Liberty's gone, and apparently so is Degrassi's syndication run on CW Stations.
I was checking out CableTVTalk and Kyle posted a short, but disturbing message:

Effective this Monday (January 18, 2010), most (if not all) stations will be replacing Degrassi with the CBC series Edgemont that aired on Encore WAM a few years ago in the USA. I’m still waiting for word if Program Partners discontinued distribution of Degrassi entirely or are still making it available in the other strip that some stations use.

It might seem like sudden news, but upon doing some research I found an article written in December from Broadcasting & Cable about how the CW was picking up Edgemont for it’s E/I programming. Of course it doesn’t mention anything about the fate of Degrassi, but I’m assuming they’re done with TNG. It’s kinda weird though seeing as how in 2008 the CW renewed their deal and decided to syndicate Degrassi through 2011…I wonder what made them change their minds.
Am I upset by this? No, not really…my local CW (actually it airs on MyTV here) channel airs Degrassi during the weekdays at 7am. Sorry Season 3…I love you, but I’m not getting up that early to watch you. Plus if you’re one of those people who complain about TeenNick editing episodes?? The CW version of the episodes are virtually hacked to pieces…it’s almost a shame.

Yeah, they do. At the top of my head, I remember them cutting a scene where Ellie cuts herself. CTV actually showed the object piercing her skin.
oooh gotcha. wait how do you know? don’t you live in one country or the other? by the way they cant show an object piercing skin in america especially if its on a teen show
I live in the US, and watch the CTV episodes online. Then I compare them whenever they air in the US. That’s how I can see the differences, lol.

So, is the cutting scene a DELETED scene, or did america just cut it entirely? As for the first comment, degrassi will NEVER BE CANCELED!!! It’s just The CW syndication. Just WATCH IT ON MTV@10AM!!! And DUH! if you wanna find out the answer to all that stuff, just Watch the NEW episodes. DUH!
No they show the scene where she’s in her room cutting, they just don’t show the part where she puts the blade to her arm and actually cuts…in other words they cut out literally like 3 seconds of the scene. The thing is people hear “oh teennick cut something out of Degrassi” and then assume they’re taking out entire scenes and completely changing an episode, which isn’t the case. Oh btw, does Degrassi still come on MTV where you live? I doesn’t come on here anymore :-/
Yeah, it’s not like they cut anything major. Just small little things that are barely noticeable unless you’re watching both the US and American versions at the same time, side-by-side. Either way, the cuts are minor.

I guess as long as everyone has another station where they can see Degrassi it should be okay, unless there is an underlying problem that can’t be seen right now.
I didn’t know they edited episodes. I guess it makes sense, though.
It bothers me that they edit episodes, even if it’s only a few seconds. I feel that way about pretty much any show in syndication. Every now and then it actually does change the episode or make something else harder to understand, but even if it doesn’t… I want to watch the whole thing, darn it! lol.
Would someone please tell me why they would let christian darcy call her mom a bitch, but in school’s out, they edited “you were FUCKING tessa campanelli?!!!” to “you were sleeping with tessa campanelli?!” WTFISTHAT?!!!
