Echo Bridge Entertaiment has announced July 20th as the DVD release date for Degrassi Season 9. That’s a Tuesday, and it puts it right during the beginning of Degrassi Season 10′s first week of episodes.
Of course the DVD will have all of the usual stuff: bloopers, deleted scenes and minis. Ever since Echo Bride took over distribution of the dvds I haven’t had a reason to complain about the extras…they’ve been plenty and great. I expect the same from Season 9.
They also have a description for the Degrassi Takes Manhattan movie:
Best friends and Degrassi grads Holly J and Jane head to NYC filled with hopes and dreams—Jane’s to front an indie band—Holly J’s to shine as a TVM intern in Times Square with Declan at her side. But along the way, they’ll have to deal with unexpected love and Fiona’s insecurities. Pool parties, Park Avenue, a race home to break up an unlikely wedding. One thing I’m wondering is what the price of this DVD will be. I remember back when Degrassi boxsets were in the $40-50 price range. Then with Season 7 and 8′s boxsets they dropped down to about $30. And for the past several months the prices of Seasons 7 and 8 have been slashed 50% or more. Out of any store selling them, Best Buy has the cheapest price anywhere: they’re $9.99 each.

I’m glad they’ve got the flipbooks, but I’m annoyed about how small the photos are. And none of the press outlets are posting HQ photos anymore.
Target is selling Season 7 and Season 8 TOGETHER in one bundle for $19.99. and the casing for each season is a slim like a regular DVD movie.
I’m kind of disappointed with who’s on the cover…
The people I believe deserve a spot on the front (for being heavily focused on in season 9) are:
Peter, Alli, Holly J, Riley, Clare, Declan, KC, Jane(she’s not really in the season, but she DOES have a large role in the movie)

but i was in bestbuy yesturday and i saw the season 7 dvd in a single dvd Case..and the case sadi it had all the episodes..so they must have all the seasons in 4 discs, but just in one dvd case….i thought it was so odd.but whats the difference if they put it in a box-set???

Make your own Degrassi News website and then you can have all the “credit” you want.
There really isn’t a difference but personally I would much rather have the box set over just a skinny little DVD case! If I got the skinny DVD case I wouldn’t feel complete. I am a huge weirdo and sometimes I will just stare at all of my Degrassi DVD seasons and having the skinny case just wouldn’t look right! Haha! :)

I much prefer the covers of the DVD sets from seasons 1-6. These are just so MS Paint. What’s the background supposed to be, anyway? And those quotes are super tacky.
I also want to know WHERE these elusive season 9 promo shots are! TeenNick used to have those huge season flipbooks full of promo photos on their Degrassi character pages but there’s been nothing, this season. Kary, might you have a link to them, somewhere?
No, I don’t :-( Yeah, TeenNick does their own Season promo shots(they use them in the graphics on their website all the time), but they’re nowhere to be found on the web. I’d kill to have them!
The cover art is awful! Season 1-6 at least looks like they had someone that could use photoshop. These newer ones look cheap and tacky.
Uh-uh. Something must have changed, because my boxed sets for Seasons 2 and 6 both have 4 discs in 4 seperate cases. Disc 4 is always the extras. Except for Season 1, which only had 3 disks, in which case Disc 3 had the extras, and the episodes were all on Disks 1 and 2.

yes, very much show..the 1st episode or two will be the summer. and then the rest will be an entire school year…..i miss season 2 and 3 when they had the summer episode before the school started.

well Stephen Stohn.. tweeted that he just saw the rough cut of the season 10 promo ….he said it most likely will be released on may 21, which is when “keep on loving you” is premiering so i guess next friday is when we’re gonna get some movie & S10 news (:
Is it me or is this season kinda boring?
Like idk, i enjoy it somewhat and it was better than season 8. But i still dont think it was that good. I mean we got Holly/ Declan overkill. Nobody really had a plot to themselves, everything was kinda shared with a couple. Well except for riley. I love the new additions, but i feel like we barely seen them. All Jenna did was act like a ho, fiona barely did anything. Declan did tooooo much, but dave was evenly balanced. Idk when i like think in general, i kinda think this season is a disappointment. like there were really only a couple good episodes, everything else was mediocre.
I’m still annoyed at how they did the whole Jane and Declan hooking up thing and them acting like it never happened. That still kinda annoys me just because i think they should have been hooking up for more than one episode. Ash/Craige/Manny lasted at least 3-4 episodes. With this everything happened within like 2 episodes and then Declan declares his love for Holly J. The Alli sexting should have lasted like 3 eps. Shoot to thrill should have been a b plot. then there should had been another when Jonny sent it to bruce and then finished with You Be Illin. All the characters who were worth watching Season 8, were downgraded this season. Alli, HJ, and Peter barely got any good storylines, except Alli. We all know peter should have relapse something like that shoudl have lasted longer.
Sorry for the rant but i just had to say that…Degrassi is starting to let me down slowly.

Jane tries to stop an unexpected wedding? There has been a lot of speculation about Spinner and Emma, which scares me. Spinner has done a lot of stupid things over the years, but hooking up with Emma would be the worst. Who would actually want to spend the rest of their life with somebody as heinous as Emma?
Emma’s awesome what are you talking about? Spinner and Emma would be great, Emma is way hotter than Jane too.

NOOO!! I love Spinner and I love Emma and even if they are claiming that they are going to get married, I highly doubt that they are even going to go through with it. I think it would be really funny if they did and it would defiantly add a new twist to the plot line but EMMA SHOULD END UP WITH SEAN!!!! Sean is so hot! He should come back and marry Emma!
Yeah I thought at first it would be Manny and Jay’s wedding. Then I wondered who Emma would marry. But if Jane is breaking up the wedding I’d imagine it being Spinner’s.
So I too am wondering if it is a wedding between Spinner and Emma.
At first I thought the wedding would be in NY and that way it would be like one of the Degrassi kids trying to stay in the country or something. But they make it sound like it’s going to be taking place back in Canada.
Is Degrassi Season 9 going to be a box like a thick box like the rest of the other dvd’s or is it going to be a slim DVD case? Because they had slim DVD’s for Season 7 and Season 8 that came in a packaged deal. I am afraid that they will only sell slim ones because i like having the boxed set.

In your picture who is that with Ellie? It looks like bronco from Degrassi High and I was like that can’t be him, but that looks a lot like him so I was just wondering.
