loved how Eli helped Claire tell her parents how she was feeling and I’m glad that KC gave his mother a second chance. It may have been hard for him to do, but its the only way for him to find out if she has really changed. If she screws up again, then he’ll know that he can’t trust her. I can’t wait for next weeks episodes.

I was kinda confused with the KC plot. I mean, he went to all that trouble, made a big deal out of it, and then BAM, he decides he DOES want to move in with her after all. I’m not sure about his mom either. She seems…off. I don’t think she’s completely changed. And the scene where she was like “You blame HIM for doing something bad, because his mother was in jail?!” I just wanted to get up and scream “But he DID do it, lady!”
I didn’t really pay attention to the Alli/Drew plot. It bored me, and it seemed really fast, and nothing that interesting really happened with it. Hopefully that will change. And I’m loving Eli/Clare. They’re cute together.

it seems like Bianca and Fitz are like the new Alex and Jay, but they didn’t contribute as much to this episode as i thought they would. and i think it would’ve been better to lenghten KC’s storyline over more than just 2 episodes because it felt rushed.

Honestly I think alli just needs a little more time before we seriously start to not like her because honestly her life is pretty much perfect. She hasn’t really experienced or gone through anything other than a “douche bag” ex-boyfriend. I dont think Alli will change until something happens which will probably be the boiling point because i remember reading somewhere that she leaves the show for a while so i hope that makes her more mature but i dont like the idea that something bad is going to happen to her but ay its degrassi soo if your on it you hit a rock bottom of some sorts but im cheering for alli because she is still in little kid mode and is used to getting what she wants

I for one disagree with Riley needing a “new” plot. It’s going at a pretty good pace. At first he kept denying it to himself that he was gay, then slowly, very slowly, he finally began to accept himself. Then he started opening up to those really close to him(Peter, Anya) and then he started secretly dating(Zane). And most likely by the end of this season he’ll have grown comfortable enough to be entirely open about his sexuality. I doubt the writers would have him leave the show without him finally coming out to everyone.
My point is this stuff takes time. And I’m THRILLED Degrassi is taking time with Riley, it’s very realistic. People come out at different times, Some people never come out.
Riley doesn’t need a “new” story. He already has a great one.
Why don’t we supply some of these other characters with NO stories with one instead?

When Clare was telling Eli what was wrong with her assignment, I love how Eli tells her that at least “The title’s centred!”. It got a chuckle out of me.
If I were 10 years younger, and didn’t attend an all-girl highschool, I’d totally date Eli.
Another great thing about Clare/Eli – I LOVE how this couple has been brought together not out of a mutual attraction to one another from the get-go (as in, “you’re hot, I wanna date you”), but because they were working together on school assignments, and bonded on an emotional level. When was the last time Degrassi did that? The most recent couple I can think of that wasn’t based on mutual lust from the beginning, one that took time to develop emotionally, is Palex, and that was 5 years ago (if we’re talking Original Palex)! There have been very few couples on the show who’ve started in such a way: Craig/Ashley, sort of Sean/Ellie, Jimmy/Ellie (even though they never “happened”), and in my opinion, THE couple that should have happened, Toby/Holly J. Even the more interesting couples of recent seasons: Johnny/Alli, Spinner/Jane, started only because the two involved were physically attracted to one another. Gold star to the writers for EClare! Now let’s pray they won’t screw them up!

I have to say, I actually disagree on the grade for KC’s plot. Yes, it was fast, but the whole entire time, it put me on the edge of my seat. In my opinion, it deserved at least a B.
But, I loved, loved, loved Eli and Clare in this episode, even more from the last. Lol. I know that this would have been too far fetched, but when she said, “Eli, wait!” and grabbed his hand on the car door, I seriously wanted her to kiss him. Right then and there. Haha.
Alli and Drew…I don’t really know. He’s definitely adorable, and charming, but he is also the type to screw a girl over. So, I feel bad for Alli in that situation. But, I also don’t feel bad for her, because she knows that he’s QB1 and all the girls love him, so she should understand that he’s not going to want to be in a committed relationship.
Anyways, I do agree with your grades for the other plots.(:

Yes! I totally thought that Bianca and Fitz were gonna have a considerably big role, I was really bummed that we only saw the aftermath of their wild night and only got a few lines from them…although they were pretty great lines, hah. I think it would’ve been more interesting to see them pull some stunt and have KC get in trouble for that than the whole Armstrong thing.

Of course I missed the show so im going to watch on MTV tomorow morning , although from what I’ve read :
Ali & Drew seems like just another pointless Degrassi couple, I mean even though I see some potential in a drama kinda way, I won’t care if they break up or whatever, Ali is in almost EVERY subplot, too much of her shallowness bothers me >_<
Eli and Claire is probably going to be this seasons IT couple because they actually base there relationship on something , its devolping , not rushed , although im killing for some drama between them , whether love triangle or a big secret coming out , I hope when they reah there 'boiling point' its based on the relationship . seems mean but hey , it is degrassi .
K.C … based on last episode I though a thing might go on between Bianca and him and I was excited but now im blaaah . I watched some part of the ep and She's sending off really bad vibes and also seems strangly famiLiar . and with his mom , I herd the "ihatemymom" phase ended quickly so that seems like a waste of the plot of Pt.1 .
I just want to see someonee reach there boiling point sometime this week , all the cliffhangers leading to fastly devolped pt.2's are suspensing me .

