MAIN PLOT: Fiona’s plot to expose Bobby doesn’t goes as planned.
The Fiona drama slowly ramps down because Fiona finally decides she’s gonna let the world see what Bobby’s done (by posting pictures of herself with a black eye on the internet). The problem is no one believes her, not even Declan. The only person who doesn’t think Fiona is being overdramatic is Holly J.
Upon learning that Holly J actually showed concern, Fiona randomly hops on a plane and shows up at Degrassi. Fiona doesn’t want the cops or lawyers involved; she just wants the situation to go away. So the next thing we know we’re left wondering whether or not Fiona’s mom is going to drag her back to Manhattan. Besides Fiona’s impromptu trip to Toronto (which seemed really weird), this plot maintains its solid pace.

SUBPLOT 1: Sav and Holly J battle for Student Body President.
Word gets out about Sav and Anya’s “pregnancy,” and it actually helps Sav’s campaign instead of hurting it like Holly J anticipated. Overcome with guilt thought, Anya confesses that the pregnancy is a lie, and instead of being angry Sav is relieved.
Sav wants to tell the truth, but Anya convinces him to keep up the pregnancy lie since it’s giving him an advantage. The best part is Holly J can’t do anything about it: if she rats Sav out, Anya will make sure the world knows the fake pregnancy was Holly J’s idea. Sav wins the election and Anya’s left with two victories: she’s got her man back, and she stuck it to Holly J.

SUBPLOT 2: Jenna starts a rumor about Clare.
Jenna overhears Clare and Alli talking about an upcoming surgery Clare is having, and Jenna automatically assumes it’s a boob job.
She blabs to KC and the rest of their grade 10 crew (Connor, Dave and Wesley). I know they’re stuck in classes together, but it still bugs me that Clare doesn’t just rip Jenna’s head off everytime she sees her. This part of the plot (which will continue in Breakaway Pt 2) feels lame…it doesn’t feel like a storyline where a rumor’s been started about someone. Watch the Season 1 episode Rumors and Reputations…now THAT is a rumor episode.

Well of course not everything has to be serious, but they still need to be interesting…and it wasn’t. Clare’s plot is a million times better in Part 2 than in Part 1.

First of all Sav broke up with Anya because she lied about being on the pill. Then she lies about being buys to get back with him and he flips out on her again. Now shes mad at him and decides to go along with Holly J’s plan and pretend shes pregnant. When Sav finds out that this is a lie he doesn’t care at all …? But he cared so much that she lied about being busy? Next they decide to tell the whole school that “their” pregnant just to get student council votes. How many teenage girls and guys wouldn’t mind the whole school knowing their pregnant. Normally it’s something kind of embarrassing. Now that Sav won they decide to admit that it’s a lie, becaues the school is going to be so accepting that they lied to get votes but instead if you saw part 4 you know what happens …. one day they are pregnant and the next day shes already not? Also, if they really were pregnant and he was supporting Anya he would have a lot of work to do with that and it would be pretty hard to do that and be student council pres. I have more to say about it but I don’t want to give anything away from the next part.

You just named a bunch of reasons as to why I think the plot is great (throw in Holly J in there as well): the fact that it’s ironic they’re all basically lying and using each other, but for different reasons.

Yea but I didn’t say anything about Holly J. Sav is mad at Anya for lying about being busy but he doesn’t care that she faked a pregnancy to help Holly j. Also, he can’t even tell hims mom that he’s dating her but he told Anya about a wedding for them and he was going to tell his mom. Anya’s not going to care that all of the teachers and students think shes pregnant one day and literally the next day she tells everyone she lost it. I like the fake pregnancy idea but for the whole school? I hope she ends up really being pregnant and the two of them just end up looking stupid. Holly J was using Anya to win. Also what did Sav expect everyone just to be like oh ok when they planned to tell everyone they were lying?

I have to agree with Kary, actually, though I normally don’t (seriously, HOW can you like Liberty as a character? She is a miserable creature undeserving of any sympathy. I digress).
I agree that the election plot is pretty interesting, which astounds me because they really go back to the election plotline so many times throughout the series.
It bothered me that Sav didn’t get really angry and pissed off, but he did what I didn’t expect, and that makes it interesting. Furthermore, it worked out for the best for him. The fact that he used to get mad at Anya for petty things but now is mature about big things shows character development.
Degrassi has character development. I think I just saw a pig fly by my window.
One final note is that, because of all this, I hate Holly J almost as much as I hate Liberty. I hate her smug talks with Declan (“yup, I just made up a lie about Sav, potentially ruined his life, and we’ll be making out at Yale soon!”). I hate how she only wanted to be president for her own personal gain and not, as Anya pointed out, for the betterment of the student body.
But she lost, and she deserved to lose, and she deserves to be hated by everyone, and the world is at peace now, and I am getting way too angry about a show meant for girls ten years younger than me.

It’s not the election plot that I don’t like. It’s Anya not caring about herself to let not juts Sav and Holly J to think shes pregnant. Also character development is great. Sav use to get mad at Anya for little things and now he doesn’t is good but he doesn’t give a sh*t at all that she used him to help Holly J? He started to plan a wedding because he thought she was really pregnant lol. Also, he can’t even tell his parents that hes dating Anya. How many teenagers are comfortable with the whole school thinking they are pregnant especially when they are not. It’s not the school knowing you have a cold it’s the school knowing that your pregnant. Does anyone get what I’m trying to say? I guess its not really ridiculous it just seems a little silly.
I dooo like the whole idea that it was suppose to be just to trick Sav but the whole school found out though.

I like the review and grades, but I did actually enjoy the Clare plot. However, maybe I’m just a bit biased because I’ve already seen Breakaway Part 2 and I loved her in it. You’re right though, Clare was quite civil towards Jenna, but Clare shows a much different side of her in Part 2, a more edgy, fiery side that I think you’ll like a lot more.

here’s my theory. Remember in Season 7 when Ms. H went back to Regina to help Peter’s sick Grandmother and then she came back as Principal in season 9 (which by the way, was just as random, but on the bright side it got rid of The Shep)?
She only came back because of Peter’s meth addiction and because he didn’t have that adult you need for support.
I can only guess two things:
1) either she stayed in Toronto while Peter is working at The Dot and going to college (keep in mind, she wasn’t in Season 9 like she was in past seasons) and is working in a new occupation or:
2) She might have went back to Regina after Peter proved he can handle himself.
Once again, these are just theories, but if I had to choose, I’d choose #1

Liberty’s, because it had the necessary elements of a rumor: the source (emma), the rumor spreader (paige, terri, etc.), the audience (every Degrassi student knowing), and it having some sort of impact on that person surrounding the rumor (e.i Liberty).
Craire’s rumor only spread to a certain group, not Degrassi and didn’t have much of an effect on her.

i agree with the main plot’s grade. there was something that I felt should have been done, but given that it’s Fiona and how she was portrayed to others in the show, now I understand.
One thing I do wish (and hope) is that something happens to Bobby as far as the consequences of dating abuse. unless they might touch on this again, they made it seem like he got away with it, even if according to him they’re “done”.
I agree with Sav & Anya’s plot.
Claire’s plot in this is kind of like a setup for the other part that way better. had this episode aired as a one-hour episode, it may have had some interest.

That’s one thing that bugged me about Breakaway Pt 2., that it’s like Fiona moved to Toronto and the entire abuse storyline was dropped just like that. I’ll be disappointed if they don’t bring it back up (or have her deal with some emotional side effects) later in the season.

i know it’s horrible! degrassi has a habit of doing that, just dropping things but i expected better out of season 10. i found solace in sav/anya/holly j all using each other and clare being a bitch to jenna – who completely deserved it. what happened to a solid season opener like Standing in the Dark? I think that’s the most intense and best one degrassi has EVER had. God I miss Shenae.

I don’t know if this is out of the blue or whatever but I’m kind of confused about the whole Jenna/Clare/KC thing. In the episode were KC broke up with Clare he wasnt dating Jenna while he was dating Clare. But in a episode were KC cheats off of Clare on a test Clare says to KC “First you cheat on me with her, Now you cheat off of me because of her.” Thats what I don’t get. He wasnt cheatin on Clare with Jenna because he broke up with Clare before the big party thing were Jenna and KC got together. Im kind of confused could someone explain it?

I’m pretty sure that Clare means that KC started to like/fall for Jenna while they were still going out. At the car wash KC and Clare were still going out but KC went of and was having a “good time” (and by that I don’t mean in a relationship way haha) with Jenna and lifting her up in her bikini etc. So she feels like KC basically cheated on her with Jenna.

I personally believe that they are doing well with Fiona’s plot so far. (Mind you, I have not seen either Breakaway eps) Heck, I’m just glad she HAS a storyline!!
Abuse is a touchy subject that they have already used (IE Rick and Terri) so I am confident they will carry it out appropriately, even if Fiona’s situation is different from Terri’s. This isn’t the writer’s first rodeo.
For the whole thing with Declan and Holly J. (The movie) I’m a bit disappointed. She goes to the Hamptons, and everything is okay again? Sure, there’s therapy, but I kind of wanted more. It was pretty interesting that Fiona couldn’t live her life without Declan. Maybe I’m the only one who thinks this…
But anyway, I’m super excited for Fiona in this coming season!!! This shall be interesting!