The scene at the end with KC in the doorway was really touching…as aggravating as the rest of that plot was this episode was, it finished off really, really strong.
And as much as I love Eli and Eclare (Looking to be my favorite Degrassi couple ever) I’m excited to see how he reacts to getting knocked around by Fitz…

Characters I feel would benefit a shocking change
– A relationship between Fiona and Bionca. They are both pretty feisty ladies, could be seductively shocking.
– Craig comes back (because I love him, and these are my personal stream on consciousness come to life) and stares at Mr. Simpson and asks him for help because he relaspsed and needs a place to live. He starts cleaning up his act, volunteering for room and board (at Emma’s) at degrassi in the photo and music classes. Becomes friends with Sav, is sober, and is on the show again…and maybe even snags…say, Ali, and help calms her down a bit, with her “older man” ways.
-Ellie comes back only to find out that she is really Mr. Simpson’s (snakes) biological, and illgetimate daughter.(GINGER LOVE)
-Paige comes back and seduces Drew, he thinks he is so awesome for scoring a cougar, that he walks around Degrassi even more stuck up, and thus making people hate him more. This will immmediately trigger his mother to go mad, and force an entire 4 month campaign against Degrassi to shut down for 3 months, due to investigations. Which will add another epic part1 and part 2

Ok so this might be a little crazy and kind of out there but maybe Anya’s mom and Clare’s dad are secretly dating. In one of the promos Leia tells Anya her mom is cheating and I am kind of geting the vibe that Clare’s dad is cheating. What do you guys think?

Yeah I got that vibe too and it definitely wouldnt surprise me if he was. I feel so bad for clare’s mothers though cuz it seems like she really has no idea what’s wrong.

You could be right, but that would be weird if Claire’s dad and Anya’s mom were dating. I doubt he’s cheating, I think that him and his wife are just having communication problems, but you never know because he hasn’t been home alot in the episodes. I can’t till next week’s episodes. Especially for Eli’s plot with Fitz. I hope he doesn’t get messed up too badly.

god, now i really want that to happen! clare and anya are two of my favorite characters at the moment, and i would LOVE for them to, like, talk to each other. actually, i would love for any of my favorite characters to talk to each other . . . i always wanted a friendship between anya and fiona. even more than that, i think ellie needs to come back and be clare’s mentor :)

My boyfriend was also really confused about KC suddenly changing his mind…after KC said “I missed you mom”, he added on “I loved being locked in the closet, I always wanted to be like Harry Potter!” *facepalm*
Next weeks episodes seem more intense and less…fluffy? I’m looking forward to them a lot.

Love this week episodes! Really wish they could be an hour instead of 30 minutes though. I also like how everyones plot is getting more in more interesting as time goes on…note:Boiling Point. The KC thing is very understandable…when u think about it KC has always had to defend himself and his mom defending him was a huge deal 4 him. And I just wish there coulda been some flashbacks of him growing up with his mom. Maybe I coulda been alittle more sympathetic when he was throwing all those temper tantrums. But I like how he moved back in with her b/c now we know its possible that she will have a relapse n KC is going to go back to his troubled kid act.
Alli and Drew for me isn’t a good match up. To me Drew seems like his hiding a secret especially when he was trying to convince Alli he was to busy to be her boyfriend. Secrets, secrets, secrets! But I have a feeling Alli will end up with Dave. I like Dave for her.
Clare and Eli are perfect! LOve Em!!! I thought I wouldn’t like Eli too much since he’s a dark character but its something about him that I love. He’s like a guilty pleasure. I’m very excited to see where that cute little relationships goes. But someone mentioned to me that he was goin to write a suicide note as an attempt to stop Fitz bullying. Which is a good theory b/c in next weeks episode looks like he was getting flipped in twisted around.
I’m curious to know who gets pregnant! B/c there will be and unexpected pregnancy! And why is Jenna so heavy? I mean she was never a stick but she’s huge now.

KC and his mom: Yes KC changed over quickly. But here’s a thought: maybe he wants to be with his mom for some more freedom. Plus I think something is up with his mom. o.O

Clare and Eli: LOVE! ^_^ I love how they are actually developing a relationship and not instantly in love.
Alli and Drew: First off… Poor Dave. And something’s up with Drew. First he doesn’t want a relationship… Then he does. [Or at least to use Alli.] He’s got some secrets… I vote bi! haha. anyways…
I’m thinking Drew uses Alli and maybe she’ll finally GROW UP! [or at least thats what I hope.]
And does anyone else see a super underlying plot of the season aka Principal Simpson? Poorer test scores, and problems with parents [Drew’s mom and KC’s mom.] Maybe its just him adjusting or maybe it’ll come into play later, but he’s having some issues adjusting to principal. [or is it just me?]

I really think that Alli and Dave relationship is quite similar to Manny and JT when Manny ‘changed her look’ JT wanted her but Manny wanted better guys. Same with Alli and Dave but Alli wants Drew. Think about it.

I love Eli and Clare. It’s def not the kind of guy i see her w/ and that makes it even better. Plus, Eli’s def going to bring a lot of drama to the show w/ fitz. I just hope the “death” card in the preview wasn’t about him, cuz i’m really starting to like him :)
And as for Alli, can we just get rid of her? She’s pretty much everything i can’t stand in a girl. Everything she does in the show is about getting the guy and she does things that are just pathetic. It’s getting pretty old, really.