I know this is off topic but did anyone else notice on MuchMusic’s website with the cast and character bios that in Fionas there was a picture with her and Adam. Usually in those photos the were with people the characters are friends with a hangout with. So is there a possible friendship between Fiona and Adam later in the season? I guess we will have to find out. I just thought that was interesting.

Well alot of people hate Jessica’s character because she “took” KC away from Clare. Beleive me, I was pretty mad about it too! Mainly becuase they fell in love so spontaniously and for her to just ruin in likme that? Ugh! I got mad. But then I started to realize, that they are actually a really good couple. They are a grade 10 power couple to be exact. Athlete and cheerleader… good mix. A lot of people like Clare because of KC, well at least that’s what I think.
I think Bianca and KC are just friends… I heard tons of stuff about her and Fitz being the new Alex and Jay. But KC does move crowds when family drama happens and he goes to the bad kids soooo you never know! I mean it IS Degrassi, right? :)

I’m surprised that Sav handled the truth as well as he did (saying it was “sweet”?), considering he was livid about Anya lying about being on the pill in WCTBL. In my opinion, lying about being pregnant, and having it almost cost you school presidency is harder to deal with than your significant other lying about being on birth control when they aren’t. That’s what really bothered me about this storyline.

And I really like claire becuase come on she’s darcy`s sister she’s gotta be awesome lol. And im sad alli and claire are gonna hang out less but I guess that happens to all best friends ex. Emma And Manny. But I wonder why Alli and Jenna start hanging out when Alli even though Claire is the real one who should hate her. I really liked the Jenna/Clare plot. I can’t wait for Clare to find out what she was actually talking about on tmrrow’s episode:)
The whole Fiona part is really good and I’m glad they took it over like three episodes instead of just one.

I enjoyed the episode. I liked how Sav wasn’t mad at Anya because if he had gotten mad at her it would’ve been another roller coaster and we’ve already seen them break up, get back together, break up etc so it was unexpected and nice.
I didn’t quite enjoy the fact that when Declan did finally believe Fiona about Bobby he wasn’t very mad or anything. I know she has a past of yelling wolf but he believed her that time and he just had a smile for her. I know I’d want my brother to be ready to start a fight.
The Clare and Jenna thing, I thought, was pretty entertaining. I didn’t think Clare really needed to be super mean to her because it was only in the first stages of Jenna telling her off. I think Clare handled herself well.

I agree…I was just WAITING for Declan to blow a fuse and take on Bobby after Fiona told him what he did. His reaction was disappointing to be sure. But now we really see his personality; he’s not willing to start anything dramatic, he’s not rash, and he’s definitely not a fighter :P

Right. “And embarrass mom and dad with a no-show, that’s not my style.” He’s starting to show his true colors these past episodes. Makes me like him mess and love Fiona more.

i hated that the teennick promo for this episode was so misleading, it pisses me off that on the promo it showed fiona on the edge of the roof then “will fiona reach her boiling point?” and when inn the actual epiosde she got off the roof beofre the opening credits. i liked the epiosde but i wouldve liked it more if they had a non misleading promo from teennick instead of the onw they had shown >___<

exactly. i was like freaking out when she was walking on THE VERY EDGE of the roof thinking something was going to happen. but nope. it made u dissapointed not even 5min. in the show.

yeah and i wouldve been fine with that if they didnt advertise it like she going to jump or somthing. i wonder if the much music epiosde promos are better?

I was sorta hoping for a real Declan/Bobby confrontation. Maybe later on in the season? Since Bobby is SUPPOSEDLY coming back. I’m anxious to see how the whole things going to turn out. Fiona obviously doesn’t want to get a lawyer involved, but I don’t think her mother is going to let this thing go(and all Fiona wants is to let it go and forget about it)
I’m liking the Anya/Sav and Holly J plot. I was thinking that Anya wouldn’t tell Sav so soon, though. I’m glad she did now. But I was expecting Sav to be angry, not as sweet as he was. I guess he was just happy that he wouldn’t be a teen dad? Though I liked how he was so supportive of Anya in the beginning.

I totally loved the fact that in the episode Bobby said that Fiona had posted her black eye pictures on twitter and on Fiona’s twitter there actually WAS a picture of her black eye.
I thought that was pretty genius because it feels like we’re interacting with them now.

Yea Claire definatly could have given Jenna more than a few words she needs more fire and I acually liked that storyline and hope it turns out more entertaining
sav and Anya storyline is interesting…maybe Sonya once more? Although the on off thing is getting quite annyoying and expectant
Fiona’s abbuse….the excitment is wearing off for me, it’s ok now but the novelty has been lost and I feel like it ended waaat to soon they could have soon much much more. To me it’s not pike Rick, Rick wanted control over Terry and felt bad about hurting her while Bobby just flat out hurts fiona for defying him and not giving him his way…there is a big differnce the similarity is the physical abbuse overall
